urbanoid Posted June 19, 2024 Posted June 19, 2024 One can admit something is trash without making it forbidden. But yeah, most of the k-pop I heard (mostly by accident) was meh, I do like quite a bit of j-pop and j-rock though, probably comes with the territory of being a fucking weeb.

Roman Alymov Posted June 19, 2024 Posted June 19, 2024 Kim and Putin speeches following the talks. No need to discuss the results (time will show). What is interesting - Kim was generally "for all good against all bad" rhetoric, while Putin is (traditionally) factual with particular roads, deals, events etc. Also, Korean translator is providing the Russian translation of Kim's speech almost flawlessly - may be he was given the text in advance and got time to rehearse, while Putin's speech is translated with audible bumps, so may be it was not released in advance.
futon Posted June 20, 2024 Posted June 20, 2024 Unfortunately, Japan doesn't have what it used to have.. a powerful Imperial Japanese Navy that could mop the floor with the Russian navy. Then maybe Putin would think twice before enabling the Fat-Kim regime.

I think Japan could still wipe the floor with Russia’s navy for the most part, though the most modern nuclear submarines might pose a problem. Presumably they would never be asked to do so on their own.

I mean, trash the Russian Navy at their ports, the ports themselves, all under the air superiority of Japanese naval air power. Russian nuclear subs run away to the north pole. The Korean dagger at the heart of Japan again. Only the pacified Japan that the loser everyone wanted can accept such a thing.
futon Posted September 15, 2024 Posted September 15, 2024 Just to fill the gap with something. SEOUL, Aug 30 (Reuters) - The United States separately deployed B-1B bombers for joint drills with South Korea and Japan on Wednesday, as the three allies have stepped up responses to threats from North Korea. A U.S. B-1B flew alongside South Korean FA-50 jets and U.S. Air Force F-16 fighters as part of ongoing Ulchi Freedom Shield exercises, South Korea's defence ministry said. It marked the 10th such flight by an American bomber this year. North Korea routinely denounces the annual military drills as a rehearsal for war. The allies have stressed that the exercises are defensive. Separately, two U.S. Air Force B-1Bs joined joint drills with 12 Japanese fighters, including four F-15 jets, according to Japan's defence ministry. The U.S.-led bomber drills came days after North Korea attempted a satellite launch that ended in failure. The U.S. and South Korea began Ulchi Freedom Shield last week - a joint large-scale military exercise designed to enhance their response to Pyongyang's nuclear and missile threats, with the second part kicking off on Monday. ... https://www.reuters.com/world/us-b-1b-bomber-deployed-joint-military-drills-with-south-korea-2023-08-30/
futon Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 Up goes another, a big one. North Korea fired a suspected intercontinental ballistic missile toward the sea east of the Korean Peninsula at approximately 7:10 a.m. Thursday, according to South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff. The missile flew approximately 86 minutes, the longest time of any North Korean missile to date, traveling about 1,000 kilometers before falling into the sea, according to the Japanese Ministry of Defense. The altitude of the missile was estimated to be at least 7,000 kilometers, suggesting that it could be a new type of ICBM. Col. Lee Sung-jun, spokesperson for the South Korean JCS, told a briefing that North Korea conducted Thursday's test to see if the missile could fly “farther and higher” than previous missiles. ... https://m.koreaherald.com/view.php?ud=20241031050503

futon Posted November 1, 2024 Posted November 1, 2024 I guess the group photo came after the launch. If so, structurally at minimum, still intact.

Two things i have noted about TEL's nose cone: 1) It is not ejected/dropped, like on Sovirt/Russian TELs, but is lowered (so in theory it is possible to lock it back if launch canseled) 2) Nose cone is obviously designed to accommodate longer missile then one launched.

futon Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 The airforces of three close enough for a photo hasn't really happened in the past, even throughout all of 2017. For this kind of practice, typically, JASDF flew together with US near Kyushu, US continues onwards alone, then mets with ROKAF as approaching the Korean Peninsula. SEOUL, South Korea -- The United States flew a long-range bomber in a trilateral drill with South Korea and Japan on Sunday in response to North Korea’s recent test-firing of a new intercontinental ballistic missile designed to strike the U.S. mainland, South Korea’s military said. North Korea on Thursday tested the newly developed Hwasong-19 ICBM, which flew higher and stayed in the air longer than any other missile it has fired. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un called it “an appropriate military action” to cope with external security threats posed by its rivals. On Sunday, the U.S. flew the B-1B bomber to train with South Korean and Japanese fighter jets near the Korean Peninsula, demonstrating the three countries’ firm resolve and readiness to respond to North Korea’s advancing nuclear and missile programs, South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement. The trilateral aerial training was the second by South Korea, the U.S. and Japan this year, the statement said. ... https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/us-flies-long-range-bomber-drill-south-korea-115435622 The trilaterial was in airspace northwest of Kyushu. futon Posted November 5, 2024 Posted November 5, 2024 DPRK's response to the trilateral. North Korea on Tuesday fired short-range ballistic missiles into the sea east of the Korean Peninsula just before the US presidential election. South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a brief announcement the missiles were launched at around 7:30 a.m. from a province south of the North Korean capital Pyongyang toward the sea. South Korean and US military and intelligence officials are analyzing details of the launch, including their type and range. Kim Yo-jong, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, on Tuesday slammed the US flying its B-1B bombers in a trilateral air drill with South Korean and Japan near the Korean Peninsula as “acts of utmost hostility.” She said the trilateral air drill -- the second such training be held by South Korea, US and Japan this year -- “serve as a justification” for expanding the country’s nuclear program. ... https://m.koreaherald.com/view.php?ud=20241105050049
