Harold Jones Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 Sunday will be visiting Denver May 12th to the 19th. No tank stuff on offer but plenty of airplanes to look at, trains to look and ride, the Air Force Acadamy and several mining museums nearby. Also at least some range time at http://www.dragonmans.com/content/shooting_rangebring your own guns or rent on site.
sunday Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 I will not bring guns! Seriously. Here I invite TSA to have a very close look to my luggage. I am kind of interested on going to Pikes Peak. Where else you could find a 10,000ft peak that you could climb by car?
beans4 Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 More like 14,000 ft IIRC. As a flatlander, I was pretty woozy up there.
Fritz Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 Seriously tempted to show up for a quick break (kind of need one), is there something like a plan of activities yet?
sunday Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 Seriously tempted to show up for a quick break (kind of need one), is there something like a plan of activities yet? Not really. Plan is more or less to decide every day, but there are two days planned in Colorado Springs, with visit to AFA, Pikes Peak, the local mineral springs, and a range known by Mike S.
Fritz Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 Everything sounds great. Except I have to have my euro vacation in july and this might be too much. I'll think about it.

Fritz Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 I'm considering being there from sat morning till wed afternoon, do you guys think we can fit Pikes Peak in this timeframe?
Fritz Posted May 11, 2017 Posted May 11, 2017 Just broke my cell phone. Overnighting new screen, hope I mange to repair it tomorrow.
Fritz Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 Success. Still, completely unnecessary stress (and $$...) right before trip.
Fritz Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 Back home to what now feels like oppressively tropical climate. A very fun if fairly short trip. There were mountains and rocks, and there was meat, and mines and stones, and some USAF here and there, and steam trains, and Mike Steele refusing to let us pay for our damn food, and hippies, but also guns, and Archer, and also lack of oxygen. 6 fridge magnets in total should give a good indication on how much stuff we packed into 4.5 days. The Joneses are the nicest people and have my deep gratitude for hosting this mini get together. I would love to visit again but with a bit more research and planning on my end and be able to do some actual hiking.
Fritz Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 Will take me a few days to process my photos, so here's a little something in the meantime.
