AIUI, the natural gas producers had existing contracts with northern states. If Texas gas-fired power plants were starved of natural gas, seems likely they were 2nd or 3rd in line for a critical resource during an abnormally cold winter.

As for pipelines freezing, ISTR it was the pumping stations that were not properly winterized.

If you have never dealt with these things, they are both dangerous, and a wrecking crew.  Feral Hogs are a menace to drivers (hitting one can cause a car to flip), aggressive to people, and destroy things left and right.  My brother had his $1,500 deer feeder knocked over by them, and trashed.  So he and his daughter sat out one weekend with their "hog guns" (.300 blackout) and harvested 40+ of them.  All in all, in four weeks, he, his daughter, and hunting partners got over 100 of them.  

My first sheriff was catching them in traps, and then selling them to some Yuppie from Dallas for .50 cents a pound, and the guy was taking them to Dallas, having them slaughtered, and then selling "Free Range Organic Pork" to the other Yuppies in Dallas at $7.50/lb or more, making a killing.  My old Sheriff made good coin off of this.  They breed like rats.

feral hogs as either road kill or hunted down are population 'contributions' to wildlife sanctuaries that specialize in gators and crocs. Pork is very much appreciated by the big reptiles--ripping it apart makes 'em feel like they're back in the wild

Probably tasted much better then the factory farm stuff. When I was a teenager, I got to eat some wild hog that had been smoked. My goodness that was some good stuff.

I like the enthusiastic and creative ways Texans hunt wild pigs. I have seen them set up everything from explosive traps, to mini guns and machine guns on helos.

My brother also did the Tannerite Hog Hunting thing.  Blew about a dozen into little chunks of pig meat.  He and his partners on their hunting grounds are on a mission to eliminate all the feral pigs they can due to the damage they do to everything.
