Brian Kennedy Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 So anyone else got asaulted by an asaultron yet? I wandered into a ruin I was not supposed to around level 15 and had a close ecounter with one, it was a very short one too. Came across a Legendary Assaultron... long story short, it took me and several guys in power armor to bring it down (and most of those guys got whacked).
Mistral Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 Fusion cores can not be recharged, do not know what difficulty you are playing but at highest you find a lot in random containers (initially my problem was ammo, but now its a lot better). I found 5 in a single box several times. I also used cage armor for a long time until I found legendary pieces to have a very nice set, having each piece of armor giving you a bonus in primary stats is very nice.
Mistral Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 A shotgun that fires two shots is so much fun. Funnily enough my best close quarter firearm is a pipe auto pistol in .38 that does double damage to full health enemies. Upgraded it so that its very steady in auto-fire and with a large drum and it mows down enemies in a single burst.
Simon Tan Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 Drum Fed Suppressed 2 shot combat shotgun. 236 damage base. Chews up deathclaw in 5 rounds.
Brian Kennedy Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 My verdict so far -- combat is amazing, main plot line is sort of dumb, side quests are great, crafting is awesome but tough to figure out. My only serious complaint is that it forces you to be combat-oriented, when the Big Rule of Fallout is that you should be able to win by playing a science nerd or a charismatic wimp or whatever.
Brasidas Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 Got a 10mm with a 20% chance of crippling legs. A few shots, and I then walk behind the foe and chop him up with my flambestick. Always short on 10mm ammo, but nothing is that challenging anymore. Ever seen a one legged Assaultron chase after you? Hilarity.
Mr King Posted November 24, 2015 Author Posted November 24, 2015 Having too much fun in this game, but the heart to heart talks between you and your companions is a little much for my taste. The modding community is off to a good start. I think it was a day before the first nude female mod was out. Though I still have some reservations as Bethesda has not released the modding kit, and most importantly their Bethesda.net launcher. Meanwhile I am having fun goofing with the settlers. I dubbed him Klinger.
Harold Jones Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 Noob-question, but here goes: the perk Magazines, once I have "read" them, do I need to keep them? I run the game solo, have not even picked up the dog. Level 17 so far.So I will probably be out by midsummer. As far as I can tell no, but since they weigh nothing I keep them anyway. My plan is to display them in my house once I get around to decorating it.
Mr King Posted November 25, 2015 Author Posted November 25, 2015 (edited) Stefan you can find these comic book racks in some settlements already, and you can also craft them. Edited November 26, 2015 by Mr King
Mr King Posted November 26, 2015 Author Posted November 26, 2015 I saw some really cool AI behavior tonight. While on a quest with a quest companion, we were sneaking around a dungeon , engaging mobs with silenced weapons, and I happened to look behind us, and found an enemy NPC sneaking up on us. He was practically on top of us by the time I turned around and caught him. I have never seen that kind of behavior out of Bethesda AI before. Usually they just go ape, and start shooting you from halfway across the map. Also while out wandering in the wasteland I had a Brotherhood vertibird circling overhead for a short while. I came across a super mutant encampment with the Brotherhood vertibird still in the area. I started engaging super mutants from long range with a silenced sniper rifle. While this was taking place, the Brotherhood lands down by the encampment. I watch as they are grouped around the vertibird still and a mutant suicider comes running out to go dirka dirka with his nuke. I just let nature take its course. Blew the hell out of the vertibird, and took out all of the Brotherhood. I got a nice complete set of Brotherhood II T-60B power armor when I moved in to pick the bodies clean.
Mr King Posted November 28, 2015 Author Posted November 28, 2015 I decided I wanted to roll a new character as a sniper, and had a sudden inspiration to make Mike from Breaking Bad (Johnathan Banks). Not spot on, but it was fun making him.
Daan Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Does anyone of you use big guns more than occasionally? Currently at level 18, but I hardly find ammo for things like miniguns, flamers or rocket launchers. It does not seem like a viable weapon class so far.
Simon Tan Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 They all suck. My .308 suppressed combat rifle is ridiculous.
Mr King Posted December 7, 2015 Author Posted December 7, 2015 My current character is a stealthy, silenced pistol toting, VATS killing machine. I also have a nice silenced legendary rifle and stealthed combat knife to compliment my pistol. I am playing on Ultra Hard, and may up it to Survival.
Harold Jones Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Occasionally I run into situations that are just too much work to beat with my Advanced Combat Rifle and Explosive Shotgun combination so I pop back to Sanctuary and grab my tricked out missile launcher or climb into armor and grab the minigun, but for the most part I don't use the big guns much.
Daan Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 Now at level 21 still running around in my improved Vault suit (with overlying armour of course). Did any of you find an alternative and upgradable piece of clothing?
Brian Kennedy Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Has anybody ever found a use for the minigun? The slow warmup time, low damage per shot/burst and massive ammo consumption seem to render it pretty useless.
Mr King Posted December 11, 2015 Author Posted December 11, 2015 I have not touched heavy weapons since the first quest where you get the power armor and mini gun. Everything is killed with silenced pistol, sniper rifle, or grenades. Right now my sneak attacks with ranged weapons do 5.3X damage Bethesda really has gotten the psychology of slot machines down for VATS builds. Nothing like killing some mob, and getting the reward of ding ding ding of all the different perks that just randomly went off.
Mr King Posted December 12, 2015 Author Posted December 12, 2015 I love all the memes and media that pops up around these games as much as the games themselves. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZ91jo7LcDI
Brasidas Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 Man, love it when a Legendary Deathclaw jumps out and I pop him with my pistol until he is trying to crawl away from me because both legs are crippled. I have to agree, Bethesda got the stealth scout/sniper act down pretty good on this one. I use a single piece of Synth Chameleon armor and primarily Shadowed Ultra-light combat armor even at level 41,
Mr King Posted December 12, 2015 Author Posted December 12, 2015 The Chameleon armor is very nice to have. I also only use one piece at a time. not sure if the buff stacks with additional pieces. Only thing I dislike about it is not being able to use your pipboy when you're sneaking which I think is a bug. I have the pipboy app pulled up on my phone so if I need to, I can hit TAB to pause then interact with the app on my phone. The Idiot Savant perk is a great perk. I wish I had realized this sooner and took it earlier in my build. The feeling you get when you turn in a quest and it randomly hits and you get 5x experience for the quest.
Harold Jones Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 (edited) I upgraded my combat rifle to .308 mostly because I had 3k or so .308 rounds and was down to only 200 or so .45 rounds left. Then I decided to stop by a trader and buy some supplies. During the transaction I sold off 3k of .38 rounds to cover the cost. About 20 mins and a couple quick saves later I decided to use the CR and found out I only had 6 rounds for it. I went to reload an older save but the one closest to the sale would have cost me a couple of fairly involved mission completions. On the upside I'm learning just how useful my upgraded 10mm pistol can be. Edited December 12, 2015 by Harold Jones
Mr King Posted December 13, 2015 Author Posted December 13, 2015 Somethings I dislike about this Fallout, is it is just not as dark as the FO3 and New Vegas. It feels like they made it more kid friendly. There is plenty of depressing things if you read the computer terminals and holotapes, plus just explore in general. But is just missing that undercurrent of grimy darkness of a post apocalyptic hell hole. I have put in a 180 hours so far and have not came across one prostitute. In FO3, a prostitute is one of the first people you have a chance of coming across. If you get into the terminals of Megaton in FO3 you find the other residents suspect another resident of sexually abusing the child NPC he lives with. That is just dark, and nothing I have seen in FO4 even comes close to that tone. A lot of people have complained there is no real way to be evil, but I think the problem with the game is bigger than just not being able to be evil. I also really hate my character having a spoken voice. I can't wait till that is modded out.
bojan Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 As usual with Bethesda it is miles wide and inch deep. It might be fun, but Fallout Tactics was also fun for a while while fully missing Fallout feel... Hence I put it on hold until something like New Vegas appears. If I want to go around, shoot people and mod guns in post-apo weirdness I can always play Stalker again...
Mr King Posted December 13, 2015 Author Posted December 13, 2015 Going to give this mod a test. It is a neat idea. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/4515/?tab=2&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Ffallout4%2Fajax%2Fmodfiles%2F%3Fid%3D4515&pUp=1
