His books where quick easy and enjoyable reads.

He covered a lot of territory in his writing. World War II through today. Regular soldiers, marines, special forces, spies and cops. He wrote almost 250 books, increadable.

For a while he has written with his son as co-author.

Tom Clancey has been gone for years but they still put books out under his name like it is a brand. They may do the same with Griffin / Butterworth.

It bugged me when he suddenly time-jumped the Badge of Honor series 30 years. I was really enjoying the way he captured the feel of the 70s.

Forgot about that, but you're right he really nailed the feel of the 70s. The jump was annoying but either the series ended a book or two after that or I stopped reading them at that point, not sure which it was.
