Does not smell right. Too few dead. Maybe 1 bad guy.

Just because you were born here and are a citizen doesn't mean you can't be IS. Lot's of young man with German citizenship went to Syria to fight for the IS. Some of the most notorious Islamic hate preachers are ethnic German converts.

The guy hurling insults at the terrorist obviously saw him well enough to use the "appropriate" insults.

PS: The reply of the terrorist came in pretty good German. Not a recent arrival but an example of not so successful integration despite having been raised here?

Number of dead reported to be up to eight nine, possibly including one/the perpetrator.

A press conference with the Bavarian interior minister is to commence shortly.

Joachim Herrmann. CSU of course, which rules Bavaria alone. As a prerequesite for that job in this party, he's somewhat of a law-and-order hardliner.

More pictures from earlier today.

Thanks.

From Telegraph

9:04PM
Muslim eyewitness heard "Allahu Akbar"

A Muslim woman, named by CNN as Lauretta, told the channel she heard the gunmen shout "Allahu Akbar" as they shot children.

I know this because I am a Muslim.

I saw the shooting of children, who were sitting down to eat. They could not run.

Muslim Lauretta? a bit strange name.

Video shows a gunman ranting against foreigners and Turks

On social media, a video showed a gunman yelling "------- foreigners" and against Turks.

Could be PKK?

What kind of person(political etc.) is the Interior Bavarian minister?

Joachim Herrmann, CSU (Christian-Social Union, bavarian, conservative)

Law and order type. Likes to blame killer video games, let the police program trojans, friend of preemptive storage of meta data, IMSI catching, supports breaking into terrorism suspects' homes to place spy software on their computers etc., at the same time angry at the NSA, hard line in asylum/refugee politics,

so your average bavarian state minister of the interiour ;)

Police are treating the suspected dead perpetrator with caution and will check his backpack with a robot before approaching. I still suspect the reports of multiple shooters will turn out to be false, and if this indeed the guy, the rest of the search will become a wild goose chase; except that eight dead and a reported ca. 20 injured are a little much for one shooter with a handgun.

Anyway, packing it in for the night. Let me point out that Munich police is tweeting about the situation in five languages, including English.

That video of the guy in the roof is it after or before the killing? I mean it is weird a guy that starts to shots to pavement.

No, I think the shooter was taking pot shots at the brazen insulter with the camera phone.

In Virginia Tech, we had 32 folks killed and just as many wounded with an individual wielding two handguns. In Texas nearly two decades back, a gunman killed about 24 folks inside a restaurant with just two handguns. It's very much possible to do a tremendous amount of damage with just a handgun.

If the local Germans are anything like those of Cologne then they will sanitize the news and conceal the truth.

Look....miceguns! For chrissakes, these are the heavies and one....one AUG amongst the mousegun parade. Bmw et al can cough up the cash for some real guns.

one German official has been quoted as saying it is not "Islamic related terrorism". I am curious to understand how he could be so certain

Well, that's about 100% confirmation it is right there.

They are most definitely not. Bavaria and Texas have often been compared.

Bavaria has been ruled post war either by single party majority CSU (conservative) or a few times with a minor coalition partner. Very different from Northrhine-Westphalia which mostly has been ruled by either SPD or a coalition with them.

The speaker of the Munich police handles the press conferences and the sometimes really dumb questions very professionally. Despite the chaotic situation and unclear information.

a press conference with the stateminister of the interiour, police president and other big wigs is scheduled at two o'clock local time.

The speaker of Munich Police has said that they don't know.

But let's see what the press conference brings.

I'm so numb now, when I woke up and was greeted with news of this incident, I just grunted and ate breakfast without any other reaction to the news.

Come come now.

Likely just a slight case of Muslims being Muslims. Different cultures, different customs you know. Mustn't be too judgemental. Let's just share some uplifting hashtags, pile up some teddy bears, and we can all get back to waiting for our next regularly scheduled mass slaughter. Oh, and hand in your personal firearms while we're at it- wouldn't want anyone to get hurt by them.
