Famine follows political narcissism.

Sri Lanka has abandoned its attempt to become the world's first entirely organic farming nation amid spiralling food prices and weeks of protest.

Colombo in May banned imports of chemical fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides in a shock move hailed by environmentalists.

The government said it would make farming in the South Asian nation more sustainable and environmentally friendly.

Speaking at the COP 26 climate summit in Glasgow this month, president Gotabaya Rajapaksa defended the policy, saying only "entrenched lobbies" were against a move that would create "opportunities for investment in organic agriculture."

But Colombo reversed course amid furious protest from farmers who had been forced to abandon vast tracts of fertile soil.

More than two dozen cargo vessels are stuck in Russia’s Arctic ice, waiting for ice-breakers to come to their rescue, after an inaccurate forecast from the country’s Met Office.

Maritime traffic in the Northern Sea Route has been on the rise in recent years as rapidly warming winters reduce ice cover, and Russia invests in its Arctic ports in preparation for a further boom.

But this year several segments of the Northern Sea Route froze up about a fortnight earlier than usual, catching many ships unawares.

More ice is yet more proof of man-made climate change.  Same as less ice. Or about the same amount of ice.

Ice is white, so you can't get any more racist than that.

The study, published Wednesday in the journal Science Advances, found that the expansion of warm Atlantic Ocean water flowing into the Arctic, a phenomenon known as "Atlantification," has caused Arctic water temperature in the region studied to increase by around 2 degrees Celsius since 1900.
Francesco Muschitiello, an author on the study and assistant professor of geography at the University of Cambridge, said the findings were worrisome because the early warming suggests there might be a flaw in the models scientists use to predict how the climate will change.

"The Arctic Ocean has been warming up for much longer than we previously thought," Muschitiello told CNN. "And this is something that's a bit unsettling for many reasons, especially because the climate models that we use to cast projections of future climate change do not really simulate these type of changes."

CNN appear to be shifting gears, a news like this would never appear if not vetted at highest level there and in cultural space of the management and journalists.

But what does it mean??! The Arctic has been warming for longer than the 'Anthro/Genic' theory's been around or something?

I recall an Attenborough docco, where the region is SO cold it freezes the water to form the ice and that 'squeezes' the salt out of the water (which sinks to the bottom to form incredibly salty brine 'pools' ), and since we can't have a 'vacuum' in nature, warmer water from the gulf stream flows in to replace it. As a result, the Ocean is substantially warmer than the air temps.

Don't be silly.

Of course the answer is that anthropogenic climate change is even worse.

So izzat what the story purports to say?

That's what CNN makes of it, and of course the researchers say that "this could be big" and "more reasearch is needed". 🙄

Conclusions and Recommendations

The empirical data clearly show support for the ACC theory [after data were massaged with a sledgehammer to fit the narrative]. Further research is needed [I have big whopping mortgage payments].

Thank God for Russia.

Russia vetoes UN security council resolution linking climate crisis to international peace

(...)

Russian ambassador Vassily Nebenzia complained that Monday’s proposed resolution would turn “a scientific and economic issue into a politicized question”, divert the council’s attention from what he called “genuine” sources of conflict in various places and give the council a pretext to intervene in virtually any country on the planet.

“This approach would be a ticking time bomb,” he said.
