NORA being unloaded:

What's the difference between the one offered and the ones purchased by Cyprus? Or they are the same?

MAN truck instead of KAMAZ and slight modification of gun and autoloader to enable use of the US legacy ammunition and charges.

PS. Note there is no barrel, it was shipped separately, due the some obscure US import law.

KAMAZ is for Russian parties, for Balkan themed ones you have choice of FAP or TAM :D

Portee mode?

My bad.  As usual, I did some digging after posting🤪 and found that tube to the rear is the normal mount for the NORA gun.

The NORA has a turret. It can fire 360 degrees. It usually fires aft to minimize the blast effect on the vehicle and to place more mass in the direction of recoil.

The gun is usually returned to 0 degrees traverse for movement to minimize mass clearance issues.

IIRC not with all charges.

Has there been much progress with the Serbian 122mm self propelled gun? SONA?  S/F....Ken M

SORA? Army changed requirements and has decided that in the future mech brigades will get 155mm arty, while 72 modernized 2S1s are enough for motorized ones. So project died even through it was finalized, as originally SORA was seen as a way to motorize towed 122mms for motorized brigades. OTOH, It's autoloader got upscaled and used in the latest NORA development, MGS-25. It is also formally available for export, as a program to convert towed 122mm.

2S1 from Vladmart is clunky and eats manpower.  Manpower is where the money is.  Towed is fine if you're building firebases to oppress the wogs, but that's on the outs.

The 122mm/5inch segment seems a good place to be for performance vs size.  S/F....Ken M

The value of manpower is much less in a non-USian or NATO situation. A mildly modernized 2S1 is easily manned by national servicemen and reservists. Especially if maintenance is a full time billet. Operational mobility is a non-issue in Serbia IMO.
