Mistral Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 So anyone else got asaulted by an asaultron yet? I wandered into a ruin I was not supposed to around level 15 and had a close ecounter with one, it was a very short one too.
Stefan Fredriksson Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 So, can fusion cores or Stealth boys be reused?I am still running around in the cage armor, since I want to save core for power armor. Which is best armor, except for power?
Brian Kennedy Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 So anyone else got asaulted by an asaultron yet? I wandered into a ruin I was not supposed to around level 15 and had a close ecounter with one, it was a very short one too. Came across a Legendary Assaultron... long story short, it took me and several guys in power armor to bring it down (and most of those guys got whacked).
Mistral Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 Fusion cores can not be recharged, do not know what difficulty you are playing but at highest you find a lot in random containers (initially my problem was ammo, but now its a lot better). I found 5 in a single box several times. I also used cage armor for a long time until I found legendary pieces to have a very nice set, having each piece of armor giving you a bonus in primary stats is very nice.
Mistral Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 A shotgun that fires two shots is so much fun. Funnily enough my best close quarter firearm is a pipe auto pistol in .38 that does double damage to full health enemies. Upgraded it so that its very steady in auto-fire and with a large drum and it mows down enemies in a single burst.
Simon Tan Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 Drum Fed Suppressed 2 shot combat shotgun. 236 damage base. Chews up deathclaw in 5 rounds.
Brian Kennedy Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 My verdict so far -- combat is amazing, main plot line is sort of dumb, side quests are great, crafting is awesome but tough to figure out. My only serious complaint is that it forces you to be combat-oriented, when the Big Rule of Fallout is that you should be able to win by playing a science nerd or a charismatic wimp or whatever.
Brasidas Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 Got a 10mm with a 20% chance of crippling legs. A few shots, and I then walk behind the foe and chop him up with my flambestick. Always short on 10mm ammo, but nothing is that challenging anymore. Ever seen a one legged Assaultron chase after you? Hilarity.
Stefan Fredriksson Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Suddenly found myself with many cores, but I prefer to play mostly without power armor.Notable exception when I went to do the Independence mission, and had to pass through city. Everyone seemed to want me dead except for a drug-dealer at an armor repair-station.
Mr King Posted November 24, 2015 Author Posted November 24, 2015 Having too much fun in this game, but the heart to heart talks between you and your companions is a little much for my taste. The modding community is off to a good start. I think it was a day before the first nude female mod was out. Though I still have some reservations as Bethesda has not released the modding kit, and most importantly their Bethesda.net launcher. Â Meanwhile I am having fun goofing with the settlers. Â I dubbed him Klinger. Â
Stefan Fredriksson Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 Noob-question, but here goes: the perk Magazines, once I have "read" them, do I need to keep them? I run the game solo, have not even picked up the dog. Level 17 so far.So I will probably be out by midsummer.
Harold Jones Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 Noob-question, but here goes: the perk Magazines, once I have "read" them, do I need to keep them? I run the game solo, have not even picked up the dog. Level 17 so far.So I will probably be out by midsummer. As far as I can tell no, but since they weigh nothing I keep them anyway. My plan is to display them in my house once I get around to decorating it.
Mr King Posted November 25, 2015 Author Posted November 25, 2015 (edited) Stefan you can find these comic book racks in some settlements already, and you can also craft them. Â Edited November 26, 2015 by Mr King
Mr King Posted November 26, 2015 Author Posted November 26, 2015 I saw some really cool AI behavior tonight.    While on a quest with a quest companion, we were sneaking around a dungeon , engaging mobs with silenced weapons, and I happened to look behind us, and found an enemy NPC sneaking up on us. He was practically on top of us by the time I turned around and caught him. I have never seen that kind of behavior out of Bethesda AI before. Usually they just go ape, and start shooting you from halfway across the map. Also while out wandering in the wasteland I had a Brotherhood vertibird circling overhead for a short while. I came across a super mutant encampment with the Brotherhood vertibird still in the area. I started engaging super mutants from long range with a silenced sniper rifle. While this was taking place, the Brotherhood lands down by the encampment. I watch as they are grouped around the vertibird still and a mutant suicider comes running out to go dirka dirka with his nuke. I just let nature take its course. Blew the hell out of the vertibird, and took out all of the Brotherhood. I got a nice complete set of Brotherhood II T-60B power armor when I moved in to pick the bodies clean.   Â
Mr King Posted November 28, 2015 Author Posted November 28, 2015 I decided I wanted to roll a new character as a sniper, and had a sudden inspiration to make Mike from Breaking Bad (Johnathan Banks). Not spot on, but it was fun making him. Â Â Â
Stefan Fredriksson Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 Cant remember how much you could modify weapons in FO3, but I do like it in FO4. Makes my Lucky 10 mm still valid at level 24.Also like that you dont have to repair guns as in 3.Like that there are less vaults.Have also seen "intelligent" behavior. Was actually dogs who broke up and flanked me.Witcher 3 didnt get me away from Wot, but this has.
Daan Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Does anyone of you use big guns more than occasionally? Currently at level 18, but I hardly find ammo for things like miniguns, flamers or rocket launchers. It does not seem like a viable weapon class so far.
Simon Tan Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 They all suck. My .308 suppressed combat rifle is ridiculous.
Mr King Posted December 7, 2015 Author Posted December 7, 2015 My current character is a stealthy, silenced pistol toting, VATS killing machine. I also have a nice silenced legendary rifle and stealthed combat knife to compliment my pistol. I am playing on Ultra Hard, and may up it to Survival.
Harold Jones Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Occasionally I run into situations that are just too much work to beat with my Advanced Combat Rifle and Explosive Shotgun combination so I pop back to Sanctuary and grab my tricked out missile launcher or climb into armor and grab the minigun, but for the most part I don't use the big guns much.
Daan Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 Now at level 21 still running around in my improved Vault suit (with overlying armour of course). Did any of you find an alternative and upgradable piece of clothing?
Stefan Fredriksson Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 I have the Minuteman general uniform, but skipped the hat for a fiberglass combat helmet.
Brian Kennedy Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Has anybody ever found a use for the minigun? The slow warmup time, low damage per shot/burst and massive ammo consumption seem to render it pretty useless.
