I think the establishment of Lachin border checkpoint solved the issue of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity. Secession is a pipe dream now, in 5/10 years and forever.

OKAY. I guess you are Azerbaijani. I also think that the Republic of Artsakh will disappear relatively soon, but that is not the end of the story, there will continue to be an unfriendly population which an ugly history of ethnic hatred that can lead to revenge. How do you imagine the reintegration will be, with a stick and carrots? more sticks than carrots? promoting the integration of the local population to azerbaijan or happy if they emigrate to a neighboring country....

I know nobody has a crystal ball, but how is the feeling of the average Azerbaijani citizen on this issue?

“the Azerbaijani MoD has not released any Information regarding Casualties, however they are expected to be equal to if not higher than Armenian Losses.”

Unlike what this charlatan claims, Azerbaijan MOD reported about 3 wounded soldiers.

Quote

On the Feast of the Beheading of Saint John the Baptist, having a few days ago celebrated the Feast of the Apostle Saint Bartholomew (August 24th) who, together with Saint Jude Thaddeus, brought Christ to Armenia in the First Christian Century, my mind turns to His Holiness Pope Benedict XV and his tireless efforts to come to the aid of the Armenian people while the horror of genocide was unleashed upon them at the beginning of the First World War. In his discourse on the occasion of the Consistory for the Creation of Cardinals of the Holy Roman Church, on December 6, 1915, he reflected upon the most turbulent state of the world at the time. Making special reference to the Armenian people, he declared: “The most pitiable Armenian people are brought near to annihilation” [“miserrima Armeniorum gens prope ad interitum adducitur”] (Acta Apostolicae Sedis VII, p. 510).

Now, they are being assaulted again. Since December of 2022, the 120,000 Armenians of Nagorno Karabakh (or Artsakh, as they call their ancient homeland) have been under siege. They have no more gas for energy. They have no public or private means of transportation. Their farmers are assailed at gunpoint and cannot harvest their crops. They are running dangerously low on food.

Courts have denounced the siege. Governments have denounced the siege. But, as of now, no one has come to the side of the victims of this gravest of injustices to alleviate their hunger and thirst.

Note how collapse of post-USSR Armenia (that was winning side in civil war against Azerbaijan) followed liberal crowds in Erevan turn to hardline pro-Western political forces. Now Russia is openly "washing hands", saying more Armenians live in Russia than in Armenia itself. Politically, good relations with AZ is far more profitable to Russia then attempts to save Armenians against the will of their own rulling elite.

Barak-8 ER (extended range variant with 150 km max range) launcher was for the first time shown at 2018 military parade in Baku. At the time, the Barak-8 ER missile was still in development.

We can see that it has entered into service of Azerbaijani armed forces. Azerbaijan now operates both the LR (original 75 km range variant) and latest ER variants.

“During the fire exercises, combat crews successfully fulfilled the tasks on bringing the “Ildirim 8-ER” anti-aircraft missile system to the starting position and preparing it for combat use, as well as detecting and destroying a ballistic missile launched by an imaginary enemy.”

“İldırım”, meaning “lightning”, is a direct translation of Hebrew “Barak”.

Still, Armenia was the first Christian country ever. So I understand the good Cardinal.

Not country (as current borders of Armenia got very little to do with big historic Armenia) - but nation (yes, i know it was long before nations were invented, but how to name it?)

Most of Armenians living in my home town of Rostov-on-Don came not from where Armenia now is, but from Crimea and what is now Turkey.

Well, my favorite local pizza place is operated by a Frenchman married to an Armenian lady, will ask her where did she came from, but I guess she is from Armenia proper, as she is familiar with Aram Khachaturian...

Note Aram Khachaturian was born not in Armenia, but in what is now Georgia, near Tbilisi. By the way, back to "first Christian country ever" - "Khachaturian" is literally "Son of Khachatur", and "Khachatur" is male name with meaning something like "Given by Holy Cross", wery wide spread in Armenia (to the extent that short form of it- Khachik - became analogue of "Armenian" as "Ivan" for "Russian")

"Khach" is "cross", making "Khachcar" as "Cross-stone" for famous Armenian monuments

Some (not clear how many) ancient khachcars were destroyed or removed by Azeri as part of the efforts to erase traces of Armenians on AZ territory.

Azerbaijan has announced the start of a military operation in Artsakh.

"In order to restore the constitutional order of Azerbaijan, local anti-terrorist measures have been launched in Karabakh," the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said.

Baku has closed the airspace for Armenian aircraft.

The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry has accused the Armenians of using radio interference against the GPS of passenger aircraft of airlines flying through the airspace of Azerbaijan.

"The alleged failure in the satellite navigation system occurred on board the passenger plane E-190 of Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC, en route on the Tbilisi - Baku flight." ( https://t.me/sashakots/42258 )
