Mr King Posted November 10, 2015 Author Posted November 10, 2015 I woke up this morning at 2am randomly and found Fallout 4 had unlocked. Been playing it off and on since then. I am having a lot of fun, but coming from my modded UI Skyrim it feels clunky. Part of the reason for the clunkiness, is the fact that the FOV is set for consoles, and the mouse sensitivity needs adjusted. Here is a guide on how to easily fix those issues., http://files.shanelenzen.com/fix-fallout-4.html
GregShaw Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Just downloaded and installed it this morning. Thanks for that link, the mouse control absolutely sucks. I'll try them, right now I can't get the mouse anywhere near the bottom of the screen. Dumbing game down to the console level of control, doesn't fill me with hope.
Guest Jason L Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 And shit like that is why I'm waiting for all the mods, etc before buying. Ie right around GOTY release.
Mr King Posted November 11, 2015 Author Posted November 11, 2015 I don't know other than that issue, I am having a total blast.

Brasidas Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 I love sniping with bolt-action rifles in FO4, took out a building full of mutants before they sent a red-shirt after me. Also, has anyone else run into the suicide mutant that carries a primed mini-nuke yet? Free mini-nukes! Also, mutant canines are bad ass. Also, do ghouls teleport across the screen right into your face before you realize it, or is that just me?
Mistral Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Two more days of work and then one week of leave. You just wait
Harold Jones Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 So far I'm having fun just puttering around scrapping houses and tinkering with crafting. I kind of went pistols first but I think I'll switch to rifles going forward, although firing the minigun can be entertaining.
Mr King Posted November 11, 2015 Author Posted November 11, 2015 I have experienced a pretty nasty random crash twice now. My monitors turn off, turn on and I find my computer rebooting. Windows says it is a blue screen of death crash. I have the latest graphics drivers. I am not really sure what is causing it at this point.
GregShaw Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Controls still suck, Fallout3 and NV were much better. VATS isn't as useful with lousy mouse control seeming randomly moving to different areas when I'm trying to click on a specific one. I've had a lot of freezes for 30+ secs at a time; Win7 on a i7 3.8 w/16 gb RAM, running from an SSD on a GeForce 960. ALT-TAB out seems to fix it, or just giving it a minute or so. Couple times I've been killed by the time I regain control. Going to be much more aggressive with quick saves now. Gameplay is good, and like all the previous games there is a lot to do. But, the lousy console based controls and freezes are unsatisfactory.
Brasidas Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 I do dislike the mouse controls in VATS, but I do think you can use keys to move your aiming point, but since I primarily snipe, it isn't that big a problem for me, except with insects where their segments are so compact. I had one hard freeze last night on Windows 10 after about 20 hours of gameplay. So far, this game has zero technical issues except for the one crash (playing on a 26:9 monitor, on Ultra - Yes, it is beautiful).I went into Cambridge today, and discovered the wonder of a legendary roaming ghoul, which didn't particularly stand out from the crowd until the customary assault rifle double tap didn't drop it in real time. I do like how you can blow limbs off and the ghouls still crawl or stumble after you. I've taken to setting mines every time I go into a building to prevent sneakers. They tend to alert me more effectively than the psychotic dog's whining.
Mr King Posted November 12, 2015 Author Posted November 12, 2015 Other than the two crashes I mentioned, I am having pretty much no issues with the game. I put a bayonet mod on my main gun. The melee function is great for when a ghoul manages to leak through and get in my face. It is also great for dealing with critters like molerats. The little bastards. I have run into a couple Fatman equipped bad guys. The first time I heard a sudden whistling behind me, then next thing I know I am dead with a massive explosion occurring around me. Pretty cool.
Harold Jones Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 Here's a guide for tweaking various things, including mouse acceleration. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=551069501&tscn=1447077828it has some steam specific file locations so if you aren't using steam you'll have to adjust for that but turning off mouse acceleration is worth it.
Brian Kennedy Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 The combat is vastly better, but I feel like I'm gonna need to take a college-level course or something to understand the crafting system.
Harold Jones Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 I didn't play any of the previous fallout versions so it's all new to me. I've been enjoying discovering things as I go but this thread on reddit has filled in a few holes for me. https://www.reddit.com/r/fo4/comments/3shl9i/fallout_4_tips_everyone_should_know/
Mr King Posted November 12, 2015 Author Posted November 12, 2015 I'm on PC running FO4 at Ultra, the graphics look great. I can't speak for console versions of the game.
Brasidas Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Yea, I don't play consoles primarily because of the graphics, but also the controls suck. I was playing on day 1 and I had non-native resolution on my game in windowed mode. That created so many jaggies, I started to understand why so many people were upset with the game graphics. Then I did a search on configuring the game graphics on 2k resolutions, and found how to change the *.ini file to display 2560*1080 and reality stopped existing for me this week. BTW, if you aren't level 10 yet, (I would highly recommend NOT going near Old Gullet SInkhole. If you do, it is quite the show especially if caravans are nearby. Bad news: The dog will always lead enemies right to you) .
sunday Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 (edited) I tried Fallout 3 in PS3. Got a scare after too many white nights. I am afraid of trying this one. Edited November 13, 2015 by sunday
