A person from the UK lecturing anybody about free speech, while the police arrests citizens of the UK for social media posts - British humour is just in a league of its own.

This bears reposting.

Yes, having anyone from the UK, or for that fact most western European countries lecture us on free speech when they are investigating and arresting those who speak freely is not only side splittingly funny, it is so un self aware it is hilarious.  Get ready for Orwell, it is coming to a European country near you real soon now.

There's a saying going around along the lines of "Optimists hope Orwell was right, pessimists fear Huxley was right."

It is curious that ethnic&religious (Christian, esp. Catholic excluded) diversity are considered as strengths, but diversity of political opinion it is not.

I really would like to hear from our Russian members how things are going in Russia, not something that the MSM bullsh*t artists come up with.

Unfortunately we're living in a world where the amalgamation of Orwell, Huxley, Vonnegut, Bradbury and the rest of the dystopian authors have already happened. Now it gotten to the point where Average John and Jane Doe are finally noticing it and speaking up.

Having read M. Z. Williamson's free hold series the degree of accuracy HE seems to be calling things is disturbing.

First rate leader that one:

"  I'm sorry but you fail to understand the process. The rumour of Kursk submarine  sunk as result of collision (or even direct attack) with/by Western submarine became wide spread in Russia almost from Day 1, and it was massive harm to Putin personal political standing since it is widely believed he was covering up the story since he is pro-Western stooge. So this "they" were definitely not Putin&Co (as they were the loosing side). "   www.tanknet.org/index.php?/topic/47774-nato-return-to-cold-war-force-structure/page/195/#comment-1825366

That its a narrative that is repeated, doesnt make it true. Im sure many people remember Russians talking about how great Communism was and that it would bury us. Talk doesnt constitute reality, just a perspective.

You miss the point. This is what Putin said:

"

After the tragedy, the submariners' widows picketed, demanding that those responsible for failing to help the sailors be punished. Russian journalist Sergei Dorenko, who would later die in a mysterious accident while driving his motorcycle, said at the time that Putin called the widows of the victims "prostitutes who were  paid ten dollars."

"He called Channel One and said that they had hired prostitutes to come to discredit him", - Sergei Dorenko, a Russian journalist."

First, there was nothing "mysterious" in Sergey Dorenko's death

"On May 9, 2019, Dorenko rode a Triumph Bobber motorcycle[68] along Zemlyanoy Val Street from Kursky Railway Station to Taganskaya Square. In front of house No. 71, he became ill, lost control and, falling off his motorcycle, flew to the bump of the oncoming lane[69]. The journalist was taken to the hospital, where he died at the age of 60, without regaining consciousness[70]. The cause of the journalist's death was hemotamponade, an accumulation of fluid that prevents the functioning of the heart. The conclusion of the forensic experts concluded that there was a ruptured thoracic aortic aneurysm[71].

Subsequently, it became known that Dorenko, on the day of his death, rode a motorcycle for more than 700 kilometers from Moscow to Kostroma and back, on the way back he stopped at the dacha of sinologist Bronislav Vinogrodsky near Pereslavl—Zalessky, after which he went back to Moscow. At the dacha, he complained of increased blood pressure and "flies" in front of his eyes, the conversation between the interlocutors was on the topic of death and immortality[72].

Dorenko's widow Yulia reported that her husband had had heart problems for a long time, "he knew about heart problems, and he constantly took medications to reduce blood pressure"[73]. In 2016, doctors discovered Dorenko had an aneurysm of the ascending aorta, insufficiency of the aortic valve, and dilation of the left ventricular cavity[74].

On May 10, 2019, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his condolences over the death of the journalist[75]." Доренко, Сергей Леонидович — Википедия

Second, Putin is too careful to say anything that could be used against him (not surprising, since he knows he is balancing between the anger of Russians and anger of his Western masters). That is why his comment "It sank." is indication of him not willing to answer the question of what really happened.

Have i said it is true? Reality is, there is a wide spread opinion - and Putin (personally and ":collective") is seen as collaborating with West to cover up the story. Not adding him popularity, for obvious reasons.

Collaborate over what? One of the Goddamn HTP fueled Torpedos blew up, and took the rest of the bomb room with it. HTP always a death trap, even when we were experimenting with HTP powered submarines in the 1950's. Search 'HMS Exploder'.

There were so many practical problems with the technology, one Royal Navy submariner remarked that, 'I think the best thing we can do with peroxide is to try to get it adopted by potential enemies'.[3]

WARSAW - Poland foiled a cyber attack against the water and sewage system of a “large city”, Deputy Prime Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski said on Aug 14, adding that a cyberwar with Russia was “ongoing”.

“At the last minute, we managed to ensure that when the attack began, our (security) services found out about it and we shut everything down.

“We managed to mitigate it,” Mr Gawkowski told web portal Onet.pl, speaking of the attack which took place on Aug 13.

“Yesterday, it was possible to end up in a situation in which one of the larger cities would have been left without water,” he added, refusing to name the city in question in order not to “stir up people’s emotions”.

Mr Gawkowski, who is also the Minister of Digital Affairs, did not indicate who might be the perpetrators of the attack, but in a post on X, he referred to Russian hostility.

ARENDAL, Norway – Russian hackers briefly took control of a dam in Norway earlier in 2025, the head of the Nordic country’s counter-intelligence agency said on Aug 13, the first time Oslo has officially attributed the cyber attack to its neighbour.

While in command of the dam in Bremanger, western Norway, on April 7, the hackers opened a floodgate and released 500 litres of water a second for four hours before the attack was detected and stopped, the authorities previously said.

No one was injured during the attack.

This type of attack usually involves compromised username/password authentication. It is straightforward to implement MFA, but the "suits" usually block anything that costs more than $100USD.

Chinese cars and trucks are not making friends. My friend wanted to import Kamaz trucks to Canada in the early 2,000. Would love one of those.
