Well, if they are concerned that its going to get violent, then yes, I entirely agree it shouldnt have been signed off on. And if they were  not concerned, clearly they were fucking him about.

If they’re concerned its going to get violent then lay on more plod and arrest the violent actors. If its a tough job, then pull up your pants and do the tough job. Thats why you’re in the police. You’re not protecting society by punishing the victims for possibly being victims.

Exactly. Either there was a problem, and they should have stamped on it. Or there wasnt a problem, and they were for some reason behaving pro palestinian. Both positions are unacceptable.

Yes, the police are undermanned. Yes, they had a bad experience in 2010 and dont want to have it happen again. But you know, we realise its a tough job. There are other careers.

I can see police getting involved if a counter protester wades into a crowd to start agitating.  Just walking beside them protesting without deliberately provoking them?  Not a police matter unless he's attacked.

If he said 'Excuse me sir, are you sure thats wise?', that would be fair enough. But he wasnt doing that.

Probably said something much like that at the very beginning before recording began and the activist insisted on trying to walk through the crowd.

Well, he is entitled to though, isnt he? What are we saying, that there are no go zones for Jews?

If it was just an isolated case, id say it was just that. But after allowing Palestinians to parade waving Nazi flags, after tearing down posters of hostages... to me it just looks like taking a side. The side of least resistance I suspect.

In other news the Met has apologised again on the 31'st anniversary of the murder of Stephen Lawrence. Baroness Lawrence, the mother, says she would like the case reopened. Turns out that there was a 6th suspect nobody knew about that died a couple of years back, that could have been prosecuted and for whatever reason was not. They guy heading the case said he was very sorry, very ashamed, and would get answers to her. And then never contacted her again. Basically they have spent 31 years learning absolutely no lessons on how you deal with high profile murders.

This organization is either corrupt or incompetent. Sweep it away and replace it with something fit for the 21st century.

Yeah, wouldn't take long for the pro-Hamas types to set up pickets outside of every synagogue with the plod helping prevent Jews from attending service.

Its like what im watching in Columbia university right now, being canvased by pro palestinian demonstrators. Its easy to see that kindset catchign on and extending to synagogues. Or indeed  yes, our universities too.

A London museum is facing backlash after it was revealed that a special ‘LGBTQ audio guide’ it is providing to visitors is claiming that the wife of King George III was mixed race.

The audio guide is being used in the Queen’s House in Greenwich, a publicly funded part of Royal Museums Greenwich.

A section of the guide references a large golden sculpture of Queen Charlotte, claiming: “Queen Charlotte, the nation’s first royal person of colour.”

The guide then states “Yep, you heard me. The insecure white boys writing history conveniently forget to mention that bit, because… well, structural racism.”

Hmm.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlotte_of_Mecklenburg-Strelitz

Proponents of the African ancestry claim also hold to a literal interpretation of Baron Stockmar's diary, in which he described Charlotte as "small and crooked, with a real Mulatto face". Stockmar, who served as personal physician to the queen's granddaughter's husband Leopold I of Belgium, arrived at court just two years before Charlotte's death in 1816. His descriptions of Charlotte's children in this same diary are equally unflattering.[88]

In 1997, Mario de Valdes y Cocom, a genealogist and self-described "independent researcher",[89][90] popularized and expanded on earlier arguments in an article for PBS Frontline,[91] which has since been cited as the main source by a number of articles on the topic.[92][93][94][95] Valdes also seized on Charlotte's 1761 Allan Ramsay portrait as evidence of African ancestry, citing the queen's "unmistakable African appearance" and "negroid physiogomy" [sic].[91] Valdes claimed that Charlotte had inherited these features from one of her distant ancestors, Madragana (born c. 1230), a mistress of King Afonso III of Portugal (c. 1210 – 1279).[96] His conclusion is based on various historical sources that describe Madragana as either Moorish[97] or Mozarab,[98] which Valdes interpreted to mean that she was black.[87]

Although popular among the general public, the claims are largely denounced by most scholars.[99][85][100][101][87] Aside from Stockmar's jab at her appearance shortly before her death, Charlotte was never referred to as having any specifically African physical features, let alone ancestry, during her lifetime. Furthermore, her portraiture was not atypical for her time, and painted portraits in general should not be considered reliable evidence of a sitter's true appearance.[101] The use of the term "Moor" as a racial identifier for Charlotte's ancestor Madragana is also inconclusive as during the Middle Ages the term was not used to describe race but religious affiliation.[102][103] Regardless, Madragana was more likely Mozarab,[104][105][106][107] and any genetic contribution from an ancestor fifteen generations removed would be so diluted as to have a negligible effect on her appearance.[100][87] Historian Andrew Roberts describes the claims as "utter rubbish", and attributes its public popularity to a hesitancy among historians to openly address it due to its "cultural cringe factor".[99]

In 2017, following the announcement of the engagement of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, a number of news articles were published promoting the claims.[92][86][108] David Buck, a Buckingham Palace spokesperson, was quoted by the Boston Globe as saying: "This has been rumoured for years and years. It is a matter of history, and frankly, we've got far more important things to talk about."[109] In the 2023 Netflix series Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story India Amarteifio was cast as a mixed-race Charlotte.[110][111][112]

On that basis, as we're all "out of Africa", can I claim my race card, too?

And so are pro-Palestinian activists through a pro-Israel demonstration or any counter protesters through any protest.   Of course that's just asking for a breach of the peace, even to turn a demonstration into a riot.  Are you then going to ban all protests by anyone because they could go bad?

you may well be right that British policing needs to be torn down and rebuilt, but keeping the peace at a volatile demonstration is not one of the reasons.

China reacts predicably, of course. I wonder what the leverage was.

Witney is near RAF Brize Norton, for what that might be worth.

Funny how many spies seem to hang out in Oxfordshire. Klaus Fuch's contact used to live in Great Rollwright.

You're the wrong kind.

Rob Henderson, the author of "Troubled: A Memoir of Foster Care, Family, and Social Class" has a great saying. His mother was Korean, father unknown. DNA testing showed that his biological father was Latino. He says "I went to bed white adjacent, and woke up a disadvantaged minority."

I haven't seen any video of Jewish/Israeli demonstrators being violent.

Probably because the cops are keeping pro-Palestinians separate so there's not as much cause and sensationalist media isn't reporting it.
