2019 Islamic Terror Attacks

Recommended Posts

France tries to treat a pair of Radical Islamists like a normal criminal and his wife. Result: Radicalized wife brings a knife with her for family visit, two guards get slashed when radicalized criminal goes 'Aloha Snackbar', responding police have to shoot both radicals. Wife dies, criminal keeps on wasting oxygen:

Pregnant wife of Islamic terrorist inmate is shot dead by police after smuggling knife into his jail during conjugal visit so he could stab two guards in France

The pregnant wife of a radicalised inmate who helped her husband stab two officers during a 'conjugal visit' to a French prison was shot dead by anti-terrorist police on Tuesday.

Michael Chiolo, 27, and his wife had locked themselves inside the 'family facility' of the high security Alencon-Conde-sur-Sarthe prison in Normandy, after he attacked two guards while shouting 'Alluhu Akbar' – Arabic for 'God is the Greatest'.

The couple launched a ten-hour standoff from inside the room, after which police moved in and shot and injured them both, fatally wounding the unnamed woman.

Despite being described by a judge as a 'psychopath' before being handed a 30-year-sentence in 2014 for murdering a Holocaust survivor, Chiolo had been granted regular family visits.

Describing today's original drama, French Justice Minister Nicole Belloubet said: 'The terrorist nature of this attack isn't in doubt.

'The anti-terrorist section of the public prosecutor's office of Paris is involved in the incident, which is ongoing.'

The fanaticism of Radical Islamists once again proves to know no bounds.

And in New Zealand(!) we have a terrorist attack, but this time its at a mosque and Muslims were the likely target:

  • Multiple people have been shot dead in shootings at two mosques in the New Zealand city of Christchurch during Friday afternoon prayers.

  • Four suspects – three men and a woman – are in custody and multiple explosive devices have been found attached to cars in the city. Earlier, police warned they were still tracing an active shooter.

  • Police commissioner Mike Bush urged everyone to avoid all mosques across the country. He told residents in Christchurch: “Close your doors until you hear from us again.”

  • The prime minister, Jacinda Ardern, said it was “One of New Zealand’s darkest days”, calling the attacks “an unprecedented act of violence”.

  • The city has been placed in lockdown, with schools and public buildings closed. Nearby climate change protests were evacuated and council staff have been looking after children separated from their relatives in the chaos.

  • Ardern spoke of the attacker’s motivation, saying the victims might include refugees and migrants. “They are us,” she said, before saying the perpetrator “has no place in New Zealand”.

I'm ashamed to admit that when I first heard this story after feeling shock and anger I was actually slightly relieved that this had not in the USA. It's still a horror, though, and it will likely spawn terrorist reprisals.

The world we live in sucks in so many ways.

Attacks on houses of worship -mosques specifically included- are only unusual in the first world. Had that also happened in the third like the one in January it would have gotten scant coverage.

Last October's failed attack on a German high speed train was the work of the IS. As another attempt in February. No weapons were used but objects to derail the trains.

Looks like we got have another Amis Amri, well the poor man's version. Like the Berlin terrorist he's an illegal -reportedly Syrian- who came here in 2015 and could stay here despite a criminal record. He also stole a truck and rammed a couple of cars, injuring nine. Also pointing to a terrorist motive, the state media's insistence that nothing is known yet and the investigation is going into all directions. Private MSM is not disinforming:

if only there was some sort of common denominator that could serve as flag to help us see a pattern.

You know, like if all the terrorists shared something in common. Then we could start monitoring the likely pattern and reduce the number of successful attacks.

nah...

You mean like being "native" or recent immigrant white males with far-right leanings, gun fetishes, and social media accounts?

Judged deliberate, but no terrorist motive found, so the investigation has reverted from the State Office for Criminal Investigations to local police. Would have been a strange plot, too - why ram cars waiting at a traffic light just a couple meters from where he stole the truck, rather than driving off and plowing into a crowd somewhere with a far greater likelihood of hurting much more people much more severely?

Outdated thread, but it's obviously a good thing there haven't been enough Islamic terror attacks in the West since to warrant newer ones outside those dealing with specific countries like France. Yet:

Belgian police shoot suspect in deadly Brussels attack

Officials in Belgium have confirmed a man who shot dead two Swedish football fans in Brussels was killed by police during his arrest. The city had been on high alert following what officials called a "terrorist attack."

Police in Brussels on Tuesday morning shot a man suspected of carrying out the fatal shooting of two Swedish nationals in the city center on Monday night.

Interior Minister Annelies Verlinden later confirmed that the suspect was killed after police encountered him in a cafe in the Belgian capital's Schaerbeek neighborhood.

"The perpetrator of the terrorist attack in Brussels has been identified and has died," Verlinden wrote on social media.

What we know so far

Belgium had raised the security alert status of Brussels to the highest level in the wake of the attack, ramping up police presence. Officers tracked down the suspect after an intensive manhunt.

The automatic rifle found close to the person who was shot was the same weapon as the one used during the Monday evening attack, Interior Minister Verlinden told broadcaster VRT.

Two Swedish nationals were shot dead in the attack and a third one was wounded. The suspect fled the scene in central Brussels after the shooting, as a football match between Belgium and Sweden was about to start. The match was subsequently called off.

The suspect, who had identified himself as a member of the so-called "Islamic State" terror group, claimed responsibility in a video posted online.

Earlier, Belgian Prime Minister Alexander de Croo said the suspect was a man of Tunisian origin who was living in Belgium illegally.

The attacker was known to police in connection with people smuggling. He had unsuccessfully sought asylum in Belgium in November 2019.
