You know, I was, but wait five minutes and the weather will change.  Next week is supposed to be in the 80's again.  It is supposed to be even colder tonight.  My brother had 18F and 5F windchill in Marble Falls.

Saturday it was 90!!! freaking degrees in FEBRUARY!

Last week I drove from Georgia...where it was the day before I left, 70°. I drove to PA where it was sub freezing and had just snowed. Then drove to Iowa where it was 3°F. Then I drove back to Atlanta just ahead of that storm that clobbered Kentucky. It's 60° here.

Needless to say I got a cold.

So here is an odd story;

A police ambush, like one in Dallas that left five cops dead, has been stopped before it could happen, the FBI announced in Texas Monday.

'FBI Corpus Christi and local partners have thwarted another mass casualty attack,' the federal agency revealed in a tweet.

'FBI Corpus and @CorpusChristiPD arrested Seth aka Andrea Gregori today on state charges filed by @NuecesCoDA after he planned an attack on police similar to the 2016 Dallas ambush.'

Investigators in the Lone Star State have not revealed specific details on the planned attack.

One of the odd things is that Corpus is majority Latino;

Unlike Austin, Houston, and Dallas, I have the impression that CC is not really a hotbed of political activity. Most everybody is busy fishing for flounder, redfish, and speckled trout. A pic of the arrestee is on the Internet now, along with his name, but still no details. His surname is Italian, amusingly.

Not uncommon among Hispanics of South American heritage. My Argentinian friend has an Italian last name.

'Argentinians are just Spanish-speaking Italians'

Andrea is a not-unusual first name for male Italianos, though it purportedly comes from Greek. Andrew is a Germanification of Andrea, I suppose.

TMK, that part of Texas is not a hotbed of Italian immigration. Given the fishing industry there, one would expect to see tons of Portogeese and Vietnamese, and the latter has been my experience there.

It is a quite old Argentinian say:

El mexicano viene del azteca, el peruano del inca y el argentino del barco.

That would be Southern Mexico/Guatemala, and the saying is not mine.

“A tragic and alarming incident occurred near Brownsville, Texas, where a U.S. citizen and  Texas rancher was killed by an improvised explosive device (IED). This shocking act of violence highlights the growing threat posed by cartel activity along our southern border.

I urge all Texas farmers, ranchers, and agricultural workers who travel to Mexico or operate near the border to exercise extreme caution. The Lower Rio Grande Valley (LRGV) is a crucial part of Texas agriculture, and the safety of our agricultural community is of utmost importance. We cannot overlook the rising violence that threatens not only lives but also the security of our farms, ranches, and rural communities.

Antonio Céspedes Saldierna, 74, was killed at the end of January when his vehicle detonated an IED on his ranch in San Fernando, Tamaulipas, Mexico, according to local Rio Grande Valley’s KRGV-TV Channel 5, the local ABC affiliate. Tamaulipas borders the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas.

Horacio Lopez Peña was also killed in the explosion, and his wife was severely injured.

San Fernando, Tamaulipas is about 90 miles from Brownsville TX. Interestingly, the SpaceX launch complex is about 2 miles from the border, maybe 12 miles east of Brownsville proper.

In the good ol' days, the local economies of border towns combined both sides of the line. This crap only hurts the working class down there.

Ok, something I don't think I have ever seen, certainly unusual, inventive, and sends a message, regrettably illegal.

https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2025/03/texas-embalmer-arrested-after-castrating-corpse-sex-offender/

An embalmer in Houston was arrested and charged with abuse of a corpse this week after allegedly castrating a dead sex offender, stabbing him twice and shoving his severed genitals down his throat.

Amber Laudermilk allegedly committed the crime in front of an embalming student at the Memorial Mortuary & Crematory last month.

Laudermilk allegedly told the student, “You didn’t see anything,” after she took a scalpel to 58-year-old Charles Roy Rodriguez’s groin.

The New York Post reported that according to the charging documents, when questioned why Rodriguez was “disfigured,” Laudermilk said he had “a lot going on with him.”

It is unclear how Laudermilk knew Rodriguez was a sex offender. He was convicted of sexually assaulting a woman back in 2001.

Police said Laudermilk turned herself in and a $5,000 bond has been set.
