lucklucky Posted March 17, 2024 Posted March 17, 2024 Portuguese leader of one major supermarket chains says in veiled state interview that UE is attacking Europe food production and security. He says that oranges main producing nation Span will be forced to destroy its production and that it will be moved to Egypt. He questions with what water, working conditions, forced work by children and that UE rules forcing supermarket companies to control it is impossible due to that country laws. He also makes parallels with EU energy coming from Russia and US paying for Euro defence, and then in next decade European food autonomy will be lost too. Fortunately that car was not a full EV. Nice enough car, otherwise.

Seems like every two months or so he puts up a FB post with a pic of his Tesla dashboard, showing 15 miles of remaining range when he's about 10 miles from home. Imagine being a lower-level droid in some corporation and having an EV rental car. "I missed the meeting and lost the contract because I couldn't find an available charging station at the hotel" is probably not a great defense.

Sure, that would suck, but it is entirely possible that the meeting will be held in a place where the local government has decided to ban the presence of fossil fuelled vehicles. And further, that as a result of this, the number of nearby gas stations available has been shrinking as well (partly due to fewer customers and partly due to zealous local pols deciding that removing (fossil) fuelling options is a great way to push their preferred outcome), so you may be out of luck if you are in a gas powered car as well. Relying on public transport would in any case be the preferred option if you ask the greenies, and happily that has never had any negative impact on your ability to show up on time. /sarc Bottom line, being a lower level droid will continue to suck, though the reasons may vary somewhat. At the moment, plug-in hybrids are quite attractive. And it seems the market has noticed that. -- Soren
