Today in central Rostov-on-Don, hear school building, early in the morning unknown man left flashlight on the sidewalk. Street cleaner took it and pressed button - as result he lost right lap and finger on left hand, plus other injuries

Found to be personal revenge case directed against street cleaner - by man familiar with him and in conflict with him.

Personal revenge did like this? Very... Indiscriminate. Anyone could have picked that up.

So the guy did not act alone (TBH the bomb looked too good for that) - good thing they found the bomb makers,

The police shooting - yeah, police patrols are awfully vulnerable at night in remote area. Though... Why try to get their weapons? It would make sense to get uniforms, but for weapons... Were they planning to try to impersonate police for some attack?

A vehicle has driven into people on a street in central Stockholm, said Swedish police.

A number of people are reported to be injured, they said.

The incident took place on Drottninggatan (Queen Street), one of the city's major pedestrian streets, just before 15:00 local time (14:00 GMT).

Witnesses told local media they have seen people on the ground.

It was just before three, local time, when a truck drove down the pedestrian street Drottninggatan, before crashing in to the departement store Åhlens. The truck, from a brewery, was hijacked earlier. Police have confirmed that at least three people have been killed and many more are hurt. A large part of the centre has been cordoned of by the police.

There are also conflicting reports that shots have been fired, both at Åhlens and at Hötorget (Hay Market), a few hundred meters from Åhlens.

Witnesses have told how police with guns drawn stormed in to shops shouting at shoppers to drop everything and run.

_ People are lying mown down along the street. CPR is given, garbage bags are used to cover lifeless bodies, a witness told DN.

Further down Drottninggatan towards the Royal Palace, there were several more lying hurt and being given CPR.

The police is treating the incident as a terror attack. The main government offices are in lockdown as is the Riksdag, the Swedish parliament.

The Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven said that everythng pointed to an act of terrorism.

The Central station, Stockholms main train station, was evacuated at 16:30, 90 minutes after the incident began. The Stockholm underground and all trains have been stopped.

Drottninggatan is right in the centre of the downtown shopping area. It was also the scene of a previous attack in 2010 when a suicide bomber detonated his bomb there. The bomb exploded early and only the terrorist was killed in that incident.

At least 21 dead in Egyptian church bombing

A bomb exploded in a church north of Cairo that was packed with Palm Sunday worshippers, killing at least 21 people and wounding 38 others, officials said.
The attack in the Nile Delta town of Tanta was the latest in a series of assaults on Egypt's Christian minority, which makes up around 10 percent of the population and has been repeatedly targeted by Islamic extremists. It comes just weeks before Pope Francis is due to visit Egypt.
CBC TV showed footage from inside the church, where a large number of people gathered around what appeared to be lifeless, bloody bodies covered with papers. Magdi Awad, the head of the provincial ambulance service, confirmed the toll.
No one immediately claimed the attack, which comes a week before Easter.
A local Islamic State affiliate claimed a suicide bombing at a church in Cairo in December that killed around 30 people, mostly women, as well as a string of killings in the restive Sinai Peninsula that caused hundreds of Christians to flee to safer areas of the country.
A militant group called Liwa al-Thawra claimed responsibility for an April 1 bomb attack targeting a police training center in Tanta, which wounded 16 people. The group, believed to be linked to the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood, has mainly targeted security forces and distanced itself from attacks on Christians.
Egypt has struggled to combat a wave of Islamic militancy since the 2013 military overthrow of an elected Islamist president.

Last week in Paris a 27 year old knifed a 66 year old. Police haven determined a motive yet. He is Muslim, was shouting „Allahu Akbar!", admitted the Quran ordered him to kill infidels, climbed over his balcony on hers, one floor up. Sarah Lucy Halimi was an orthodox Jew and had reported him for antisemitic stalking.

Well, probably just a dispute among neighbors that got out of hand.

Egypt declares state of emergency after Palm Sunday church bombings

t least 27 people died in a bomb blast inside a church in the northern city of Tanta, and 78 people were injured, according to Egypt's state-run news agency Al-Ahram.

In Alexandria, 18 civilians and four police officers were killed when a suicide bomber blew himself up outside a Coptic church, Al-Ahram said.
ISIS, which claimed responsibility, warned of more attacks in a statement. "The Crusaders and their apostate followers must be aware that the bill between us and them is very large, and they will be paying it like a river of blood from their sons, if God is willing," the group said in Arabic.
After the bombings, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi declared a period of mourning. The government formed a council to counter terror and extremism and announced a three-month state of emergency.
"The attack will not undermine the resolve and true will of the Egyptian people to counter the forces of evil," the President said in a statement.
In a statement issued on the Telegram messaging platform and circulated by several ISIS supporters, the militant group identified the bombers as Egyptian nationals. Egyptian authorities have not confirmed the bombers' nationalities.

Alleged organizer of StPete subway attack arrested in Moscow suburb (the same region where Kubinka is, by the way). Central Asian man (exact ethnicity not disclosed) , born 1990- he was personally preparing suicide bomber

Glad he's been caught. These terrorist recruiters are often cowards at heart, so its not surprising he was taken alive. I hope he enjoys his lifetime stay in Supermaximum security.

Supermax? Haha...you are funny. His relatives are already writing denunciations and repudiations of him.

The reason for putting terror recruiters in Supermax is not to keep them from escaping, though that is part of it. The main reason is to keep them from trying to turn other inmates and using them to attack staff or start riots. Keeping Salafist terror masters isolated is essential if you want to avoid serious internal problems in your prisons.

You are perceiving this through an American lens. This is Russia.

Now suspect known to be of Kirgiz origin, but Kirgizstan foreign office explained he quit Kirgiz citizenship 4 years ago (probably to Rus one) and they are not going to provide him consular support common for citizens. Kirgizstan parliament security committee and special services are running own investigation on (former) Kirgiz nationals involved in terrorist activity https://www.bfm.ru/news/352247

Perp 39 years old French national, "on counter error radar". Detailed identity no released yet, but Daesh claimed responsibility already.

On a side note like the way French make a distinction between the policeman (tué = killed) and the perp (abattu... abated).

Also... What's with all the middle aged terrorists recently?

I am starting to hate this thread. It will never end.

I think it will, when the wretched populations now under theocratic dictatorships replace those governments with something that does not make being dead seem like a rational alternative to living. But I am in my mid-sixties and do not expect to see it.

abattu = slaughtered. A slaughterhouse is an abattoir in perfectly correct English. Yes, I approve of this writer's usage.
