As usual Stuart's spin on the UK body politic is unique amongst tank-netters, and far from being entirely representative of the mass of UK citizens, but you should all know this by now :D

Did anyone mention that Corbyn wants to find an amicable agreement with the Argentinians, and also thinks that we're being far too nasty to the Russians over their legitimate concerns about the massed NATO troops on their borders, etc.

Sadly, other things he's said (straight out of the Tony Benn playbook, actually) are to play the UK's international "presence" by describing the UK as "a small island" and leaping from that to a claim that we therefore don't need a "big" armed forces.

Well, I don't think anyone could claim that we have a big armed forces now, so what he constitutes an appropriate size would likely involve a Mirror dinghy and the Edinburgh saluting gun.

Does the US have a market for safety consultants with a reasonable knowledge of functional safety, reliability analysis and fault trees? (Only joking, I know that all that health and safety bullshit is Yurropeen nonsense.)

J Corbyn (as distinct from his brother Piers, weather forecaster to the eccentric) was interviewed by the BBC in 2013, & talked about the Falklands. In the process, he displayed appalling ignorance about some other issues which he chose to compare with the Falklands. Got everything wrong -

Interviewer: "If they vote to stay British, then isn't that the end of the story?"

Corbyn: "No, not entirely. Because relationships with Argentina are going to be very difficult. There's going to be an economic blockade quite possibly. There's going to be very bad relations with the whole of Latin America. Other situations like this, for example the dispute between Finland and Sweden over Alma Islands, I think that's the correct pronunciation, in the Baltic were sorted out by some degree of joint administration while retaining nationality. It was done with Hong Kong, it was done to some extent with Gibraltar. There's another way without spending a huge sum of money and without the risk of another catastrophic conflict, which would damage us and damage our relationship with the entire of Latin America.'

South America is getting richer at a rate comparable to Asia a few years back,

Nope. Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela - slumping. Peru & other successful exporters to China - slowing down, because Chinese demand for their minerals, food, etc. is slowing down.

What is it about Gibraltar that keeps coming up? :D

I think Holy Grail reasoning will clarify;

Gibralter = Gib + alter

alter => Tabernacle

Tabernacle => Ark of the Covenant

Ark of the Covenant => Knights Templar => Illuminati => Freemasons => America's Founding Fathers => Bush family => George Bush => Karl Rove

I think we can safely assume that Karl Rove does not float.

Ceuta and Melilla are different, as when they were incorporated to the Crown of Castile there was no Moroccan state, and also they are no colonies. Actually, Navarre was integrated into Spain a few years after Ceuta and Melilla.

What about Bordeaux? The wine's better. Or go for Normandy if you prefer cider. Ah, so many choices! What about Hannover, for beer & sausages?

Hannover was into crown ( Hanover of House) in ancient day, but not of today, NovoBritain is of shrinking.

By end of 2015 the last Tommys will have left the Kingdom of Hannover. The reverse of green men.

Oh, thats later. Like Henry V found, you have to make a start somewhere, even in a dismal dump like Harfleur. :D

Incidentally, it was the 600th Anniversary of Agincourt this year. The French apparently didnt like to make a big thing about it. :)

Er, not until 25 October mate. :)
