One of the Union locals here went full stupid and posted a image supporting Hamas. This is caused outrage, resulting in the union HQ to delete the tweet. I suspect that some Jewish members of the union are likley in the position to take civil action against them.

It reminds me of how different Canada is from the U.S.

I can understand people being outraged by those supporting hamas. Yet in the U.S. they would have the right to do so.

I'm not sure what you mean here.  Misguided, foolish, or malicious people here absolutely have the right to support Hamas by word or protest.  A union local being over ruled by the union head office is strictly an internal matter for that union.

Rallies supporting Israel have had ten times the turn out as the ones supporting Hamas.

Expect to see more criminal acts as folks target the other side politically in the US. I expect that synagogues in the West will see an uptick in attacks, so too Mosques.

In the U.S. there would be no legal action that could be taken. They would be within their rights.

I doubt that is correct, If the Union HQ deleted the tweet as said above it means tweet was done with Union property. Union can set rules for what members can say with its property.

Any civil action by Jewish union members would have to be related to union business.  It might also be considered workplace harassment which is also actionable under US law.
