None of the passengers faces are visible..... Its filmed in Israel.... at a time when the UN is under increasing criticism from Israel and the US.......

Ok, im cynical but I still remember Piers Morgan Bedford Lorry warcrime fabrication. As John Le Carre once said, beware of topicality.

People fucking at the work. Absolutely impossible to happen. :D

Why is that even an issue, since it is so common, just not filmed often?

Oh, stop clutching your pearls. Everybody knows that UN stands for Unlimited Nookie.

One of my friends pointed out that near the end of the video, the UN markings appear to disappear, I let people decide for themselves if real or not.

That's just the critical angle being attained as the angle of the incident illumination is subtended whilst the vehicle drives away, it's still a UN vehicle.

The UN marking on the door is also strangely blurred though, whilst still visible. Almost as if the range it was applying the marking was wrong. Then all of a sudden it focuses, whilst the vehicle has been in focus the whole time.

Im not saying its a fake, but, its a fake. :)

Can the UN get worse? Probably. That is why we need to take our money somewhere else. Hopefully if Trump is re-elected, he will defund the UN by a massive amount.

Posted

Doubtless he will delve into his massive intellect and build something better and stronger to replace it first. A Trump Tower of the diplomatic scene as it were.

If not, beware of people urinating on the street. Because In the end it wont be to your advantage because you are going to have yet more shitty little wars you will be dragged into for years at a time. Looked what happened when they shuttered the League of Nations.

Turn the UN property into river front condos.

I'm not sure how the UN stops bums pissing or shitting on the street. I've seen a guy dropping a load not 5 blocks from the US capitol just off D-Street and 3rd.

As to shitty wars? We pretty much have the only expeditionary force with any mass. Shitty little wars are gonna happen. I'm not sure how the UN keeps those from happening. It's the big gut busting wars that they were supposed to stop. That doesn't need anyone but the Security Council which already talks outside of the UN's hallowed halls.

This begs the question, which wars did the UN, in its present incarnation, prevent, that would otherwise have sucked in the US?

Its an analogy, and I would be the first to admit a bad one. But it illustrates, just because you remove services, doesnt mean they stop being necessary. The UN might be a very bad service, its still better than none at all.

If people want to disband it, go ahead. I think to be honest the US is overstating its own importance when it believes it can. All its going to do is leave the UN in a huff, and rejoin 10 years later with none of the status it currently has. Fancy being part of a Chinese dominated UN? I dont.

You would have over 5000 extra casualties if it wasnt for allies who fought in Afghanistan. Its not that any of them were any size, but collectively they were a force that mattered. That might be meaningless for Trump supporters, but I doubt its meaningless for those who served there. And to be honest, im not really getting the idea the US has the right to criticize anyone else for their lack of mass when its presently on the brink of euthenising the USMC, for reasons that dont make any sense I suspect even for the USN.

There hasnt been any really large conflicts since Desert Storm, before that it was Afghanistan. If you look at the 100 years before that, they were considerably more common. True, the Cold War and the Atomic Bomb had something to do with that. OTOH, if you look at the history of the Cuban Missile Crisis or even the first Iraq war, the significance of the UN is difficult to understate. I think without the UN we would have one to war in 1962, with all the consequences that entails.

Is it broke? Sure. Most of Trumps criticisms are true to be absolutely fair to him. That is a case for kicking butt to make it the UN you want, rather than walking out without even trying. That would be the actions of a complete child. Which is why im astonished he hasnt done it yet.

Doing so would devalue 845 United Nations Plaza, otherwise known as Trump World Tower :D

The UN has no troops other than what are provided by member nations. Those member nations can STILL send troops to what ever incidents that it deems them necessary to go to to keep order. Canada does yeoman service in this regard. Other, smaller countries, not so much.

What, Canada? Seems you're still living in 1995 or something.

The largest troop contributions are from Ethiopia, India, and Bangladesh.

Largest does not mean effective.

That's all nice and well, but doesn't change the fact that apart from a few staff officers, Canada doesn't contribute any troops to UN missions at all currently.

Canadian UN troops were usually quite effective when we did have some - depending on what restrictions UN headquarters placed on them.

Which pay their troops far less than what the UN pays for them. The difference in the money going towards (quotation marks)" administration ". Edited by Wobbly Head
