I know this should probably go elsewhere, but I wanted to post in a forum people actually read... The forum is nice and all, but kinda 1990s. I was going to suggest that we form Discord channel, which would actually let us, you know, like talk to each other in real time. It would probably be best if some mod or TN official do it, but in theory, any of us could create one, and you know, bring us into the current century.

One of the reasons I mention this, is I'm part of another military forum, Shipbucket, and our Discord channel works quite nicely with the regular forum. Slightly different community, but should do just as well here.

What about people living in different time zone's ?

You'd just sign on to the channel, whenever you happen to feel like it, and see who else is signed on at the time. With Shipbucket, we have members from around the world, and it works fine. As I said, I'd prefer our moderator or someone officially connected to the site to create this channel, however.

This is the Shipbucket Discord if anyone wants to see how it works. https://discordapp.com/channels/288016775533166592/288016775533166592 You don't have to download anything to use Discord, just register a username.

As a side note, I tried to send the Moderator a message, but apparently, that can't be done. Is there anyone else connected to the site who I might be able to contact?

Hell just set one up and post the link. I don't think we've ever had much participation in other non forum forms of conversation but there's no harm in trying.

There is the Facebook Tank Net group, but it is more of a safe haven in case of forum outgages.

Still it's just a very small subset of the forum regulars and semi-regulars. I think the demographics of the site skew towards folks who are comfortable posting in a discussion thread but aren't really all that into things like text chat or voice channels. In person meetings also work pretty well but I don't think we've ever had more than the high teens at any given I&I.

I have a discord account for gaming but don't really hang around in any channels just chatting if I'm not playing.
