That's true in many American PD's. Too intelligent is supposedly prone towards boredom. Don't want police being proactive towards the wrong people, politicians for example. S/F....Ken M

From what I can see it's the same over here and part of a deliberate policy. The top cops up to Chief Constable level are politicians before Plod, as most if not all are fast-track graduate entries and frequently Common Purpose graduates too. They have become increasingly politicised in inverse proportion to the operational capabilities of normal Plod whose quality has been deliberately undermined by the diktats of equality, diversity & PC (excuse the pun) to the point where the most basic policing functions are too difficult *except* when it comes to enforcing the wishes & desires of their political masters. I think most Euro Plod have gone the same way, the German cops behaviour during the current gimmegrant invasion is particularly noticeable in this regard.

Are yours now engaged in revenue enhancement activities, as are ours? That's the maddening thing here, in a lot of towns. Property crime barely gets noticed, but the city somehow found hundreds of thousands for stoplight cameras and one or more full-time officers typing out tickets-by-mail. In a sane world, the city's PD would spend a wee bit more time cruising those neighborhoods where most of the houses have bars on the windows...

Patrolling crime prone hoods? Sounds like racism.

Here in Chitcago, the police have essentially stopped doing anything, due to relentless political persecution, so we're going to see how hard the savages can savage. It's going to be awesome, 600+ killed, 3500+shot I'm betting. Now to just turn off the welfare, and we can really get this party started.... S/F....Ken M

Tsk. An obvious cad, there, with his hands in his pockets.

btw, "pants" over here is definitely a diminutive of "underpants".

"Skivvies" is underwear generally, probably with a services origination, but there are almost as many ways of saying underwear as there are ways of saying "drunk".

Also, don't forget that a "faggot" is also a bundle of sticks.

Traffic cameras & the like are mostly run by city & town councils here, & they send you a letter saying 'pay up or else', & enclosing a timed photo. The letter-producing system is pretty automatic, with clerks providing the human input. No need for all that expensive police training for such people. The police get involved it you don't pay up, I think.

They certainly run the system to raise money, though.

Some 7000 will be cut. As of now there is,

MONTREAL - Bombardier confirms it will cut 1,750 employees in Montreal, Toronto and Belfast over the coming months to adjust for weak demand for some of its business jets.

About 1,000 of the lost jobs will be in Montreal where Bombardier has its main operations while 480 are in Toronto and 280 are in Belfast.

Clearly Obi Wan had never been to Gloucester.

Cape Town.

emergency MDs go there to learn about bullet wounds.

Where in Baltimore is "Cape Town"? I know of Cherry Hill, Sandtown, Orleans St, North Ave, hell Fells Point after an absolutely epic night of pub crawling about eight years ago. . .

I got impression most of current Rus teens are much more positive about USSR times then we, generation of last Soviet teens. They are not getting reasons of the state collapsing ( because their parents are shy to tell it was our fault, we traded our state for illusion of Western luxury and prefer to tell stories of evil enemies responsible and it is not difficult since West proudly parade victory in Cold War on every corner)

All sides can claim victory in Cold War. We didn't blow ourselves up

Im just going to leave this here without comment in case I get hacked again by Thatcheristas. :D

Tory students lobby for Margaret Thatcher statue taller than the Statue of Liberty A GIANT statue of Margaret Thatcher – standing taller than the Statue of Liberty – could be built at a university campus.

Student union officials have approved an initial petition to install the 250ft “Iron Lady”, complete with a handbag of “highly polished bronze”.

Started by Kent University’s Conservative Society, the petition, states: “The statue would be built in the Greco-Roman style with a design inspired by the Colossus of Rhodes.

“It would be on a 50ft-high white marble pedestal across from the university’s nightclub ... to encourage good and sensible behaviour under its gaze.”

The statue is the brainchild of the Tory society’s chairman Emilio Kyprianou.

“This began as an attempt to highlight problems with the current petition system,” he told student newspaper The Tab.

“Having said that, we are going to run with it. This could be a real positive for Kent.”

The petition states that the statue would be built in a “46:1 scale” while the polished bronze would serve as a “shining testament to liberty” and would “dazzle the eyes of lefties”.

The petition must now attract 150 signatures before it is put to a student vote.

Great idea, but why not lodge her next to Parliament? Have her scowling face looking down on the back benchers would just be awesome...

Im not even sure the right wing Tories would go for that. Most of them seem to have fallen out with her before the final Putsch.

Might make a good funfair ride though, being swung around at 60rpm in her handbag till you get dizzy. :)

And have her play an endless loop of her quote about the wonderfulness of "Other peoples money" :P

Or you could turn it into a carousel and have an endless loop playing 'The lady is not for turning'. :D

So many ideas. Can I have someone elses money to make it happen? Pretty please?

Posted

Well, if you're going to go that route, go full animatronic. Have her scold MPs as they walk into the entrance of Parliament.

As for Tory support, who do you think needs the scolding? :)

I hope they put a nice pair of polished steel testicles on the statue. Even if they remain invisible.

Just knowing that they are there.

International relations according to Peppa Pig. America and Russia wont share the sandpit with anyone else. Oh the hilarity. :D

https://www.youtube video

Russia and the US are so much alike :D

The sandpit made me think of the South China Sea actually. China in there taking all the good sand to make a nice sand castle. Vietnam and the Philippines are most vocal in protests. Malaysia and Indonesia just kind of sitting on Vietnam's and the Philippines side in the sandpit and watching. Tiny Cambodia backs China. US, Japan, and Australia walk over to the sandpit saying China isn't playing nice. China saying it will let everyone enjoy it's sand castle so butt out. Well anyway..

The ME is also probably applicable in some way.
