R011 Posted February 8 Posted February 8 (edited) Being drunk at work isn't normally a criminal matter anywhere. It's usually sufficient grounds to be immediately fired for cause, union or not. The story says they couldn't find out what disciplinary action was taken by the school, but it seems she no longer works there. Edited February 8 by R011
Stargrunt6 Posted February 8 Posted February 8 They're admitting you don't have to be sober to be a California teacher.
rmgill Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Depends on the job sector. Attorneys always seem to have a bottle in their office.

I once had one routinely greeting his clients with "Hello and good day, Mr. ... - what can I offer you: Water? Coffee? Schnaps?" And it's kinda true, these are the three most appropriate drinks when you seek counsel, depending on how deep in trouble you believe yourself to be in. 😆

I read an interview with a Las Vegas attorney who represented bot politicians and mafia members. He said the latter were always honest with him.

Ivanhoe Posted February 9 Posted February 9 I'll put this here since it predates Biden and Trump; https://frank-hood.com/2025/02/08/do-you-expect-me-to-fly-no-mr-bond-i-expect-you-to-dei/ Quote My interest in this questionnaire quickly became professional rather than political. I’ve been a professional statistician as part of my work-life, and I’ve written questionnaires, so I know something about their design and usage. Everything about this seemed drawn from a Monty Python sketch. First, no one who cares about the results, assigns a questionnaire, on which someone’s future career hangs, and instructs them to fill it out at their leisure in private. Why would a test taker not lie or cheat given the importance placed on the questionnaire? That was head-shaker number one.

I'm all for renaming forts that were named after confederate officers. Maybe both sides could agree to quit naming ships after politicians. No USS Obama, Trump or Milk. Always have a USS Enterprise in service or building

Always have a USS Enterprise in service or building The law passed that created the renaming committee specifically stated bases couldn't be named after Confederates. Using Roland L. Bragg as the namesake is a workaround that lets them have the name some always wanted. Frankly, more of a disservice to this soldier's memory than an honor. Even in that clip above Hegseth specifically said "Fort Bragg is back" not "Fort Roland L. Bragg is here".
Soren Ras Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Then Fort Lee can just be renamed after Light-Horse Harry Lee. Certainly not a Confederate soldier, but it'll stay in the family. As for Fort Hood (today Fort Cavazos), well John Hood was in practical terms more of a Union asset than a Confederate one, but otherwise I suppose they can probably find someone more worthy with the name Hood, or maybe they could instead honor Audie Murphy, or Alvin York, for that matter. Not to denigrate Gen Cavazos, who was by all acounts a fine and brave officer, but he got the honor of having the previous Fort Hood named after him (as well Biden's elevation of his DSC into the Medal of Honor a few months before that to improve the optics) mainly for ticking the diversity box of being the first Hispanic four star.
