Rick Posted April 30, 2020 Posted April 30, 2020 Has anyone read the this book? Yea? Nay? Find all you want to know on Wikipedia?
AtikGuide1 Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 I have. I found it insightful to read about Woodward's criticism of one of his carrier captains being too cautious, when Adm. Woodward wanted to have air cover, and then reading of Woodward's thought, upon learning the ARA 25 of May's approximate location, that he would wait until daybreak before launching his attack. Sharkey Ward, in his book, wanted to commit at once, so that British Harriers would be bombing Argentine ships at or before dawn, and not be on the receiving end.
Rick Posted July 3, 2020 Author Posted July 3, 2020 "African Kaiser" General Paul Von Lettow-Vorbeck and the Great War in Africa, 1914-1918 by Robert Gaudi.A good, general read on, to me, a basically unknown subject. One quibble is that he doesn't know the difference between a cornea and an iris.
Stuart Galbraith Posted July 3, 2020 Posted July 3, 2020 If you find that interesting, you might enjoy 'Mimi and Tou Tou go south' by Giles Foden. Its about the real story about the RN mission to sink the German gunboats on lake Tanganyika that inspired movies such as Shout at the Devil or the African Queen.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mimi_and_Toutou_Go_Forth
