The Arab Spring I understand to have had mixed results in outcomes as well, despite plenty of optimism to start off with.
Harold Jones
I think revolutions are about as successful at creating democratic governments as waiting for an authoritarian regime to mellow into some kind of representative democracy. Stuart Galbraith
Well it worked in France. But only after about 90 years and successive restoration and ejection of the Monarchy and Emperors. It seems to me they arrived at a Democracy after trying nearly every other alternative.
glenn239
Yes, and now Europe pioneers at a new form of government - Representative Bureaucracy. The headquarters are very well appointed, there's even a shout out to democracy - a window display set up in the atrium. Anyways, less sarcastically on Iran, the problem is the same as the Arab Spring. There's no assurance that this unrest will lead anywhere except a repressive crackdown or Syrian Civil War, Part II.
