Thanks DD.

I will get around to scanning some more when I have the chance, im spending a lot of time rewarding a 1-16 scale Challenger 2 at the moment so ive been a bit tardy. Does anyone fancy a M60A1 maintenance manual?

Nevertheless, thank you. The Chieftain manual was very interesting, I'd wondered how exactly the breech gas sealing was accomplished.

If Chieftain is your thing, you might be interested to know ive a Mk3 and a Mk9-12 maintenance manual which its my ambition to scan through at some point. Either that or Centurion, ive got a near complete set of those.

Not, perhaps, any more than any other tank. Just that in the case of the Chieftain armament, I wouldn't have any idea how to begin arranging parts so as to have a reliable meta-to-metal seal that would hold such high pressure, and also separate and open immediately for reloading. So very neat to see diagrams and descriptions. Also it indirectly makes sense of the semi-combustible cases used for other 120mm guns, they effectively just replace the seal each shot.

I'm just grateful to see it all. If you want input, the Centurion material sounds good. But no rush, no pressure.

Thank you for these, especially the Challenger ones. If you have any early (the earlier the better) Centurion ones down the line it is my favorite tank!

Nice one Ken!

The credit goes to Donald Moriarty, who researched and labored for years [ETA: at Ft Knox] over the restoration of the M50A1 that will reside in the future National Museum of Armor and Cavalry at Fort Benning, Georgia.

I took a ride on it in 2006, and the restoration is perfect with the exception of the 106mm RR: all were rebuilt to infantry ground mount issue when the Ontos was discarded.

Its such an interesting vehicle. Im not sure if it was ever successful as an antitank vehicle, but it clearly proved useful in urban combat.

No problem fella.

There might be a bit of a delay on the other Centurion manuals. Im about halfway through an early Chieftain manual, ill try and get that up tomorrow sometime. Its driving me nuts, all awkward pages stopping it up in the feed tray. You almost wonder if it was a primitive MOD copy protection scheme. :D

Ok, so here is the Chieftain Mk2-3-5 manual. Its a bit big, and its somewhat disorganized. That is how I bought it, most of the Mk5 updates are at the back rather than integrated fully with the manual. You will also probably have to wait a few seconds before it comes up on pdf viewer because its so damn big. I was going to do the Chieftain Mk9-10-11-12 next but we will see how people get on with this one first.

Download complete after two minutes, if that's what you're asking?

File size not a problem, as far as I can tell from a quick glance.

It works ok? Thats cool then. it was taking about 20 seconds to load it in on my new desktop before it would play, which suggests to me I probably should have used a lower setting.

Incidentally, if anyone has any ideas about how to scan the gatefolds, let me know. I suspecting Ill need to buy a stand alone scanner to do that. Ive tried scanning halves and merging via photoshop, but it never looks good.

Ill cool my heels for a few days,my drop box is maxed out. Im going to have to take some down to put new stuff up, but if anyone wants me to rehost stuff, I can do that in future.

I didn't encounter any problems.

An interesting finding was the comparative tables between the marks.
