Its official I need help, I just can not pass by any piece of junk in my way i must pick it up. I think there is a term for my condition :)

Being playing on hardest difficulty and the first fight with the deathclaw was exhilarating!

I fought a boss mob tonight that was the toughest vanilla Bethesda mob I have ever came up against since starting to play Bethesda RPGs with Oblivion. I loved every minute of it.

The mutating legendary mobs are a great addition. I am hoping as I get further into the game, Bethesda will have put some story arc into why they exist.

Hint to the wise, definitely get Awareness if you have a perception of at least three by level 20. I ran into a Legendary Mr. Gutsy and it wasn't pleasant even with a pulse grenade. Also, the advanced, robots (Gutsys, Securitytrons, Assaultrons etc...) all self destruct within a couple seconds of being defeated, and not just a small one like a frag going off.

Anyone else walk around hitting "Q" a lot besides me? I was near a road while watching the legendary Mr. Gutsy taking out a caravan, and just as I was about to pitch in to help the guards I noticed I was being "Cautioned" while attempting to hide. I quickly looked around me and hit "Q" a lot, and found a Deathclaw sneaking up behind me.

This game is definitely a few steps up from FO3 and New Vegas. I hope they implement ammo crafting in the near future.

What difficulty are you all playing on? I am only three hours into the game on normal and have not met any serious resistence yet. The first deathclaw with the power armour and minigun went down quickly. I have to admit, I have not ventured far out of the NE corner.

I'm playing at normal. I like it, it's relaxing and my nicely kitted out .38 pipe pistol is effective. I know if I changed the difficulty I'd have to get a real gun and ammo for it. Since I'm kind of afflicted with alt-itis I'll probably start a character in hard mode in the next couple days.

I switched the difficulty to hard after my previous post. It's OK, the enemies do more damage and require more bullets but not so much to make it completely unrealistic.

I'm baffled why they don't allow a complete remapping of keys. That's like a car that doesn't come standard with windshield wipers.

Tweaked the field of view and messed with mouse acceleration and it's playable now.

Had fun going from mad-max with double barrel shotgun to 1940 era private dick with fedora and tommy gun :D Now it's time for some starship troopers -- nuclear capable. It's the only way to be sure against those damn deathclaws.

Yea, I was birdwatching and saw two male Deathclaws duke it out until the loser ran off, and it was heading to one of my unmanned outposts I had just set up defenses in, so I popped one (.308) into him and he exploded into many bits. I was a little shocked, so I attempted this again using many reloads on various weapons. Seems territorial fights result in the loser not being killed by other Deathclaws, but instead by the first thing the losing Deathclaw encounters after losing. I then set up a couple defensive bottlecap mines and jumped on a jagged peak and started sniping the winner. It was funny when he jumped at me and flew right past me as I dodged and he fell down a cliff. A couple frags crippled him where he lay and he was finished off with a clip of 10mm.

Then later ran into a 3rd Deathclaw on a street. Thankfully I saw it coming a ways off, and scrambled into cover, found a building and sniped it down to almost no health before it started running away.

I am playing on normal so I don't know how I keep running into so many legendary mobs. Sure is fun.

I've run into a a few legendaries the easiest (and funniest) were a legendary mole rat, and rad roach. The legendary super mutant I ran into was a bit of battle, got a nice headshot with my .50 pipe rifle to open the ball then I switched to my .308 sniper rifle for the mid game and when he finally charged me I burned him the rest of the way down with 10mm and a grenade. Sadly I only got a sword, it's a nice sword but the only melee I do is when I need to bash something with a gun.

I have a laser rifle that never runs out of ammo. I experimented with it by modifying it to Improved Sniper, with max capacitor and focused. I then ran around killing everything with it non-stop at all ranges. I'm sure if I fought some higher level laser resistant foes it wouldn't be as unbalanced but I've decided I won't be using it.

Holy crap. I just offed a Legendary Mutant Brute, and got a piece of Synth Chameleon Armor. Didn't think much of it until I put it on. Makes you invisible when you hide and remain motionless. That's dream armor for a Sniper character.

Legendary deathclaw in highest difficulty. Burned almost all my ammo taking him down. Thankfully it was in a building so I could hide and was not killed, he managed some good hits still. And I did not bring my power armor too because I thought it would be an easy fight with raders.

Only got a boxing glove :(

Really like the gun customization but I can not wait for the UI mod.

A really cool thing I noticed about deathclaws is when they lose their agro to you, they seek out dark, shadowy areas to lurk in.

Highest dificulty is how this game must be played, I am level 15 with decent weapons and I still have to manage my ammo consuption. In previous fallout games by this stage I would have several thousand of each ammo type which took the fun out of scavanging.

Energy weapons are the first to run out.

Still have not managed to get to Diamond city, I always seem to get sidetracked.

One thing I'm wondering about, are there any skills like there used to be with guns and so on?

I also like how they bound away with both legs. The animations and mannerisms are definitely a order higher.

I am not sure I follow Richard, do you mean perks like Bloody Mess?
