 You only have to look at the experience of Italian Americans. The Godfather was quite right about how the Mafia got a foothold in America. There has always been 'others', they weren't always defined by politics and different skin.

Every immigration wave of the mid/late 1800s and early 1900s featured hostility from locals. Irish, Italian, German, Polish, German/Polish/Russian Jews, etc. I'll let our swampass contingent pass comment on the Acadians.

Absolutely, but the point is they were not instantly accepted as Americans, even if the paperwork is in order.This is always the case with immigrants everywhere, even if they are legals. My own country had 'No blacks or Irish' signs up in places to let.

It was AFAIK the single largest one day protest half a century, and at least it was non violent unlike patriotic parkour day in 2020. It likely changes nothing short term, but it hardly is a good harbinger for the midterms. As for the demographics - it should I think be incredibly scary for republicans that the people who show up for elections most consistently are protesting them in those numbers. If this was anything like the last one, independent voters were very widely represented. My mom was at the one in Fort Wayne, and apparently ruby red IN drew a total of 60,000 protesters.

There was an an awful lot of calls for assassinations and people still dancing on the grave of Charlie Kirk.  But as I noted elsewhere, since it wasn't Leftist blood that was spilled, it was all very peaceful.
