If only the US would stop defending the zionists, then there's be peace in the Middle East. After Israel was destroyed and the Sunis or Shia vanquished the other.

Your first sentence defines you as a member of the party in good standing.  The second betrays you as an enemy of the state.

The secret is that one is always an enemy of the state if the state desires it.

In the segment of American Middle East politics, all roads lead to Jerusalem.

Exactly.

How does the US leave the middle east, when one is forced to recognise much of what its done in the past 40 years in the middle east has been to safeguard Israel? Im not criticising that, Im just criticising the fantasy that has been repeated ad nauseum here, to 'end the endless wars'.  Unless a Republican party somehow generates an anti Israeli leader, or the US Defense industry is somehow weaned off of Israeli sales, this cannot possibly happen. But still they will chant it.

Instead, everyone puts their brain in neutral, and cheers the guy who waves the tatty red flag and refuses to engage with whether the ideas make sense or not.  Meanwhile I get Stalin memes, because I point out much of Tanknet seems to be thinking just like real life Communists do. Oh the Irony.

And Europe. And the world's economy. Again, I'll point to those ~20 Carriers and Gator Carriers.

What fantasy is that?

For 40 years we were told Israel needs to appease the arabs. Trump put that wisdom aside. Suddenly, the rest of the middle east aligns with Israel. Tell you what makes sense, is the fact that 40+ years of "wisdom" was shown to be wrong with a change by one president that departed from that mode and suddenly Israel has good relations with the Sunni States.

If repeating the same thing over and expecting different results is insanity, what's it mean when you assert that things were working (but not) for 40 years and suddenly one has success with a new way?

Seems like every 10 posts you're trying to find some reason why Trump is the latest thing since the SS and on the 11th post you're making defenses of Communism/Marxism/Socialism.

I don't really see the Trump folks arguing that "yes, We have and like Democratic Fascism, what's it to YOU!?" Conversely you keep pointing out the good socialists.

Kinda obvious you don't understand what the phrase "endless wars" means in the US.

Which is odd because Airstrip One has always been at war with Eurasia, or Eastasia.  I can never keep that straight.

I dont think anyone does to be perfectly honest. Most people here seem to think this has been ongoing since 2001 with the War on Terror. its been actually ongoing presence in the Persian Gulf since 1980 and the Iran-Iraq war, or even earlier than that if you count the standoff between 5th Eskadra and the US 6th Fleet in 1973. Or even the intervention in the 1958 Lebanon crisis, or the Suez Crisis. But who thinks that far back? Certainly no President, who prefers to blame the previous incumbent for their presence, when it really goes back decades.

Always and forever. Our back remain broad, but eventually there will be one extra straw, and then the world will have to take responsibility for itself.

But destabilizing for whom? If the narrative is leave the middle east, and end the endless wars, then who cares?

Obviously the west does care. That is the basic problem.

The problem, with that curved format is that Communisim and Fascism are effectively very close to each other in terms of authoritarianism. That curve needs to be a near circle with Communism and Fascism

The key thing is that you don't shift from Communism to Fascism with a nice waltz through all those moderate modes of government, you just flip a bit or two from internationalist to nationalist and you're changed from one to the other.

Both Communism and Fascism-Nazism are forms of Totalitarianism. Their common characteristic is to put the State way above the human being.

Yep. Authoritarian, generally collectivist, totalitarian. One is internationalist, one is nationalists. Arguably, with China's Belt and Road Initiative and the Han One China Forward program, they're arguably Nationalists now.

Out of curiosity could Trump have handled the Afghanistan pull-out any worse than what is going on now?  Mothers are currently throwing their kids over and sometime into the razor wire around Kabul's airport to try and gat them out.  I am genuinely curious what the anti-Trump narrative is beyond Trump started us on this path by going down to 2,500 soldiers and the current commander in chief couldn't change direction (though apparently he killed Trump's evacuation plans in case things went to hell so it wasn't THAT ironclad. . .) for some reason nobody seems able to articulate.

I wonder if Taiwan is really wishing Trump was still president right now?

Sure. For one when it looks like the Taliban aren't handling their end of the bargain the drawn down stops. Costs are applied to that failure on their part. This is standard negotiation 101. I am pretty sure Trump is used to playing hard ball on construction sites.

Also.

1. Don't pull out of Bagram in the dead of night. Hand over the base ops to the ANA methodically and gradually. Not by just ghosting out at midnight and leaving everything undsecure.
2. Make sure that the ANA and AAF forces have the support they need as the US draws down. Contractors, 3rd party support, integral support.
3. When the Taliban break the agreements stop the draw down and pound the crap out of them.

This MASS troop withdrawal and then realizing, oh hey, we have 10,000 Americans still in country. Whoops? What the hell is that sort of thing?

China is already flying that propaganda balloon at the Taiwanese.

Biden is a Grade A buffoon. Anything better than Trump? Really? WTF.

Commander Salamander makes an excellent point. The USSR backed forces in Afghanistan lasted 38 months with half the time in country. Our mission had a force/client state that was able to survive for less than a month.
