shep854 Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 (edited) I like the names so far; homage to the classic early 1800's USN frigates. It sounds like the Navy is finally getting a class right. Edited April 19, 2023 by shep854
Stuart Galbraith Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 Sadly you just know that If they turn out to be a great success, the later ones will be named after failed politicians.
Sardaukar Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 Well, they surely should be more successful than LCS program...

That thought did occur to me... "Well, they surely should be more successful than LCS program..."--Sardaukar It seems that somebody finally remembered that combat involves actually engaging and exchanging fire, not gaily zipping around lobbing the occasional missile.
Josh Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 Ingalls and Austral seem fairly well positioned to become a second yard. Four per year plus 2x Burke 3 would help a lot for Burke I/II retirements.

Stuart Galbraith Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 I always thought they named them after Captain Kidd.

Stuart Galbraith Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 Make sure you use steel masts this time.

Allan W Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 What is the difference between an Operations Room and a CIC? I always thought they were different terms for essentially the same thing.
lucklucky Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 I think so too. I can see a split between technical operation and planning and decision -command area- but the difference would not be necessarily by those terms.
