Corinthian Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 (edited) Video floating around the net of the shooting live streamed shows a gunman entering a mosque and shooting, first with a shotgun, then with a rifle. I may sound insensitive but the video looks like a first person shooter game (not saying I think it's fake, just saying it reminds me of first person shooter games). Gregory Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 Shooter(s?) is apparently a white supremacist, aiming to kick of a race/culture war. Horrible, horrible.
toysoldier Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 Shooter(s?) is apparently a white supremacist, aiming to kick of a race/culture war. Horrible, horrible. In New Zealand of all places. One country that has tried real hard to come together culturally.
DougRichards Posted March 15, 2019 Author Posted March 15, 2019 Forty dead, in a small country, in a small city. So hard to believe. I know that the Australian PM has been in contact with the NZ PM, I am hoping that Australia is mobilising and sending any medical help that it can. I suspect that the NZ Police and Armed Forces have things under as much control as they can, but again, as during the Christchurch earthquakes, when Australia sent police and rescue teams to assist, that Australian personnel are already gearing up to go.
Stuart Galbraith Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 NZ PM was claiming they suspects they have arrested were Australian born, which likely means nothing, other than perhaps Australia needs to be wary there isnt an offshoot of the same group there that might try to stir things up. Think they have arrested 4 people so far from what I heard.

Think they have arrested 4 people so far from what I heard. He probably moved to NZ as he didn't like the way Australia was going (numerous terrorist plots here, shooting of Curtis Cheng https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015_Parramatta_shooting , plot to attack Holdsworthy Barracks https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holsworthy_Barracks_terror_plot , Plot to attack Lucas Heights Nuclear Faculty http://www.abc.net.au/worldtoday/content/2005/s1506095.htm , Lindt Cafe hostage crisis https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_Sydney_hostage_crisis
DougRichards Posted March 15, 2019 Author Posted March 15, 2019 Quoting MSM “I can confirm that the individual is an Australian-born citizen,” Prime Minister Scott Morrison said this evening, describing him as a “right-wing, extremist terrorist”.Police Commissioner Mike Bush tonight said “a man in his late 20s” had been charged with murder but would not confirm his identity. At least 49 people are dead and some 20 remain seriously injured after the shootings at both Al Noor Mosque in the city’s centre and Masjid mosque in the suburb of Linwood.Three other people were apprehended today but police now say one of those individuals was not connected to the attacks. Two others are “associates” of the main gunman.
DougRichards Posted March 15, 2019 Author Posted March 15, 2019 I was working in a Court Registry in Sydney on the day of the Lindt Cafe siege and volunteered to staff the place when the rest of the staff were to be sent home. We did not really know what the fucque was going on, but as I was relatively old and figured that most of my life had been lived I stayed. It turned out that where I worked was not at risk (there were reports of explosive devices located around the city), but we did not know that at the time. Another, younger bloke, also volunteered to stay for a while. Our security staff (private contractors - more power to them) were on alert. It turned out that the Lindt Cafe bastard had something against us (the court involved) as well, but we were not to know. I was pleased to hear that the perp was terminated but so very much (times 100) less pleased to hear about the other casualties. It tends to bring things close to home when a person of the religion of peace causes terror in one's backyard. On the other hand, attacks against the "religion of peace" just gives those adherents the excuse for further attacks. No excuses should be given and no civilised state should tolerate attacks.
Zero_Alpha Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 Casualty count currently stands at 49 dead, 48 wounded. New Zealand is a tiny nation. The dead toll is the population-equivalent of 3,200 in the USA. Everyone will have a connection with a victim.
Zero_Alpha Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 (edited) The Christchurch mosque shootings occurred at Al Noor Mosque and the Linwood Islamic Centre in Christchurch, New Zealand, commencing at 13:40 on 15 March 2019 NZDT (00:40 UTC). At least 49 people have been killed in the shootings. Police found two car bombs, which the authorities disarmed. Four suspects were arrested by the police. The attack is the first mass shooting in New Zealand since the 1997 Raurimu massacre,[2][3][4] and has been described as a terrorist attack by Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and multiple governments internationally.[5][6] Mosques nation wide have been placed under guard by armed Police. Public events have been cancelled against a backdrop of a raised terror alert level. Government agencies have raised their protective security postures. Reports of military response have been limited, although various defence force assets are known to have been employed, and the bomb-disposal capability is provided to NZ Police by E Squadron Charitable donations are being directed to the volunteer organisation that provides support to victims here Edited March 15, 2019 by Zero_Alpha

Stuart Galbraith Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 (edited) There is a claim on CNN that among the wounded (Not clear if its among the dead or not) are children. Many people were shot in the back as they were running away, and several car bombs have been recovered. So thankfully he knows less about bomb making than he does shooting. Confirmation he was streaming this live on Facebook. All 17 minutes worth. Edited March 15, 2019 by Stuart Galbraith
WRW Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 (edited) I seem to have lost my earlier message one or two gun men? time line and ballistics will tell who are these associates ? - maybe bomb planters who is number 4 poi - could be mosque security gun man seems to have an interest in Serbian history and indeed history have just seen some of the video- her school kids have sent it round - my first thought was looks likes a video game this video being around is going to stir a lot of trouble Edited March 15, 2019 by WRW
Stuart Galbraith Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 I cant bring myself to watch it. There was a very graphic description on CNN of what it contains, of a woman shot from a distance, seen begging for her life, then being dispatched with a head-shot. I can do without seeing shit like that. I pity the families who know that footage of their loved ones being murdered is going to bounce around cyberspace for the next million years or so. Or at least till the next one.
Daan Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 (edited) For those interested in the live-stream, it can be found here. Obviously NOT SAFE FOR WORK The first shooting starts at around 6:25. The perpetrator had trouble operating its firearms, dropping loaded magazines on the ground and having to pick them up later on. Afterwards he drives around and shoots some people in the streets through his car windows. He also reflects on the earlier shooting and what went wrong from his point of view. Stuart Galbraith Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 According to BBC, the Bangladesh Cricket Team, whom are in NZ for a Test Match, had to run for the lives from one of the Mosques. Understandably the 3rd Test had been cancelled.
WRW Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 seems second mosque attack was stopped by armed worshiper (he is probably 1 of the 4 initially referred to - well done) I am trying to get a copy of the manifesto to download - have seen to read but now download - can anyone help
Stuart Galbraith Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 (edited) Ive not read it, and to be honest, ive no wish to. its apparently in the form of an address to himself, references many online references (I can guess which ones) and also there is a passing reference to Anders Brevick. He also called for the assassination of the London Mayor Sadiq Khan, Angela Merkel and President Erdogan.Thats all I need to know really. Edited March 15, 2019 by Stuart Galbraith
