Tim the Tank Nut
from my chair it seems that you have a rounded set of points of view. Some stuff I agree with and some stuff I don't. There are enough posters here for me to feel like some are a consistent message and some are a varying messages. In the "Old Days" of TankNet there were quite a lot of posters that had differing worldviews but were will to go the extra mile to explain where that view came from. We don't have as much of that as we did but as Porthos said, everything degenerates...

If I should have made that more clear, i apologize. This I understood. I conflated my response to several posts. Without trying to sound like someone promoting too much touchy-feely nonsense, I think of "Groupthink" in a couple of ways - one is that it leads to a narrowing of thoughts and therefore risks missing what should be obvious. You see this in echo chambers where the ideology swamps reality (and this is not a left or right thing, it's a risk for any such group.) The second is in that it reinforces the boundaries of such groups, by making them inaccessible or at least unwelcoming to incomers, or even existing members of the group who think differently. Tanknet, much like every community, suffers from both of these. There is a neologism for the latter, which is "othering". I suspect that if you search for it using the engine of your choice, it will bring up a lot of woke nonsense, but it's a variation on the "U" and "Non-U" types of playground politics that meant that person over there was never cool enough to be in *our* gang. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U_and_non-U_English Note that a primary method of demarking the groups was via the use of language. I think we've seen this before...
lucklucky
Verizon the Neo-Marxist Capitalists Verizon teaches employees that America is fundamentally racist and promotes “defunding the police.” Quote As part of the company’s “antiracism” education series, #Next20, Verizon vice president David Hubbard interviewed Khalil Muhammad, great-grandson of former Nation of Islam leader Elijah Muhammad and newly minted professor of race at Harvard. During his presentation, called American History 101, Muhammad argued that America is fundamentally racist and needs a “new origin story,” replacing the narrative of “American exceptionalism” with the narrative that America was founded on “systems of racism” that remain at the root of our society. Muhammad argued that the Founding Fathers built a slave economy and that “this early version of global capitalism” produced the “economic incentives” that prevail to this day, with modern corporations “exploiting poor people in low-income communities” in a similar way to the slaveowners of the past. “This isn’t just Marxist talking points,” Muhammad said. “It’s just the fact.” https://www.city-journal.org/verizon-critical-race-theory-training
lucklucky
Quote To begin, Verizon diversity trainers instruct employees to deconstruct their intersectional identities, listing their “race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, religion, education, profession, and sexual orientation," then determining their position on the "privilege" hierarchy. lucklucky
The US arts scene is like a totalitarian state’ "Everyone in the arts in America is talking about the tyranny of cancel culture and cultural appropriation,” says the Broadway composer Stephen Schwartz. “The funny thing is, no one dares to say it aloud. It’s like living in a totalitarian state. When your life is all about creating stories, and to be told you can only write about someone who is exactly like you, well, I’m not happy about being put in that situation.”. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/theatre/what-to-see/wicked-composer-stephen-schwartz-us-arts-scene-like-totalitarian/#comment
Ivanhoe
https://www.dailysignal.com/2021/09/01/even-a-42-ton-boulder-isnt-safe-from-woke-cancel-culture/ Quote Can a rock be racist? It can be, according to student activists at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. The school in early August moved a giant boulder that had sat prominently on campus for nearly a century to honor geologist and former university President Thomas Chrowder Chamberlin. “This moment is about the students, past and present, that relentlessly advocated for the removal of this racist monument,” said Juliana Bennett, a student and campus representative on the Madison City Council. “Now is a moment for all of us [black, Indigenous, and people of color] students to breathe a sigh of relief, to be proud of our endurance, and to begin healing.” Chamberlin was never accused of racism or anything else inappropriate. Instead, the massive 42-ton boulder was removed because of a single line in a local newspaper nearly 100 years ago in 1925 that referred to the rock using an offensive anachronism. lucklucky
Quote In an effort to welcome back students to campus, the University of Wisconsin-Madison will host a “Welcome BBQ” intended only for students of color. The event is scheduled for September 12, four days after the start of the academic year at UW. It will be free of charge to attendees, according to a flyer obtained by The College Fix. “All are welcome, intended for self-identifying people of color,” the flyer states. https://www.thecollegefix.com/uw-madison-to-quietly-host-welcome-bbq-intended-only-for-students-of-color/

sunday
Gun control - it is for the children, and to remove violence from the street! Yeah, sure... Especially in Chicago. Quote 3 anti-violence workers charged with felony gun violations — while on bail for felony gun violations At least three men who are supposedly working to end gun violence in Chicago were charged with illegally carrying guns this week while they were already on bond for other felony gun cases. One of the men’s pending cases includes allegations that he shot at two people.

sunday
"Stupid racist individual gets fired" Well, the individual is Silicon Valley investor who happens to be a woman of Chinese extraction, and she got fired from the board of the corporation that owns brands like Vans, North Face, Eastpak, Smartwool or Timberland, because she disagrees with some aspects of that BLM thing. Her email is a thing of beauty. Quote (...) "This is where I am particularly not supportive. I have lived in the country as a minority and women [sic] for all my life. I have not experience much racism or discrimination as a minority or female. By and large, I was able to get opportunities to compete as fairly as I think," read the email. "I truly believe this country by and large is not a racist country. Not to say there are not people who might be (there might be minority and some extremists), but it is by far not the biggest problem this country is facing," she continued. "I don't believe in Black Lives Matter. If anything I think they are the true racists trying to stir up things to make this country going [sic] to socialism or even communism potentially," Wu continued later on in the email. "That would be truly sad. I am a patriot. I appreciate all this country has given me, and believe it is a place where meritocracy thrive which is why it is such a great country. I don't appreciate those who try to weaken it by undermining the meritocracy principles and try to stick to some race quota," she explained. (...)
