Mr King Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 maybe she suffers PTSD after the sniper fire incident Obama must have been there too.
rmgill Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 Someone sent out talking points alright. Getting worked up over someone refering to Christians worshipping at Easter like Christians are supposed to as Easter worshippers rather than Christians (on Twitter, that well-known medium for elaborate theological treatises) is some quite highly refined pearl clutching. You might even say it's positively Muslim in its sensitivity to perceived offenses against ones faith. I've seen Ben Shapiro make a clear point mirroring what Mr King posts above. The framing is clearly biased.

No, no, no.....it is clearly right wing talking points that Hillary and Obama coincidentally had the same talking points avoiding language using the word Christian.
Harold Jones Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 Who knew the far right had taken over Germany. https://www.dw.com/en/german-politicians-denounce-growing-violence-against-christians/a-48445778 German politicians across the political spectrum said the persecution of Christians worldwide is growing. Their statements came after a spate of bomb attacks on churches and hotels in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday.
Markus Becker Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 Could there be elections in the not too distant future? Jokes aside, its IMO noise from have beens and never weres. Except from Gigold, the Green.

Mr King Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 Obama and Hillary are from the party of "some people did something" so what else should we really expect?

Obama and Hillary are from the party of "some people did something" so what else should we really expect? The art of saying nothing. Reminds me of our politician here not saying mulim or islam. One theory making the rounds is, that foreign services instigated the group who had so far only attacked hindu and bhuddist temples, because China has Sri Lanka in its new silk road. The harbor of Hambantota (sp?) has been leased to the chinese for 99 years and the government got loans from China. Blamed on the US or UK respectively. Edited April 23, 2019 by Panzermann
WRW Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 I wonder did the impetus and technical knowhow come from a caliphate returnee - if so Europe will soon have similar
Harold Jones Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 Many faiths? Which other than christian has easter? edit: others have picked up on the framing too. Easter and Passover coincided this weekend, although I'm not sure that two constitutes many.
RETAC21 Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 Many faiths? Which other than christian has easter? The Jews, evidently.
Panzermann Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 Many faiths? Which other than christian has easter? The Jews, evidently. But that is passover and only incidently was on the same day, because easter moves around with the first spring moon. And passover is distincly not Easter. Maybe she meant ignorant pagans, that still believe there was a godess named Ostara?
BansheeOne Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 I've seen Ben Shapiro make a clear point mirroring what Mr King posts above. The framing is clearly biased. The phrasing "tourists and Easter worshippers" was clearly awkward, trying to fit the likely fact that not all targets were Christians into 280 characters. The fact that Obama and Clinton used the same phrase speaks for them copying each other, or having the same PR team. The only legitimate offense in the whole process was to the intelligence of average people who don't need some pundits to form an opinion, and know that those worshipping at Easter in churches tend to be Christians. The importance others place on this ridiculous affair is a prime example why contemporary American political discourse is not to be taken serious.

Yes, who has ever heard of politicians conveying political messaging through social media. This is just an artifact of our silly American imaginations and the Twitter character limit. Now excuse me while I go have a cup of covfefe.
BansheeOne Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 You really want to debate on the overlap of Christians and Easter worshippers, or the claim that the latter term is an invention unheard of so far? Better have your programmer update your reply subroutines to the current game version then.
MiloMorai Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 I know people who only go to Church on Easter and Christmas.

Tell me besides for the tone, language, and specificity, what else is different between Hillary's two tweets. Here is a hint, my latest NPC upgrade included calculation firmware.
rmgill Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 The phrasing "tourists and Easter worshippers" was clearly awkward, trying to fit the likely fact that not all targets were Christians into 280 characters. Why not "tourists and Christians"? 'Easter Worshipers' is fewer characters than 'Christians'? The fact that Obama and Clinton used the same phrase speaks for them copying each other, or having the same PR team. Or that they view the world through the same Overton window. The only legitimate offense in the whole process was to the intelligence of average people who don't need some pundits to form an opinion, and know that those worshipping at Easter in churches tend to be Christians. Quote right. We can form our own opinions with out needing to have them confirmed by folks like Hillary and Barry who are, at this point just pundits. The importance others place on this ridiculous affair is a prime example why contemporary American political discourse is not to be taken serious. After Christchurch there was a rampant move to clamp down on all manner of things. What's the response here? Was the NZ response silly?
rmgill Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 (edited) I know people who only go to Church on Easter and Christmas. I'm pretty sure they would still count as unbelievers to the radical Islamists regardless of their frequency of attendance. If I go to church no times a year because I'm an atheist, do I get more or less of a pass from the hard line readers of islamic law? Edited April 23, 2019 by rmgill
Mr King Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 At first I actually shared Banshee's opinion about the whole fuss being a right wing narrative with no meat to it when I saw it starting to surface, then I bothered to compare the actual tweets.
shep854 Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 To a goodly portion of the world, simply being 'White/Western/European' still gets you lumped in as a 'Christian'.
sunday Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 To a goodly portion of the world, simply being 'White/Western/European' still gets you lumped in as a 'Christian'. Not so along, the Western World was still known by its original name, Christianity.
JasonJ Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 HRC's tweet comparison does clearly show the political correctness that has been going on in the US environment. There really shouldn't be a lash-back about it though for that degree of it if it was an isolated case. But its the whole reason why Trump got elected in 2016 to begin with. The appropriate thing to have stated it with Christians. It was a bombing at a church during Easter mass so clearly a target on Christianity.
