Ivanhoe Posted March 26 Posted March 26 https://scholarworks.sjsu.edu/secrecyandsociety/vol3/iss2/3/ Quote Abstract Ideological and financial motivations have undermined science for decades. In this narrative review, we explore how organizations and governments used misinformation, disinformation, censorship, and secrecy to manage the COVID-19 pandemic. Various rationales for employing censorship and secrecy during the COVID-19 pandemic are examined including how organizations and governments create confusion about the risks associated with their products and blame avoidance to shift responsibility and to avoid accountability for their actions. Methods of censorship employed during the COVID-19 pandemic are reviewed, examples are provided, and the consequences of these actions are reviewed. Information included in this review was obtained from scientific papers, government documents, mass media articles, books, and personal accounts of physicians and scientists. We examine how the use of censorship and secrecy created a challenge for scientists, physicians, politicians, and the general public in trying to understand COVID-related topics. Finally, strategies for managing censorship and secrecy during a pandemic are presented. Nothing new, just info that's been assembled into a single coherent format. Beware typos and such.
Ivanhoe Posted March 28 Posted March 28 Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong* was interviewed recently on Tucker Carlson's show, apparently he is now talking about the link between mRNA shots and cancer. What makes his opinion interesting is that he made a billion dollars by developing anti-cancer pharmaceuticals. I'm not going to watch the video, but hopefully he will go on other shows and reiterate his points. * Also the owner of the LA Times newspaper, infamous for endorsing Mayor Karen Bass before the Palisades fire as well as shifting from knee-jerk support of Democratic presidential candidates to supporting Trump in 2024.

sunday Posted March 30 Posted March 30 More on Peter Marks Quote A Postmortem on Peter Marks’ FDA Legacy: False Positives Killed Untold Numbers of People — and Marks Was Warned We saw his decisions. We raised concerns, issued warnings, and watched them go unheeded. Marks answered not to science, but to those who saw objectivity as optional. The tone-deafness remains obvious. Quote Manufactured Consensus, Suppressed Dissent Throughout his tenure, dissenting experts were sidelined. Transparency was a talking point, not a principle. Public confidence was treated as a messaging problem, not a data problem. When confronted with criticism, Dr. Marks' default response was to accuse others of spreading misinformation—even when the concerns were based on FDA's own data. Quote The Damage by Marks Is Done, But the Reckoning Is Just Beginning Marks misled the public on Paxlovid and boosters. He forced Gruber and Krause to resign (they whistleblew on the Biden administration for insisting on the COVID-19 booster before the agency approved it. He helped push unethical mandates. The controversies surrounding diagnostic testing accuracy, vaccine efficacy, safety, shortcuts to fast-tracking unsafe drug underscore the challenges of balancing swift action with rigorous scientific evaluation. These events highlight the critical need for maintaining public trust through consistent, transparent, and evidence-based communication in public health initiatives. History will not be written by resignation letters. It will be written by the consequences—and those consequences are now undeniable.

I have mixed feelings as they canned the entire top leadership, give or take a few, but they also closed some departments I personally thought valuable. The one that jumps out is the group that advises and works with small biotech and startups to guide them through the development and approval process. That group was key to avoiding big pharma having an insurmountable advantage with the labyrinth of regulations that a small company just can't predict. That one has me scratching my head.

Ivanhoe Posted April 2 Posted April 2 https://www.drvinayprasad.com/p/the-same-media-that-lied-about-all Quote Peter Marks was a mediocre academic hematologist prior to joining the FDA now 13 years ago. A review of his publication record in those years would likely find him to be entirely average and unimpressive. Take a look, and read the papers. Nevertheless, he obtained an important job in government and rose within the FDA through the civil hiring service. Quote In short, Peter Marks was one of the most dangerous, pro-pharma regulators of the 21st century. He is leaving and crafting an narrative that portrays him as a saint. That’s natural. But what is shocking is that the media is so uncritical, and not honest about his actions. The same media that lied about lab leak, masks, and all things covid is lying about Peter Marks. Overall, he is what happens when a mediocre academic becomes a pro-Pharma FDA regulator, and makes a series of the most calamitous mistakes in 21st century drug regulation. Because of him, the American people are poorer and worse off. Companies meanwhile profited from his actions. My only question is whether he starts working at Pfizer, Moderna, Sarepta or a consultant for all three. Getting rid of Marks makes Trump's win all the better.
Ivanhoe Posted April 3 Posted April 3 https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1092913422000855#f0005 Quote It is concluded that the viral spike protein, endocytosed by macrophages/pericytes, can induce a myocarditis with the possibility of conduction dysfunction due to abnormal localization of key intercalated disc proteins. Of course, the paper was written to assert that spike proteins are only from actual COVID-19 infection. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9611676/ Quote The current report presents the case of a 76-year-old man with Parkinson’s disease (PD) who died three weeks after receiving his third COVID-19 vaccination. The patient was first vaccinated in May 2021 with the ChAdOx1 nCov-19 vector vaccine, followed by two doses of the BNT162b2 mRNA vaccine in July and December 2021. The family of the deceased requested an autopsy due to ambiguous clinical signs before death. PD was confirmed by post-mortem examinations. Furthermore, signs of aspiration pneumonia and systemic arteriosclerosis were evident. However, histopathological analyses of the brain uncovered previously unsuspected findings, including acute vasculitis (predominantly lymphocytic) as well as multifocal necrotizing encephalitis of unknown etiology with pronounced inflammation including glial and lymphocytic reaction. In the heart, signs of chronic cardiomyopathy as well as mild acute lympho-histiocytic myocarditis and vasculitis were present. Although there was no history of COVID-19 for this patient, immunohistochemistry for SARS-CoV-2 antigens (spike and nucleocapsid proteins) was performed. Surprisingly, only spike protein but no nucleocapsid protein could be detected within the foci of inflammation in both the brain and the heart, particularly in the endothelial cells of small blood vessels. Since no nucleocapsid protein could be detected, the presence of spike protein must be ascribed to vaccination rather than to viral infection. The findings corroborate previous reports of encephalitis and myocarditis caused by gene-based COVID-19 vaccines. Vaccinated to death, it would seem.

Ivanhoe Posted April 5 Posted April 5 https://blog.maryannedemasi.com/p/surge-in-brain-tumours-among-nurses Quote A troubling rise in brain tumours among nurses at Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Boston has sparked urgent calls for a full-scale investigation into potential causes. CBS News first reported that at least ten nurses had been diagnosed with brain tumours—some malignant, others benign—with three requiring surgery. However, the hospital disputed these figures, stating that only five confirmed cases had been identified. Yet accounts from hospital staff suggest the numbers may be higher. A nurse who worked at Newton-Wellesley for nearly a decade and was recently diagnosed with a brain tumour revealed that at least 17 individuals had come forward and were undergoing assessment. Quote However, Professor Wafik El-Deiry, a leading cancer researcher at Brown University, insists that all possibilities must be examined. “They need to gather full medical histories, vaccine records, and detailed pathology reports of the tumours,” he explained. “It’s critical to analyse blood and tissue samples for the presence of spike protein and other potential markers to determine if these cancers share molecular signatures.” Given the relatively short timeframe in which these tumours have emerged and concentrated at the same location, some have speculated that nurses at Newton-Wellesley may have received a ‘bad batch’ of mRNA vaccines. The amount of mRNA in different lots of the Pfizer shot has been documented, so the "hot lot" hypothesis is plausible. Of course, clinicians work around all sorts of nasty cleaners (rather than buying us legit whiteboard cleaner, a prior employer of mine provided sterilizing wipes that turned out to have carcinogenic compounds). Quote “Detecting spike protein in a tumour alone is not definitive,” El-Deiry cautioned. “There’s a need to check for the presence of the nucleocapsid protein. If it’s absent, that would suggest the spike protein originates from the vaccine rather than a prior Covid infection.”
Ivanhoe Posted April 5 Posted April 5 https://www.thefocalpoints.com/p/spike-protein-induces-the-antinuclear Quote Some patients with long-COVID or post-vaccine injury syndromes develop autoimmune conditions similar to systemic lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, mixed connective tissue disease, and systemic scleroderma. For years now, I have routinely checked the blood antinuclear antibody (ANA) test in patient with long-pandemic syndromes. I might look into this test.
Ivanhoe Posted April 7 Posted April 7 https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/04/06/covid-criminals-dragged-through-courts-five-years-later/ Quote Five years after the first lockdown, people are still being dragged through the courts for alleged Covid breaches. Many of those accused claim they simply misunderstood the rules but have been forced to engage in lengthy court battles to clear their names. According to data analysed by The Telegraph, around 130 people appeared before court for hearings related to alleged Covid breaches in the past six months. Quote But Mrs Wexler was confused about the UK’s entry requirements and mistakenly booked a day 5 PCR test – when the requirements at the time were for day 2 and day 8 PCR Tests. After arriving at Heathrow, Border Force confirmed she had the wrong tests and she was instructed to buy the correct ones from a centre outside the airport for £840. On Dec 3 2022, more than a year-and-a-half later, she received four £1,000 fixed penalty notices (PCN) from Border Force, one for failing to possess a testing kit herself, and the other three for failing to possess kits for her children. Quote Dr Karol Sikora, a leading cancer specialist who has repeatedly criticised the stringent lockdown restrictions imposed on the UK, has called for an amnesty on prosecutions. He said: “This is all a complete waste of taxpayers’ money. These people were not criminals. The rules kept changing and our government handled the situation very badly. “It’s time to put an amnesty in place about all this nonsense. There was no scientific base behind the rules at the time. “It must continue to remain distressing for those involved in this pointless exercise.” One positive thing about the COVID mess is that people were given an opportunity to realize that governments mostly want to become full-time thugocracies.

Ivanhoe Posted April 7 Posted April 7 This resonates with a theory of mine; that people at the top keep doing what got them to the top, regardless of whether their decisions and actions apply to the new context or not. https://www.fraserinstitute.org/sites/default/files/covid-19-lessons-essay7-on-covid-we-fought-the-last-war-and-lost.pdf Quote When scientists encounter a novel situation, they nearly always shape their thinking by analogy. Reasoning in a vacuum is rarely fruitful, and hypotheses must come from somewhere. The analogy that scientist-bureaucrats immediately latched onto in the early days of COVID-19 was HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. This fact may surprise some readers, but it shouldn’t because personnel is policy. In the infectious disease community over the last 40 years, many of the best-known and most influential science bureaucrats and public health officials came to prominence in combatting the HIV crisis. This cadre includes the four key scientists responsible for our COVID response: Dr. Anthony Fauci, an HIV/AIDS immunologist who led the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases during both the HIV/AIDS and COVID pandemics; Trump’s Coronavirus Response Coordinator Deborah Birx, an HIV/AIDS immunologist who previously served as the Global AIDS Coordinator beginning under President Barack Obama; former CDC director Dr. Robert Redfield, an HIV virologist who previously served on the President’s Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS; and the then CDC director Dr. Rochelle Walensky, a clinical HIV/AIDS researcher who previously chaired NIH’s AIDS Advisory Research Council. With instincts honed over decades, they studiously ignored a century of epidemiological knowledge about coronaviruses and other similar pathogens. As HIV/AIDS laboratory scientists and clinicians without a formal background in epidemiology and public health, they were obliged to and did, at some point, learn about the epidemiology of HIV/AIDS. For COVID, they then adopted a public health policy derived from a faulty analogy to the epidemiology of HIV rather than the epidemiology of coronaviruses, with which they were unfamiliar.
