Another H&k Upgrade Program For The Sa80

As far as bullpups go, there are more "boutique" options:

In Range TV's evaluation of an early example nearly sank the project, but Desert Tech went away and rapidly fixed the problems. .

Pity the owners' family is implicated in some dodgy social security fraud.

Not only social security fraud, but they seem to be a family of an odd Mormon offshoot sect.

It worked unlike L85 and "dead end" does not really matter if you replace rifles every 20-30 years anyway, as you should. Or Steyr AUG, available since 1977, since you were dead set on bullpup back then.

FAMAS shares its fate with the Transall and Roland and other discontinued systems, a lack of investment and a lost manufacturing base. If there had been more big buyers of the FAMAS outside France there would probably still be a factory for it. But wiht all the reductions in the nineties and the French Army kicking modernizations and simply overhauls down the road...

The story of the Falkalnd Regiment adopting the Steyr AUG is a funny one. London gave them the order toreplace their old L1 SLRs with a bullpup rifle (implying the SA80 rifles, but not directly saying it). Instead they bought FAMAS, AUG and SA80 rifles and made their own tests and picked the AUG in the end. Makes me wonder why they do not just buy either replacements from Steyr again or just get a repair and overhaul.

Steyr's implosion a decade ago prolly freaked them out.

Did they consider the Ozzie upgraded AUG?

I don't know, but it does make sense to have the same kit as the garrison where possible to piggyback off their logistics. The Falkands are in the middle of nowhere after all.

Agreed.
