Markus Becker Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 25 pounder? Cops stopped someone with an old artillery gun he bought for 9k euros in Belgium.
rmgill Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 OQF, 25 Pounder, looks like. The image seems to be squished in the vertical a bit.
urbanoid Posted November 10, 2024 Posted November 10, 2024 As we know, German government is pretty much kil. What does one do when his government is kil? Usually elections, but apparently Germany has problems with paper: Fortunately, Poland is ready to help: German industry apparently claims there's enough paper though:
Markus Becker Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 Looks like elections will have to wait a while. Organizational issue like a shortage of paper for the ballots. So says the Chairwoman of the federal election commission. She was appointed by the interior secretary, who's from Scholz's party. Get's better, a day before she said it could be done, no problems. Then she got contacted. The reasons for the election delaying action is money, money and prosecution. In January a round of promotions beings in the bureaucracy, by the end of March they are done. So plenty of lucrative positions for loyal party soldiers. For the politicians staying in office that long means they also get pensions for 2025. And there's a proposed bill to cut red tape. Part of it would allow businesses to destroy records several years sooner. BTW, Scholz is involved in a tax evasion scandal called Cum - ex. Much evidence is likely to be destroyed if the bill gets passed. Top WRT Polish aid: What I, a German really like about that shit post is that it comes from the oh so much hailed center left, not the evil conservatives. It's like even the Polish left doesn't like the German left that likes the Polish left

urbanoid Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 Based American zoomer girl vs cringe German justice system Quote In Germany, a case from June 2024 is being revisited. A 20-year-old American woman has been charged with causing bodily harm resulting in death after stabbing an Eritrean citizen in the heart area at the Kaiserslautern train station who was grabbing her buttocks on an escalator. According to the prosecutor's office, the line of self-defense was crossed because the harasser had already started to withdraw after exchanging words, but was still fatally wounded. https://x.com/LukaszBok/status/1863904708160548870

Murph Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 When I was stationed there in the mid 1980's there was a sharp divide between the War generation, and the post war generation. Those pre war types were down right scary tough, the post war types, not so much.
Murph Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 What does this portend for Germany? The AfD seems to be gaining ground, and possibly will form a coalition with the ruling party to get things done? https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2024/12/germanys-rightwing-afd-arrives-february-election-as-major/

It means the process will be restarted from scratch, with the government due to decide a date for a new vote. The first round was won by Calin Georgescu, an almost unknown far-right Nato-sceptic who has previously praised Vladimir Putin. The court's decision comes after intelligence documents were declassified, suggesting Georgescu benefitted from a mass influence operation – conducted from abroad – to interfere with the result of the vote.

The AfD is a classic conservative party. They are against immigration, against wokeness and in favour of traditional and Christian values like classic families. They also do not want to waste money on the war in the Ukraine and see a Russian-German partnership as beneficial. For that they are branded as Nazis and are unfairly attacked in the media and by the NPC parties. I would say their stance is probably like the centrist part of the US Republicans or even right wing Democrats. In the US their positions would be absolutely mainstream. lucklucky Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 https://x.com/visegrad24/status/1867190438941061429 Quote Sweden Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Ebba Busch stated today that "she's furious with Germany" for dismantling its nuclear power plants, causing a spike in energy prices in Sweden. Southern Sweden has record-high energy prices today due to having send electricity to Germany via undersea power cables today. Cold weather coupled with no wind has driven up the demand in Germany from other sources than wind. EU regulations force Sweden to send that electricity to Germany, driving up prices in southern Sweden today to be nearly 200 times higher than they are in northern Sweden. A 10-minute shower in southern Sweden costs around USD 5 during today's price spike. Ebba Busch added that Germany's decision to dismantle its nuclear power plants has also other detrimental effects for Europe: "I'm furious with the Germans. They have made a decision for their country, which they have the right to make; it's their right to decide. But it has had very serious consequences, also for the EU's competitiveness because we see that German competitiveness has dropped significantly." She said that Germany's actions have also reduced its ability to help Ukraine.
rmgill Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 Electric showers? What about natural gas for heating water?

urbanoid Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 Hydro + nuclear is some 70% of their generation, the rest is mostly wind.

Ohh. Single source. Ick. I have gas heat with an electric blower. I can run that easily with a generator. I have a natural gas water heater as well that is NOT dependent upon electricity. So if I have a power outage I can have warm showers and if needs require, I can run the heat with the generator set during a protracted outage. Sounds like Sweden has real time pricing on electricity too for consumers. That has to suck. And heat pumps in winter, in a northern climate, WTF?!?!? Edited December 12, 2024 by rmgill

Scandinavia likely has the largest number of heat pumps per capita and also a ridculouis amount of cheap electricity from hydropower. When they don't need to help ze Germans, that is.
