I don't think I saw it mentioned in these hollowed halls, but apparently Charles Regis wished people a Happy Hannukah along with Christmas. First time ever is the claim made. If so, kudos.

You know it is still early in his reign, but Charles III is turning out better than I had anticipated, and I will cheerfully admit I was completely wrong that he was nothing more than an inbred, tree-hugging nutter.  I actually have hopes that he will be a good and decent King for the UK.  But I think William will be the real gem when his turn comes.

He has started off very good. But remember, a few months before the Queen died, he was facing corruption articles in the papers for accepting a half a million in cash from a Middle Eastern Arab.

Charles indicated many years ago that he would prefer to be known as "Defender of Faith" rather than "Defender of the Faith" (It's "Fid. Def." on the coinage.)

He would prefer to be seen as Anglican, but not antipathetic to any other religious faith. Obviously there will be limits - I can't see him supporting Westboro Baptists, for example.

The first rule of Royalty Fight Club is... you dont talk about Royalty Fight Club!

He should count himself lucky. In the past he would have been lucky to have gotten away with being drowned in a vat of Malmsey Wine.

Wow, is it going to get even nastier?  Where are the four knights when you need them? (Thomas a Becket reference)

Or what happened to Harry''s mother!

What made or forced Charles to marry Diana?

It was an arranged marriage. They had only met each other seven times before their wedding day. Supposedly she was a virgin but I have no evidence, it may of only been be a rumor.

Apparently they were searching for an appropriate semi-noble virginal female that would breed the next generation and not cause any issues.  They should have let Charles marry Camilla when he wanted to marry her.  It would have solved so many issues.

William is his arch-nemesis...?!

I guess we only need to add an Oedipus complex for a Greek tragedy.

He has flipped over into full Kaiser Wilhelm at this moment. Im sure glad he isnt in the Army anymore, or Belgium would be for it.

Well, it wouldnt. She was married at the time I understand. Marrying a divorcee was unacceptable, as Princess Margaret found out to her cost.

In a sense, this is all the Royal Family's fault. They should have dragged that boy to a shrink and kept taking him there till he got his head halfway straight. If there is a flaw in the Royal family, its not racism, its not briefing behind peoples back (though Im sure there is some of that both). Its an undying ability to not face up to hard truths, which I guess is also a very strong British attribute also.

He isnt well, and thats been magnified by marrying someone who clearly isnt all the ticket either. He should have been sorted out long ago, and frankly, its leaving it a bit late now to do something about it.

Well there is always the Malmsey wine I guess.

I think that the anti-Harry briefing has been very real thing, authorised or not. I doubt that the racial aspect was ever really an issue amongst the currently alive Royals. It may have been mentioned as something that would need "the firm" to manage as external opinions became known and that may have even stretched to an "are you sure you want all the hassle that's going to come of this?", but in the end he married her and they got the full wedding thing rather than having to find a drive-thru Elvis somewhere, so I don't think that dominates the original breakdown (her spin on things thereafter might most likely affects his current state of mind, though).

The fundamental thing is that Harry has clearly never properly processed the events surrounding his mother's life, downfall and death. And for that, I suspect we have the Daily Heil, Express and such to blame for their blatant shit-stirring throughout, piled on top of the underlying and probably inevitable dysfunctionality of the royal family.

But DB, most Royal families are by definition dysfunctional...  But Harry clearly has issues.  Of course US "royals" have no better reputation at all for dysfunctional either , just look at the Kardashians, Hiltons, Clinton, Biden, etc, etc to see what I mean.

Well yes, at this point it probably is appropriate to compare him to the Kardashians.

It's not that I don't think the media bears some responsibility, it undoubtedly does. But rather like his mother, its difficult to have great sympathy for someone complaining about the media, who spends quite so much effort trying to get into it. And at least his mother, God bless her, was often considerably more classy how she did it. She spent far more time on good causes than whining about her misfortune.

If anyone wanted confirmation of what a deeply strange world in which we live, after his announcement of killing 25 Taliban, the Taliban announce they want to try him for war crimes...

So is it going to be a bombshell that takes down the "Firm" or will Whinging Harry and his wife not make a comeback and take the crown?

The Firm has seen worse and made it, this is a storm in a teacup.
