BansheeOne Posted May 9, 2018 Posted May 9, 2018 While watching the video to Mustasch's "Libertà", I remembered the very similar one to Ace of Base's quite different "Romantis". Apparently the Swedish music industry has a short line to their air force.
BansheeOne Posted May 9, 2018 Author Posted May 9, 2018 More Swedes in the first, but how about some ACW images?
BansheeOne Posted May 9, 2018 Author Posted May 9, 2018 And some love for the modern man on the ground.
BansheeOne Posted May 9, 2018 Author Posted May 9, 2018 There is "Top Gun", and then there are Top Gun wannabes.

JasonJ Posted May 9, 2018 Posted May 9, 2018 (edited) Ah forgot music videos. Technically not a music video but just a sound track above. Not much to offer from my end, particularly in comparison to some of the videos already posted, so... Edited May 9, 2018 by JasonJ
Stuart Galbraith Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 I remember this infuriatingly catchy number from Jona Lewie in 1981.
Stuart Galbraith Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 And of course, not forgetting the totally rasta Buffalo Soldier. There was a lot of military themed songs in the UK in the early 1980s. The Falklands war and the deteriorating relationship with the USSR I guess.
Stuart Galbraith Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 This one is a bit different. Its Pink Floyds 'The Gunners Dream', all about the lasts words of an air gunner on a Bomber as he expires over Germany (it was Pink Floyds most depressing album after all, though thats not necessarily a criticism) which annoyingly they never seem to have to have done an offical video for, perhaps not surprisingly. This poster set it to an exceptionally good piece of animation I seem to recall was called 'Paths of Hate' which fits it nearly perfectly.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLn9Uudh-WU
BansheeOne Posted May 10, 2018 Author Posted May 10, 2018 I remember this infuriatingly catchy number from Jona Lewie in 1981. I love that piece, it's on my main playlist. Never saw the video. Speaking of British songs with not necessarily an adulating attitude towards military service, I see Status Quo made a new video for "You're in the Army Now" with a more uplifting text than the 80's original in 2010.
Der Zeitgeist Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 (edited) I'm surprised no one brought this up, but here goes. The Kosovo Song, recorded by Norwegian KFOR soldiers. Edited May 10, 2018 by Der Zeitgeist
BansheeOne Posted May 10, 2018 Author Posted May 10, 2018 Tangentially to Status Quo, the delectable Kate Bush from the same year 1986. And the Cranberry's take on the Irish Troubles.

The Quo is one of those bands in the UK everyone sneered at. But like Phil Collins, they still went out and bought their Albums. I liked that one as well. Re the Jona Lewie song, Paul McCartney did a similar video for his 1983 song 'Pipes of Peace', based on the 1914 Christmas Truce. The video is interesting. There was a bit of a scandal about it because the mess it made took ages to grow back. Edited May 10, 2018 by Stuart Galbraith
BansheeOne Posted May 10, 2018 Author Posted May 10, 2018 More tanks are needed. Tanks are always handy.
Stuart Galbraith Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 This was from the Pink Floyds 'The Wall', or the movie of it. I think the political cartoonist Gerald Scarfe did the animation in this, and its an excellent piece of work. One of the most underated piece's by Floyd too, I think.

Posting two since they are part of the same story arc, even if only the second has a war theme. And spanking. Lots of spanking.
Stuart Galbraith Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 (edited) Oh and Christina Aguilera. Because it ticks all my boxes. Edited May 10, 2018 by Stuart Galbraith
