As for 32 Squadron, a quick internet search seems that my information was a number of years out of date. But, upto a few years ago, the RAF used to fly the queens grand childern to the swiss alps for a holiday amongst other locations. To a certain point they are your heads of state and they represent an arm of your diplomatic corps, staff who never get to go on break and are in effect signed up for life if they like it or not. Even as an ex prince the prince seems to be still a prince and everyone's treating him like it eve as he say he wants a quiet life (not that he really wants to be a nobody now). Princess Elizabeth didn't exactly have a normal youth and was never going to escape that. Nor could her sister. From a political science perspective, the idea of a constitutional monarchy is just as workable as an elected republic, the question is do you have everything balanced or not. All that comes in the details. With the republican system we have in the US we still have all manner of efforts to govern by rule of man instead of rule of law. Stuart Galbraith
To be fair to Trustme, there is a certain amount of hypocrisy at being lectured about green policies, by a man who has a jet come to pick him up at a nearby airport. Even though yes, I agree with pretty much everything he says on the subject. Although again to be fair to the man, he is filleting the civil list, because he is perfectly aware how unpopular priviledge is to people like TrustMe. He is trying in other words. After an internet search I can't an example however do you really think the Royals fly by EasyJet? One of the first articles I found said she'd taken a Wizz Air flight to go on one of her holidays. As she's not listed as a Royal with official duties, she doesn't get paid out of the budget either. She may be worthless, and she may have the classic silver spon, but she's not getting free flights from the RAF.
TrustMe
I'll by the first person to admit that i'm a republican regarding the Royal family, but I did respect the queen a lot. I liked Princess Diana and the changes she made to the Royal Family. Likewise I respected her for the anti-landmines charity work she did prior to her death. As for the rest of them I couldn't give a toss. Be it King Charles accepting a massive amount of money in cash for his charity work. Or Fergie being caught on TV camera saying that she wil provide access to the Royal Family in exchange for money. Or randy Andy and the underage sex acts court case. There all corrupt in my eyes. I just think that the country is better off without them.
Murph
I will disagree with you there, I think the UK would lose something undefinable if you got rid of your Royals. It just would be another socialist European country rather than what they are. I think that some members of the Royals are complete wankers, but I really think that the UK does need what they bring. Murph
Looks like Harry Markle the Duke of Dumptruck is not getting the adulation he wanted, so now he is even doubling down, and it looks like the Royals are surviving. "Recollections may vary".

DB
An affected countryside look to differentiate (Farage) from the city folk in their business suits. "brown ribbed suede"? Do you mean corduroy? If so, it's actually more practical in the wet than denim (for example) and is a traditional climber's trouser material.
Stuart Galbraith
I live in the countryside, and I honestly dont think any of the locals would be seen dead wearing that shit. Most of them wear barbour jackets.

Anyway, material is a lesser problem than a horrible color. Especially in the combination with shirt and that carpet-jacket. sunday
Brought my Barbour jacket to the Royal Opera House, once. Also, I found having the same surname as some famous tenor made staff be very gentle.

Corduroy traps air, so windchill is less effective at removing temperature than wet denim, which takes forever to dry but has no air layer. Or so I'm told, not being a mountaineer of any form. As for the jacket, it's likely tweed, which predates Barbours by, oh, maybe 200 years or more as country wear. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tweed
Murph
Tweed worn right looks classy, the carpet jackets, not so much, they make you look like a very bad used car salesman.... Duke of Dumpster Harry Markle should also take a page out of Princess Anne's book, that is one Royal who knows how to do the job!
