Did anybody here not know that like 2 years ago?

Do we need to explain The Onion as well?

Take this with a grain of salt, but it won't be a surprise if true;

https://nypost.com/2021/01/07/known-antifa-members-posed-as-pro-trump-to-infiltrate-capitol-riot-sources/

Its going to be fun to read about all the IDs made with facial rec.

I figure about 20% of the folks in the Capitol building were OPFOR. No excuse for the rest of them, of course.

TDS: Trump supporters who are unable to accept reality, such as Trump’s defeat in the 2020 election.🙂

You're assuming they were conservatives.

Yes.  Now all his legal challenges are done, he's going to go as prescribed by law.  It's as if he doesn't understand how dictators are supposed to act.

He never did. He is what he always was, and always will be: a New York real estate guy.

I think after his first 100 days in the White House, he also became a man who would rather be someplace else.

There was that USMA graduate that seemingly wanted to imitate Mikhail Nikolayevich Tukhachevsky.

He surely realized that being head of the executive branch was not as powerful and independent for Rs as for Ds. He covered a lot of ground in bench appointments, regulatory relief, and foreign policy, so from the outside it looks like he focused on areas where he had more leverage. Unfortunately, the situation required effective messaging on big picture issues.

Undoubtedly true, but not this one.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9128637/MAGA-mob-rioter-dressed-combat-gear-carrying-zip-ties-Texas-Air-Force-veteran.html

Retired Lieutenant Colonel is identified as the MAGA rioter carrying zip ties who appeared to exit Nancy Pelosi's vandalized office - as his family say he became obsessed with Trump and believes in taking over the country

  • Retired Lieutenant Colonel Larry Rendall Brock Jr., 53, was among the violent mob of Trump supporters who stormed the US Capitol Wednesday
  • The father-of-three, who now lives in Dallas, was pictured on the Senate floor
  • He wore a combat helmet, body armor and a vinyl tag with the Punisher skull on - a symbol adopted by white supremacists and QAnon believers
  • He carried zip-tie handcuffs and in video appeared to exit Nancy Pelosi's office
  • Brock has admitted to being the man in the videos and photos
  • But he told The New Yorker he thought he was welcome to enter the US Capitol - despite the mob smashing windows, shots being fired and cops pushing back
  • He then said he 'found' the zip ties and picked them up to give to a police officer
  • He said he traveled to DC because 'the President asked for his supporters to be there to attend, and I felt like it was important'
  • Brock's family members and a former Air Force comrade painted a picture of the veteran as a man who has become increasingly radical in recent years
  • Bill Leake, who worked alongside Brock in the Air Force for 10 years, said he had 'gotten extreme' and was following 'the alternative-news-source world'
  • Two family members said he had started making racist comments and that they believe he was influenced by white supremacy

There is another thought provoking article on Bellingcat looking into the posting history of Ashli Babbett. Obama voter to Senate shooting victim.

https://www.bellingcat.com/news/2021/01/08/the-journey-of-ashli-babbitt/

So if the far right want to adopt her as a latterday Horst Wessel, they have something of a problem.

Exactly! When we finally get a strong, determined (and handsome) world-leader, he folds like a wet napkin at the wrong time.

It's ok. We'll have Biden to show us what a strong, determined and handsome world leader is. Just as soon as he wakes from his nap and has his applesauce.

You think that cop died by a self inflicted wound by smashing himself in the head with a fire extinguisher?

48 hour rule. Wait for facts to come to light and be cross checked. Seriosuly. How hard is this?

Cops have been known to get injured due to events entirely outside of what is at the actual emergency. Witness this example from a few years ago in DC.

This officer was pretty badly injured as I recall.

Like as not there will be video and body cams to see exactly what happened and who exactly is to blame.

You'd think that the identification of ordinary people who served honorably in this situation vs the various shit bags that the left has held up as saints would perhaps cause some folks to twig to MAYBE there's a larger issue that needs to be looked at?

On the one hand you have an honorably discharged Air Force Vet.
On the other hand in Kenosha you have 3 felons, child molester, wife beater, and thief.

Who's held up as a victim? Who's held up as a criminal who got just desserts?

What sort of penalties could this retired air force colonel be facing?  I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that storming the US Capitol building is not behavior considered consistent with the code of behavior for US military officers?

What does Kenosha have to do with people storming the Capitol?

What do police shooting citizens in various capacities have to do with Trump instead of local law enforcement issues?

It goes to the larger picture of what we've seen over the past ~12 years of street violence ostensibly due to police involved shootings AND the people involved in those protests and/or riots.

Specifically in Kenosha, we have 3 examples of people shot in the riot (2 killed), all three who were past felons/criminals.  If they'd been shot by police would it have been any different? Given the officers in the Rayshard brooks case are charged with murder, still, I think not. Who gets charged and who is held as a saint has become highly politicized and highly partisan. Yet, I see on the right in this instance a lot of "shit so and so is a veteran" and a lot of conflicting feelings and observations that the actions were illegal. Conversely, on the Brooks case, the left was just upset and kept asking why the cops didn't just let Brooks go (as if drunk driving isn't sufficiently serious).

More so, as to the identity of the people involved in protests, the left was fond of pointing out that they had people of purity in their protests or riots who are to be held up as 'brave and stunning' even if they were doing things that were illegal. They'd stuck school teachers and other fragile people out in front and even have them as shields for antifa in the rear throwing things. And then they'd cry about this or that harmless saint of a person was tear gassed.

Here, in DC we have people of past histories as law abiding and having served honorably. The left was big on the "stunning and brave" now that doesn't matter. Heck we could go further and look at the case with the Native American Army Vet (sorta) who was 'abused' by the catholic school kid. People were frothing at the mouth that a kid would deign to abuse a native American elder veteran. But that same left is rather silent on monuments to military dead being vandalized. But here, they're awful people who's past history doesn't matter at all and they deserved what they got. It's a gross double standard.

Certainly not in a city named for George Washington.
