Limited service, M1919s were converted to 7.9x57mm in late '50s and Garands retired (IIRC there was only 6000 of those). Unconverted infantry 1919s stayed in storage until end of Yugoslavia and saw sporadic use in Bosnia. 7.9x33mm - in use by paratroopers, main caliber until 1967. and aquisition of AKMS and RPKS for paratroopers as an intermediate armament until final standardization. 7.62x39mm - formally in use since 1961., but real widespread use from 1967. .303 - stayed in the airfield defense role until late 1960s, was used in the prison service until early '80s. Saw re-introduction again when MP-5s were acquired (for both police and army) in 1977. .45 ACP - 3rd most common pistol caliber until late 1960s, and common SMG caliber. Thompsons were used by the army until 1969. (mostly by the border guards after late '50s) when those were transferred to a territorial defense inventory. Police used them until 1992-93.
