Sitting at the sales stall, are a couple of bored-looking employees - the sign above them said: Forest City. Where Happiness Never Ends Goes to Die.
futon Posted October 5 Posted October 5 Rescue is appreciated. TOKYO -- Chinese social media is buzzing about the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (MSDF)'s recent rescue of a Chinese national off east Japan's Chiba Prefecture, mostly praising the Japanese force's action and expressing gratitude. Some users of platforms Weibo and WeChat criticized major Chinese news outlets for not covering this more, with one post saying, "State media should have reported it." According to the MSDF and the Japan Coast Guard's 3rd Regional Coast Guard Headquarters, a Chinese research vessel located approximately 1,000 kilometers southeast of Cape Inubo, Chiba Prefecture, in the waters east of the Ogasawara Islands, requested a rescue on the morning of Sept. 26, reporting that a crew member had severed his left index finger when his hand got caught in a rope reel. The regional headquarters then requested disaster dispatch from the Self-Defense Forces. The MSDF sent amphibious rescue aircraft US-2 from the Iwakuni base in Yamaguchi Prefecture, and the 50-year-old man was rescued the following day, then about 590 kilometers southeast of Cape Inubo, and transported to a hospital. When the Japanese Embassy in China posted about the incident on Weibo on the night of Sept. 27, it received many responses such as "thank you" and "I hope that if the roles were reversed, China would respond professionally like this." The reaction on Chinese social media was likely influenced by the recent fatal stabbing of a 10-year-old boy on his way to a Japanese school in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, in mid-September. An article posted on WeChat by a Chinese blogger, introducing the news from Japan, was read by tens of thousands of people, and the comments included, "This kind of news is deeply touching especially after the (stabbing) incident." In an interview with the Mainichi Shimbun, an official from the regional headquarters said, "While there are concerns about Japan-China relations, we will continue with life-saving operations as we always have." An MSDF spokesperson expressed hope that this recent rescue could have a positive impact on Japan-China relations. https://mainichi.jp/english/articles/20241005/p2a/00m/0in/003000c

Tim the Tank Nut Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Well, I lived long enough to agree with Chairman Xi. I did not expect that. Just goes to show you CAN find common ground if you look hard enough.
