I have concluded that the day this thread drops off the first page of the FFZ while the Biden thread(s) stay will be the official date when BDS-46 displaces TDS-45 as the dominant strain of Current President Derangement Syndrome.😁

Unfortunately, it seems BDS-46 will be a less virulent strain, reducing the fun factor.

Shutting down the Twitter account has reduced the incidence of TDS-45 by a factor, which I guess, goes to show that lockdowns work...

Life is much easier when you silence your critics.

I'm happy to report though that we have a woman as treasury secretary. So everything will be ok when she and her staff are able to review this.

"Justice"

The good news is we now have a baseline for all of our interactions with the FBI.  Falsify documents, lie under oath and we also should receive 400 hours of community service and a 4100 fine right?

Lately I've been reading a historical novel-like manga by the name of Kingdom. I find it very useful to orient myself in the maze of strange names and geography associated with the end of the Warring States period, and the unification of China by the Qin state, more or less at the time Alexander was carving his empire.

One of the great enemies of Qin was a Zhao general by the name of Li Mu. Qin was unable to defeat Li Mu in the battlefield, so they used other means:

Quote

(...)

Nevertheless, Li Mu could still hold out against and compete with the much stronger Qin forces. So while Qin could raid Wei and Han at will, they had a much harder time pillaging in Zhao.

In 233 BC, when Qin forces attacked the cities of Chili (赤麗) and Xuan'an (宣安), Li Mu erected a fortified camp at Feidi (肥地; in present-day Gaocheng District, Hebei) and waited for the Qin general Huan Yi (桓齮) to divide his army and attack one of the divisions. The plan succeeded, and Li Mu defeated the Qin army at Yi'an (宜安; around present-day Shijiazhuang, Hebei). He was rewarded with the title of Marquis of Wu'an (武安君). A year later, he again defeated the Qin army at Fanwu (番吾; in present-day Pingshan, Hebei).[3]

Eliminating Li Mu became a necessity for Qin to conquer Zhao and ultimately to unify China. In 229 BC, in light of Wang Jian's invasion of Zhao, the Qin sent spies to the Zhao court, bribing key courtiers such as Guo Kai (郭開) and Han Cang (韓倉) in order to convince them to persuade the King of Zhao to replace Li Mu and Sima Shang (司馬尚) with Zhao Cong (趙蔥) and Yan Ju (顏聚) as generals by alleging that the former were planning a rebellion. The plan succeeded.

Li Mu was expelled from his position and soon thereafter either executed or forced to commit suicide on the king's orders.[4]

With Li Mu's death, the fall of Zhao became inevitable. In just a few years' time King Dai would fall and the State of Zhao would fade into history.

I find quite possible that there are some students of history among the members of Red China's Xi government.

More incomitance from the Trump Administration.

Trump White House donated 8,700 ventilators to other nations. Officials now don’t know where many of them are, watchdog finds. (msn.com)

The Trump administration spent $200 million to send more than 8,700 ventilators to countries around the world last year, with no clear criteria for determining who should get them and no way to keep track of where many ended up, according to a new report from the Government Accountability Office.

The effort, driven by the Trump White House, was an unusual top-down initiative with little decision-making by experts at the U.S. Agency for International Development, which carried out the administration’s orders. President Donald Trump last year boasted about U.S. success in manufacturing the machines and declared the U.S. “the king of ventilators,” promising donations to foreign countries.

Staff on the White House’s National Security Council communicated to the aid agency “U.S. government decisions regarding ventilator donations, including the recipient countries, quantities, and manufacturers,” the GAO found.

“These ventilators were not in State or AID’s strategic plan,” said David Gootnick, director of international affairs and trade at GAO. “They could not articulate for us the criteria they used for what ventilators went to what countries.”

Second officer from Capitol riot dies by suicide, police chief says

"Other harm from this traumatic day will be widely felt but possibly unacknowledged," the acting chief of the Metropolitan Police Department said.

Jan. 28, 2021, 3:50 PM EST

By Janelle Griffith

A second police officer who defended the U.S. Capitol during the mob attack on Jan. 6 has died by suicide, the acting chief of the Metropolitan Police Department said this week.

Chief Robert J. Contee III told a House committee on Tuesday that Officer Jeffrey Smith, a 12-year-veteran of the Metro Police Department, had killed himself recently. Another officer, Howard Liebengood, who joined the Capitol Police in 2005, died by suicide three days after the attack. Liebengood was 51.

"Other harm from this traumatic day will be widely felt but possibly unacknowledged," Contee said. "Law enforcement training neither anticipates nor prepares for hours of hand-to-hand combat."

Smith's family could not immediately be reached for comment. Liebengood's family declined requests for an interview through their attorney.

Five people, including Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick, died in events related to the attack. The New York Times and The Associated Press have reported that Sicknick was hit in the head by a rioter wielding a fire extinguisher. Contee said in his testimony that 65 of his officers were injured in what he described as a "battle."

"Many more sustained injuries from the assault — scratches, bruises, eyes burning from bear mace — that they did not even bother to report," Contee said.

The Capitol Police union said in a statement Wednesday that nearly 140 D.C. and Capitol police officers were injured, and that one officer would likely lose an eye. Gus Papathanasiou, the chairman of the union, said some officers had not been issued helmets prior to the attack and sustained head injuries.

Brian Sicknick: Officer killed in Capitol riot to lie in honour

30 January 2021

Brian Sicknick, a police officer who died during the pro-Trump siege of the US Capitol on 6 January, will lie in honour at the same location.

Sicknick 42, was injured while "physically engaging with protesters", police said. He died the following day.

He was one of five people to lose their lives in the riot, which led to Donald Trump's second impeachment.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said he would lie in honour in the Capitol.

[...]

A ceremonial arrival will take place on 2 February. The US Capitol Police (USCP) and members of Congress will be invited to attend the viewing over two days.

The details surrounding Sicknick's death are still unclear.

The USCP said he died "due to injuries sustained while on duty". He was responding to the riots at the US Capitol when he was injured, the force said.

Citing two law enforcement officials, the New York Times reported that Sicknick was struck with a fire extinguisher at some point during the breach of Congress. However, reports of an attack have not been confirmed.

Trump snuck out of the WH and planted them.

I think that somewhat unlikely. I personally wouldnt trust him to wire a wall plug, let alone a bomb.  :)

No, the point surely is, this does help the Trump defence campaign. Because clearly there were some people, organized, planning to create violence, wholly independent of Trump and Giuliani's comments on the 6th of January.

OTOH, he did ask them to come,so its not a slam dunk. I daresay it will be pointed out at the impeachment though.

Palm Beach reviewing Trump's residency at Mar-a-Lago
BY SARAH POLUS - 01/29/21 10:00 PM EST

The town of Palm Beach, Fla., confirmed to The Hill on Friday that it's performing a legal review of former President Trump's residency at Mar-a-Lago after suggesting that it might do so in December.

"Our town attorney is reviewing the agreement and the laws surrounding it," Palm Beach Town Manager Kirk Blouin told The Hill.

Trump relocated to his Florida club on the morning of Jan. 20 after leaving office, before President Biden was sworn in.

The former president's decision to make Mar-a-Lago his permanent residence could be a violation of rules set forward in a previous agreement with the town when he decided to convert the private residence into a club in 1993.

Among those conditions were that club members, including Trump, could only spend a maximum of seven consecutive days and no more than three weeks a year at the premises, CNN reports.

Blouin told the Miami Herald last month that the town was unaware of Trump's intent to permanently reside at his Palm Beach club, but that it would "address the matter appropriately" if need be.

A spokesperson for the Trump Organization previously told the Herald that "There is no document or agreement in place that prohibits President Trump from using Mar-a-Lago as his residence."

It's unclear when the review is expected to be completed, however Trump's residency at the club could be an item of discussion at an upcoming town council meeting on Feb. 9, CNN reports.

She is.  That said, unfortunately for Cori Greene was videoing herself at the time and the actual video contradicts Cori's story.  Interestingly, I'm seeing the video on social media but it doesn't seem to show up on the MSM for some reason.  Must be some obscure copyright issue or something. . .

Former President Donald Trump's lies and his insistence that the November election was rigged against him may have turned out to be a bridge too far for the attorneys who were slated to defend him in his upcoming Senate impeachment trial in a little more than a week.

A person familiar with the departures of the five attorneys -- Butch Bowers, Deborah Barbier, Josh Howard, Johnny Gasser and Greg Harris — told CNN that Trump wanted the attorneys to center his defense on the notion that there was mass election fraud in November and that the election was stolen from him, instead of questioning the legality of convicting a president after he's left office. Trump was not receptive to the discussions about how they should proceed, according to CNN's Gloria Borger, Kaitlan Collins, Jeff Zeleny and Ashley Semler.

A week to go to the trial, and he has no lawyers left. I wonder if he will defend himself?

This brings to mind the old adage that of any three members in a radical US organization, one will be an informer for the FBI, one for the ATF, or similar.

Exclusive: Proud Boys leader was ‘prolific’ informer for law enforcement

By Aram Roston

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Enrique Tarrio, the leader of the Proud Boys extremist group, has a past as an informer for federal and local law enforcement, repeatedly working undercover for investigators after he was arrested in 2012, according to a former prosecutor and a transcript of a 2014 federal court proceeding obtained by Reuters.

In the Miami hearing, a federal prosecutor, a Federal Bureau of Investigation agent and Tarrio’s own lawyer described his undercover work and said he had helped authorities prosecute more than a dozen people in various cases involving drugs, gambling and human smuggling.

Tarrio, in an interview with Reuters Tuesday, denied working undercover or cooperating in cases against others. “I don’t know any of this,” he said, when asked about the transcript. “I don’t recall any of this.”

Law-enforcement officials and the court transcript contradict Tarrio’s denial. In a statement to Reuters, the former federal prosecutor in Tarrio’s case, Vanessa Singh Johannes, confirmed that “he cooperated with local and federal law enforcement, to aid in the prosecution of those running other, separate criminal enterprises, ranging from running marijuana grow houses in Miami to operating pharmaceutical fraud schemes.”

Two Members of the Proud Boys Indicted for Conspiracy, Other Charges Related to the Jan. 6 Riots

One defendant facing additional charges of obstructing an official proceeding and assaulting, resisting or impeding officers

WASHINGTON— Two members of the Proud Boys, a nationalist organization, were indicted today in federal court in the District of Columbia for conspiring to obstruct law enforcement, among other charges.

Dominic Pezzola, 43, of Rochester, New York, and William Pepe, 31, of Beacon, New York, were indicted today in federal court in the District of Columbia on charges of conspiracy; civil disorder; unlawfully entering restricted buildings or grounds; and disorderly and disruptive conduct in restricted buildings or grounds. Pezzola was also charged with obstruction of an official proceeding; additional counts of civil disorder and aiding and abetting civil disorder; robbery of personal property of the United States; assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers; destruction of government property; and engaging in physical violence in a restricted buildings or grounds.

[...]

According to the indictment, Pezzola and Pepe engaged in a conspiracy to obstruct, influence, impede, and interfere with law enforcement officers engaged in their official duties in protecting the U.S. Capitol and its grounds on Jan. 6, 2021. It is alleged that Pezzola and Pepe took actions to evade and render ineffective the protective equipment deployed by Capitol Police in active riot control measures, including actions to remove temporary metal barricades erected by the Capitol Police for the purpose of controlling access to the Capitol Grounds, and the stealing and purloining of property belonging to Capitol Police.

It is further alleged that Pezzola confronted a Capitol Police officer attempting to control the crowd and ripped away the officer’s riot shield, while the officer was physically engaging with individuals who had gathered unlawfully in the west plaza of the Capitol. Pezzola can be seen on video that has been widely distributed, using that riot shield to smash a window at the U.S. Capitol.

Somewhere on a cloud in the great beyond, Nixon must be breathing a sigh of relief he wont be remembered so badly anymore. Even Carl Bernstein is saying nice things about him in comparison to Trump. :D
