shep854
A bit of Marine history:http://www.marinecorpstimes.com/story/military/2015/11/10/marine-sergeant-major-behind-oorah-battle-cry/75525434/The Marine sergeant major behind the 'oorah' battle cry'That highly abbreviated biography of the eighth sergeant major of the Marine Corps would get the attention of any Marine. But official service anecdotes credit him with popularizing "oorah" in the Marine lexicon — and that alone has cemented him into leatherneck lore.' Kenneth P. Katz
Happy birthday to a unique institution. If management consultants were engaged to design the US military in 2015, there would be no place for the USMC, an obviously redundant organization. Fortunately, the management consultants have not been brought in, and the USMC retains its place not only because of its intrinsic value but because it provides a certain spirit and approach that inspires all the other services to do better. When I worked on the V-22 after leaving the USAF, I enjoyed ribbing my USMC colleagues/customers in the best spirit of juvenile interservice rivalry, but always admired them.
