sunday Posted January 18, 2024 Posted January 18, 2024 Could be propaganda. Impressions of a Christian Japanese ballet dancer working in Russia. Somewhat long, but has chapters that could be accessed directly.

I think it is the same girl (in Russian with English subtitles, by the way she is speaking almost perfect Russian - probaby combination of natural gift and decades of practice) Her video page (in Russian and Japanese) (96) Cat Ballerina - YouTube Do not think it is propaganda - just regular life of girls who go to Russia for balley, see this girl from Brazil dancing in Kazan' (by the way also speaking next to perfect Russian)

It can't be Gerashchenko himself - he is USSR-birn and surely knows that "Moskvich" newer was "pride of the Russian automobile industry" (actually, even in Soviet time, when personal cars were scarce, Moskvich was the lowest demand car). In general, public mood here in Russia is wery unfavorable to local-made passanger cars (even if it is foreign brands assembled in Russia - for example, BMWs of Russian production were less valued then "original German cars", while as far as i remember real quality was higher because of no gastarbiters on assembly line in Russia). Re "A car enthusiast disassembled...." - probably this enthusiast can't read, as it is widely known right from the begining it is Chineese car, to relpace Renault-Nissan ones (that were also not exactly Russian) on assembly line of Renault-Nissan plant in Moscow (was "Moskvich" back in Soviet time, but sold out probably 30 years ago - and only recently renamed "Moskvich" again).

It's always possible for there to be a degree of talking up more than reality but that's something among the commonfolk. But anyway, yes, don't be late for work, not by some seconds. Some other bits, sort of yes, but a bit playing into stereotype. The thing about wife expected to give up working is certainly not true anymore. Lots of moms here have jobs of various work hour lengths, part-time, contract, standard full-time, full-time+the gung-ho overtime. She being from Yokohama, as in near Tokyo though, is more uptight socially. Osaka is socially more loose. Chatty Osaka-dialect users around, at least compared to Tokyo. But regardless, there's always some people that, with no negative intonation intended, are different than the common grain. They find the values outside of the home country bubble and give it life.
urbanoid Posted January 19, 2024 Posted January 19, 2024 It wasn't our spy, such a constitution can be bought in any shop with constitutions.
rmgill Posted January 19, 2024 Posted January 19, 2024 Why would a spy carry a copy of a constitution?

Well, he's operating illegally, under cover in an unfriendly country. Whenever he feels bad or has some doubts, the lecture of the constitution will warm his dark heart (he's a spy, so of course he has one) and lift his spirits.
