Houston...One sunny, steamy July Sunday, here in BHAM, I was directing traffic at church just as the heat kicked in. A van pulled up, and the family piled out. I struck up a welcoming conversation with Dad, and he was almost rhapsodic about how wonderful the weather was. Taken a bit aback, I asked where they were from...Houston.

This bit of data made me appreciate central Alabama even more...

NOLA Bane: You merely adopted the humidity. I was raised in it. MOLDED by it. I didn't know what dry heat was until I went to Texas and I found it STIFLING!

It was 50 F last night, and they expect 90+F by Monday/Tuesday. Welcome to the state that only has three seasons: Summer, Still Summer, and 'Bout to be Summer.

Sadly this is not happening in California, it is happening in my beloved Texas. Everyone who heard about it assumed that this occurred in California or the Left Coast area. Nope, a completely nuts mother has decided that she wanted a girl, so she is going to alter her son. She needs to go to prison for Endangering a child. Thank goodness DFPS and the AG are looking into this sick mother. Once the kid turns 18, hey he can do whatever he wants. This is the drug companies attempting to make a buck since they lost the post menopause gravy train. https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2019/10/breaking-texas-ags-office-and-department-of-family-and-protective-services-looking-into-7-year-old-boys-gender-transition-case-jamesyounger/

This particular story is making news, and raising disgust, here in Australia. One of my problems is that a JURY decided to allow the mother to do this. Why was a jury allowed anywhere near this matter?

Good question, and I am curious how the case went, and how much evidence the dad was allowed to present. It sounds like the only evidence presented was pro-transvestite "experts".

I desperately hope this is a bridge too far for progressives and their sick, perverted minions.

Doesn't look like it , the Washington Bezos Post is all in on it happening. https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/10/24/watch-james-younger-at-3-years-mommy-tells-me-im-a-girl/ Also the Governor needs to put the hurry up on this before the Jury's verdict is final, and the deranged mom takes the kid off to some quack who will dose him with God knows what drugs. Mom needs to go to prison, and any doctor who participates needs prison and to lose their license to practice medicine. https://hotair.com/archives/jazz-shaw/2019/10/24/texas-investigating-mom-turning-7-year-old-boy-girl/

The Judge did the right thing possibly and awarded Dad joint custody. Mom is the one who allegedly made the "diagnosis", although she wanted a daughter and has been telling the boy he is a girl since he was three. Mom needs mental help, and jail if she is pumping the kid full of drugs. https://www.breitbart.com/health/2019/10/24/report-judge-grants-jeffrey-younger-joint-guardianship-over-transitioning-son/

Well I just got back from the famous Texas Renaissance Festival north of Houston, at Todd Mission. As usual there were acres of costumes, some strange, some great, and some best left in the dumpster. Had a great time with the kids (who both forgot their costumes), I went as a grumpy old dude with a Nikon. My brother and his wife were there, and we had a great time, Last year they estimate over 670,000 attendees over the course of the Festival. Spent too d@mn much money, but the kids and I had a great time. But it is good to be home. Lupe had to go to a wedding of a niece so she could not go, bummer. But she got the 45th anniversary T-shirt!

Nah, she had a good time at the wedding. The niece announced she was preggers, so everyone was happy. (They married earlier, then did the Church thing yesterday).

Well I made the trip to Boerne to the Black Rifle Coffee Company store front and coffee shop. It is nice, and of course there is a gun store attached! "Murica F**k Yes!" So I got my usual, and am sitting on the sofa watching the people while using their free wifi. My latte is meh. My local place makes a better one which is a whole lot less bitter. But they have lots of swag, but no Combat Cocoa which my oldest loves. Glad I made the trip, now off to the Tandoor Palace to eat Indian food which is my Friday routine. Lots of cops here, and some obviously armed citizens (including me). Great place, next time I will try the Chemex brew to see how it tastes.

Now off to Gobi Aloo, Sag Paneer, and other yummy delights. The guy who owns the Tandoor Palace had to rename it from the Bombay Kitchen because the local Indian community threatened him for keeping a "colonial" name. That sucks. This place is so friendly it is like eating at your own home. My kids love it as well.

I am utterly crushed, my favorite coffee shop that makes THE BEST cup and best Latte I have ever had is closing for good on the 14th of December, their landlord jacked the rent, and they cannot afford anywhere else. This sucks. This sucks rocks.

Sorry to have to reply in this way, but the reports were that she was suffering from anxiety and depression. Given those medical conditions should probably (or certainly) not have had access to firearms.

Gun control activist kills herself with a gun after shooting her three children. https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/a-waste-texas-gun-control-activist-shoots-her-three-children-dead-in-murder-suicide

Probably wouldn't have helped she would have found another way to do it. Firearms are just tools very effective tools but still only tools. It's the person behind the tool that causes the problem. If someone is determined enough to cause harm to themselves or others there is very few ways to stop them. Restricting their access to one tool means they are just going to find another.

We're in a technological age. Plenty of ways to kill yourself with things other than guns.

Looks like Australia has a gun suicide problem. Make sure you address that first. Why can't you be as successful as Japan and South Korea on your gun suicides?

Out of idle and rather morbid curiosity, I wonder what you think that chart means.
