In the sense of an opportunity to do even greater good and to save a bullet, most of the same effect would be achieved by shooting Piers Morgan.

No, Piers Morgan is too useful. He fucks up everything he does. I'm secretly praying he headlines Rupert Murdoch's new UK tv channel so he can play Captain Smith to Murdoch's Titanic.

Queen advised to rest for two more weeks

By Jo Couzens

The Queen has been advised by doctors to rest for two further weeks and will not undertake official visits during this time, Buckingham Palace has said.

The palace said the monarch, 95, could undertake some light duties during that time, including virtual audiences.

It said it is her "firm intention" to attend the Remembrance Sunday service at the Cenotaph on 14 November.

The Queen underwent preliminary medical checks in hospital on 20 October after cancelling a visit to Northern Ireland.

She resumed public engagements on Tuesday this week by meeting ambassadors via video link from Windsor Castle.

But it was announced that she will not attend the COP26 climate change summit in Glasgow. The palace said she would deliver her address to delegates using a recorded video message instead.

She recorded the speech on Friday afternoon.

In a statement, Buckingham Palace said: "The doctors have advised that Her Majesty can continue to undertake light, desk-based duties during this time, including some virtual audiences, but not to undertake any official visits.

"Her Majesty regrets that this means she will be unable to attend the Festival of Remembrance on Saturday, November 13."

The commemorative event takes place in the presence of members of the royal family at the Royal Albert Hall every year.

[...]

Her stay at King Edward VII's Hospital was her first overnight hospital stay in eight years

The sovereign had maintained a typically busy schedule in October but was recently seen using a walking stick at a Westminster Abbey service, the first time she has done so at a major event.

She's also been told by her doctors to give up the gin 😀

If she meets with Joe, she'll go back to it.

Thomas Markle was apparently not happy with the Duchess of Sussex's latest TV appearance.

I'm mildly surprised MI6 hasn't silenced him yet.

He certainly seems to be a piece of work, but really, Madge isn't Putin.

So how is his royal supremeness the Prince Duke of Markle viewed in the "old country"?  I think most 'Murricans view him as a whiny overbred cretin who is utterly controlled by his harpy wife who never seems to run out of things she thinks are "racist".

That's the impression being pushed by the tabloid newspapers over here.

In all fairness, he went to Afghanistan and later became an Apache pilot, marched 200 miles to the South Pole, and he founded the Invictus games. He may be pussy-whipped, sure, but as far as "whiny and overbred" are concerned, not only are there a few other data points. Consider that the British press corps is world leader in sociopath infestation who know no limits to their intrusion of privacy (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_scandals_in_British_journalism and in particular: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/News_of_the_World_phone_hacking_affair).

I challenge his critics to live in his shoes for half a year and not develop the feeling that the game is stacked against you, and realizing that you'll have to go through this for the rest of your life, privileged upbringing or not, might make them a bit whiny too.

But let us remember Edward VIII, whilst whiny and overbred if anyone was, also went to the front line In WW1, saw combat there first hand, and received the military cross. He was undoubtedly a brave man. He was deeply respected by his generation and veterans, right before he discovered American divorcee's and unfashionable niche politics.

No, im not saying he is exactly the same as Great Uncle Edward. But the parallels are somewhat startling if you look for them. I think he is strong willed, single minded, easily offended and easily led. And whats worse, 'The Crown' watcher that he is, he doesnt seem capable of learning from the lessons of his familys own history. At least Edward had the excuse of being exceptionally dim and not having easy access to Netflix.

I should say I was in somewhat awe of him. He was undoubtedly the more popular of the two brothers. Its probably unfair to blame all of the trouble on Megan Markle, but I do think she in some way expresses a change that came over him, and a unwelcome one for the most part. Call it the Yoko Ono effect for want of a better term.

Globally speaking, I think the only groups who care are bored housewives, obsessive royalists, and US conservatives who are being fed "OMG he married a woke American actress" clickbait.

In actual fact, I have read quite a few comments from veterans groups claiming Suffolk had dropped them like a pile of hot rocks, rightly or wrongly. So no, its not just obsessive Royalists. He did some good, there is no denying it, then he buggered off to California.

Royalty is not just mere symbolism. When they get their back behind something, they really do a lot of good. For example, the late Duke of Edinburghs scheme, that has received plaudits internationally. And the Invictus games has been a success, to give Suffolk credit, to name but two.

I must admit I have a certain fascination with the British royals as well (currently watching "The Crown", too), because the monarchy provides a kind of constant national soap opera that is so completely unlike politics over here.

You obviously aren't tracking much of American social media. The most common video content on those two has little to do with Harry, and a lot to do with Meghan. Mostly women detailing her toxic narcissist symptoms, which are all too common here (which I found out myself thee hard way in my last dysfunctional relationship).
