Sorry to hear that. Was the VMMV tour supposed to start at 1400, 1500, or run from the former to the latter?

Mark's words were 2 or 3. So I think a few hours past then. He's apparently rather busy, so he's going to see if any of the volunteers are able to herd the Tank Net Cats around. It's not a touring museum as currently the stable of vehicles is all stored under sheds.

We checked out Reston town center at noon. It is a "generic mid-sized US city center" movie set with a load of restaurants (we had tapas at a Spanish one), fashion and electronics stores. There's also a CVS which satisfies most daily needs; I brought back two-and-a-half gallons of liquids.

Neither of us has a US cell number, but I had no problems texting everybody else last year.

So, what is the plan for this evening? Are we looking for some dining options? There are a number of good places at Reston Town Center (but you saw that at lunch). I know of some more "local fare" in the area, and can provide transportation to/from same. What is the mood/hankering? There's the aforementioned Mall, complete with food court and some more traditional chain restaurants in/around the mall. There is a good pedestrian zone local non-chain market place in Leesburg, there is a very good BBQ place in Ashburn, there is the (very popular around here for some reason) Hot Bar and Grocery at Wegmans, etc. etc. etc. I'm not well versed on the bar scene in the area, but there certainly are few (and I even know the bartender at one of them).

Sunday is currently undertaking a single field trip but will be back ca. 1800. I'm about to pack it in at the hotel pool. We're game for any dinner venue. Provided you can make it here in time, we could meet in the hotel lobby ca. 1900, or else later, and go to a place of your recommendation.

I will plan to meet you in the lobby ca 1900. For now, I'm going to go get my PT on so that I can afford a calorie budget for this evening. I'll touch base again before I head out the door to give a refined estimate of my arrival.

As it turns out, Uber was the solution.

Had dinner and cursory sightseeing tour with CT96. Harold is now flying in tonight already; will still see him in the morning I guess. Current plan is to leave for the USMC Museum ca. 1100. Will probably meet Fritz there.

I plan on leaving around 7am so if you want to leave around 11 I can meet you at the hotel.

I wanted to leave earlier but I got beat up changing my front brakes (I mean all of it - calipers, rotors, bleeding etc) this evening so I'll need my sleep. But tactical transport is mission capable, which was the whole point.

the rabble at the USMC Museum on Friday:

The great unveiling:

It goes deep:

Left unattended for a moment...

Everybody got some hands on

but wait... there's more...

and more...

and it's not just one deep either.

And of course some gratuitous tanks:

I can't post them all...
