Battle Reports And Replays

Had a fun game with the Kuma again last night. Managed to sink a Phoenix whose player pro'ly left the game because it was unresponsive. Sank her with a full torpedo salvo. ^_^ I got promptly sunk by her team mates hehehehe

Great game with the Albany last night, too! Started out as oy vey with me eating some torps from a Tenryu, then lots of shells from a Clemson I think and another cruiser. Had my rudder damaged and on fire with repair crew still offline. Steaming in circles but my team mates - in their glorious individuality hehehe - managed to keep the enemy's attention off me. When I was repaired, I was only a 1000 hit points left I think, just a single salvo and I'm done.

With that state, I managed to sink three cruisers in quick succession which were all shooting at my other team mates, until I got sunk by an enemy DD's guns. Our team won the battle. :)

Yesterday, my mood at the office was bad, and so I did some online retail therapy by plonking real money for some doubloons - yes, not a sound financial move on my part.

Anyhow, my exchange credits were running low already and besides, I could really need some doubloons to convert the XP from my elite ships to free XP. And so I did, and awash with credits and much free XP, plonked down to buy a Mikasa which was on special discount sale, a Myogi with all the bells and whistles, and upgraded a few other ships as well. I played the Myogi and that's where I learned to use the recon plane. WOW! ^_^ Myogi in upgraded form isn't bad. I managed to survive the battle and able to contribute to the team's victory. Slow as hell to steer but isn't as bad as the Kawachi. I think I'll sell off the Kawachi later since I won't be using her that much anymore. I'm still keeping some of my low tier elite ships because I am not so skilled fighting with other more experienced players in high tier ships (my Atago is a hotel as a result hahahahahahahahaha!).

Wyoming is such a PITA to use hahahahaha! Big lumbering beast.... But the first game I played it, we won thanks to an effective team. I didn't realize I was that slow I ended up being a "CV escort." But 2 Kongos and a Kuma were after us. Fortunately the two CVs and one of our DDs knew wot to do. That DD did awesome work running interference against the enemy surface action group. Meanwhile, I lent my big guns to our own CV hunting group and I managed to finish off the last enemy CV. ^_^ With that done, the rest of the group folded on the Kongos and Kuma and we won the day.

I am so glad my Wyoming didn't go to a 2v1 match against those Kongos though....

Ok, I just had one of the BEST BATTLES in this game. It was an Cruiser + DD fight. No BBs, no CVs. Enemy had three St Louis, a couple of Tenryus, Chesters, Albany, and Umikazes. We had four St Louis (I was using one), an Aurora, a couple of Tenryus, and DDs as well.

I was shooting practically the entire time. Dueling with a couple of St Louis and managed to break off successfully. I then went to contribute killing a Tenryu. There were two DDs that chased me. I was the last ship on one side of the map - my remaining team mate in an Aurora was defending the base. A Chester and two Umikazes were on my tail. I made use of an island to shield me from the torps of one Umikaze and managed to sink him. A second Umikaze was on my tail charging really hard after me while a Chester was gunning me from starboard bow. I ignored the Chester and finished off the Umikaze who managed to launch torps at very close range. Seeing no room to maneuver, I quickly let loose on the Chester, and he was *this close* (a few hundred HPs left) to being sunk when the torps hit me. AWESOME BATTLE.

I had the highest performance in the team, and damaged almost all the ships of the enemy fleet.

I cannot wait to get an Omaha and try out her guns. ^_^

My most successful battle yet in this game. ^_^

My fight started with the appearance of a Kawachi. Once it got within range, I let loose my guns. Most of the damage I got from the Kawachi (interestingly - guy had accurate fire), but I managed to get within torp range and finished him off with torps. This was followed by a SoCarol by chance which tangled with one of my team mates and was withdrawing from the field, with damage. I finished it off from the stern with guns. With that done, I find the enemy CV by chance. I make for it and fire guns at long range. I get it damaged until it hides behind an island. It launches dive bombers but I managed to evade the bombs. I see another SoCarol on its way to protect the CV from me. I go to the opposite side of the island so I can close in the gap between me and the CV. The SoCarol fires guns. Some misses, some hits. By then I've rounded around the island and the CV is within torp range - and so was its escorting DD or Light Cruiser. I let loose my torpedoes and then switched to guns. By then I am soaking up gunfire from the SoCarol and escorting warship. My shells connect but then I sink. As I sink I watch my torpedoes and then BOOM BOOM BOOM they connect with the enemy CV.

AWESOME! ^_^

Hilarious game.

First, I go up the right side and execute a perfect ambush* of a Cleveland who couldn't evade my torpedo spread at something like 1.5km (he made the most fatal mistake of passing very close to an island with no vision of what's behind the corner (that is, my torpedoes) ). Dropped smoke and ran and lived... then just as I was ready to head back towards the enemy we got the base cap alarm and there was absolutely nobody nearby so I ran back... two enemy DDs there... I started firing but my horrible guns couldn't hit them... but then the morons left the cap lured by a fat juicy target - our CV came back to bait them out... morons were so focused on it I sank both of them with torpedoes at close range (and the CV lived unscathed). We won a couple minutes later, the enemy team was already broken.

* I got to admit, pulling off DD ambushes like this is pretty much the only reason why I play this game. It's immensely satisfying. Also I got 46% wins so I'm generally pretty bad I guess. Just playing for fun :D

(actually dealing with some chronic fatigue & headache so I'm pretty bad at everything at the moment... can play at most 2-3 consecutive matches...)

Indeed, it's why I just love playing with DDs more than with BBs. BBs can be so frustrating to play with especially if the enemy wants to snipe with his own BBs. Cruisers are fun too though harder to do ambushes. I use the cruisers for gun battles. For DDs, I almost exclusively just use the torpedoes - I only have IJN DDs, no USN DDs for now.

I had a fun game with the Wakatake yesterday. For a random battle, the enemy was quite inept. I managed to sink two of his DDs with torpedoes with some fancy moves, and damaged a cruiser with a torp as well until my team mates finished it. Then went after a SoCarol (I thought it was a Kawachi - oops). Stupid me, however, got stuck on an island as I tried to maneuver for the enemy BB, so I eventually ate torps from the enemy. Still, I managed to launch torps before I died and two or three connected with the enemy BB, putting it at just a few HPs left for my team mates to sink with gun fire.

I cannot wait to get a higher tier IJN DD. ^_^ I remember my Agato being sunk by a Shimakaze which launched torpedoes at long range early in the game. I managed to blunder into the full spread while being chased by the enemy's heavy Cruisers and BBs.

FINALLY (!) breached the 2000 XP barrier. The most I get is usually under 2k XP. But this battle was AWESOME! I love IJN DDs. ^_^ Only two enemy ships - but CAPITAL ships. :D CV and BB. Both by torpedo ambush akukukukukukuku! The Zuiho player was probably thinking "Aw f*ck, never mind" because I had just caught him when his fighters had just landed. So he's still reloading fighters when I rounded the island and let loose torpedoes at close range followed with guns for added measure. He didn't bother maneuvering anymore, just steamed ahead. The Myogi I caught already half damaged by our own torpedo bombers. I was lurking near some islands waiting for targets to pass by. When he was close, I moved in and came in from port stern. He spotted me and that's where i got my damage. Luckily I had smoke, the speed boost, and with some maneuvering, managed to evade most of his shots for me to get real close and let loose torpedoes using both wide and tight spreads. This is my most economical win. ^_^

Excellent team work in a battle just a while ago. Sthea in a Phoenix and me in a Kuma. Together, we held on the left side of the map and chased an enemy Wyoming. The enemy could not do anything. We kept on pouring fire after gunfire on the enemy battleship, never letting up. Sthea was doing full salvo, while I was doing sequential gunfire. The Wyoming just burned and burned and burned. Sthea took the kill. Afterwards, we both were looking for enemy CV but enemy CV played well as well, and sank BOTH of us in quick succession. :D When we sank, the team had two bases in possession and the enemy had 2 CVs and 1 BB left. Our team had only one CV from the start of the game and it was in full health doing a great job killing the enemy. Sthea and I were a group of cruisers (2 Kumas, one Phoenix) that secured the left side of the map and the base. That's where we killed the Wyoming, a Minekaze, and a Phoenix (my kill). The team won. :)

In a battle in the test earlier today my Fuso sank the enemy Fuso with just 10 AP rounds. That had to have been a magazine criticle. I hope before release they show that image, big explosion and rising mushroom cloud over the wreackage. Google imagy of Yamato or Lexington or the Battle of Jutland to see what I mean.

Basically carried this one. Played like a DD. Sank 2 BBs with close-range torpedo ambushes. Sank a Cleveland with torpedo ambush. Then fought 3 enemy ships in our cap, switching fire from each to the next to keep resetting, as I was dying I sent a 6-torpedo spread into the cap that sank one of them and by then our last DD finished capping.

Nice Fritz. :) The most I've sank is three I think, four is possible but doubtful.

One nice battle awhile ago. I was in an Omaha and suddenly I take moderate damage. I scan the horizon but see no one. Airplanes then arrive and hit me with torps. So I'm down to half HPs when the gunfire comes back. Finally I see wot was firing at me - a Gremyashchy DD. His fire was murderously accurate at first. I engage in a duel but missing mostly while he scored hits. I then attempt to break away as I'm now down to 400+ HPs. He chases after me madly. I maneuver this way and that and continue firing at him, scoring hits every so often but not much. He seems to have been focusing on me too much that he hits a couple of islands which gives me time to damage him. Eventually I see he's in torpedo range and I fire a wide spread. He fires his guns and puts out smoke. I am hit and sink. I last see him disapearing behind the smoke screen and maneuvering to evade my torpedoes. But then I get the notification that he is hit by one of the torps I fired at the limit of my torp range and sinks. ^_^ Nice duel that one. Our team won the battle.

This is nice. Would've been five ships sunk if only I saw the island I was about to run into. :P

A Yuukaze, Kawachi, and a St. Louis. The St. Louis was by torpedoes and guns. The guy using that was great in maneuvering and managed to evade a lot of my torps despite being well within range. Still, I won hehehehe

Had an awesome battle a while ago to cap the sucky sucky day (most battles I fought today were defeats with me getting sunk early in the game without hitting any enemy :( ). This battle was in an Omaha hull B. I sank five ships - a CV (did most of the work with guns), 2 BBs (SoCar and Myogi - the former I sank it solo, the latter with assist of a Kongo), a Omaha (with team assist), and a DD (did most of the work). The SoCar was the first victim. Slow and clunky, and I had lots of islands to be protected from its guns. I got the enemy player confused as he tried to hit me but he got grounded on an island. I was crossing his stern and pummeled him with sequential gunfire until he burned to death. Next target was an Omaha which I had earlier dueled with but broke off to get the SoCar as the latter was an easier target. By then, the Omaha had been damaged already significantly and only a few shots from me got it sinking. Fortunately, it had its attention on my other team mates. By then the enemy CV (there were two) were spotted. One was hugging the border and I was in a great position to burn it with HE. After killing that, I see the field is empty and go south. I see a Myogi and its attention was on a team's Kongo. I went in close and assisted in the fight, getting the kill in the end. There was only one last ship, a DD and we were all going south when I get a torpedo warning. Apparently it was to the north where I had sunk the CV and thanks for the torp warning, I found the DD. I went for it and killed it with guns.

Thanks to my team mates, they all got the enemy's attention. I made good use of my gun's range and supported my team mates from afar. Few of the enemy returned fire at me as they were focused on my other team mates.

Not going to post pics, but long story short:

- I'm nicholas, fully kitted

- we're losing

- I do a desperate charge through mid

- enemy bb left, I unload torps

- enemy bb right, I unload torps

- keep going straight at CV

- both bbs blow up

- I almost kiss with the cv because torps are reloading but last second they are up and he blows up

- 3rd bb shows up and just 2s before I am ready to torp him he wipes me out

- however at that point I've taken out 3 capital ships and the enemy lead is no more; so we barely win

- back hurts*

* for real actually...

  • 4 weeks later...

I was in my Clemson, had manged to turn the battle by sinking a BB, cruiser and a DD (DD fight was a real dirty knife fight by a worthy opponent). They had a BB and CV left and we had the same plus me. By the end of the DD fight I was almost dead and running out of time, capped the middle cap to slow their victory and choose to go after the CV, spotted him went to engine boost, while their BB killed ours. lining up for the 4th kill and.......my game crashed :(

Had a fun game with the Mikasa. It's nice playing the Mikasa against mostly Tier I ships which are usually played by complete noobs  Noobs with DDs were like me - they don't know how to use the lead indicator. So that is a tremendous advantage when using a ponderously slow BB like the Mikasa. :D

Anyway, the battle last night was won thanks to the Mikasa's secondary armament. I just got her ploughing directly to the enemy, trying to quickly close range for the secondary batteries to work. This was how I managed to sink one DD and damaged several other ships. At close range, I also got to sink a cruiser with my main guns + secondaries.

I think I'll play the Mikasa more hehehehe

Kuma is King! On the Big Race map i just killed one South Carolina, one Phoenix, one Tenryu, one Langley and an Isokaze. I broke through along the coastline, sinking first an Isokaze with point blank gunfire at the inner part of the bay, turned around and went back towards my own lines to avoid the gunfire from the So.Car. I launched my torps at him (maybe one hit) and shelled him heavily as i dodged between the islands, i then lost sigth of him and he blew up from the damage short afterwards. Returning to the bay i ran into the Phoenix that had just chased away a destroyer, for some reason he was moving in reverse and concentrating his fire in a different direction, several broadsides and a full load of torpedos sent him packing with a bang.

I then continued north as i could now see the two enemy carriers (Langley and Hosho), a Tenryu was covering them rather bravely but he lost our gunnerymatch. I then run wild on the carriers, first hitting the Hosho and then giving the Langley several quick broadsides that sank him. Shifting back to the Hosho and shelling him without mercy, some of the other players had now emerged from the central islands and joined the fray to snatch the doomed prey (30 hits from me alone). Unfortunatly one of them got the killing salvo a second before me, but all in all a fine match.

  • 2 months later...

Just had a great duel with a Wyoming. We started out at long range, with me striking first. He was kinda slow on the uptake and I crossed his T. On and on it went, with me and him dealing damage as we got closer and closer. Eventually, he had 6k HP left and I was down to just under 3k. But my guns were reloaded and I fired back and almost the entire salvo struck him, bringing him to a few hundred. I also hit the repair/damage control thingy and got my HP back to 3k up. That was enough and I let loose a final salvo to sink him.

It was a great running duel, albeit frustratingly slow hehehehe was about to finish off an enemy Myogi but that one killed our CV which ended the game with our defeat. Still, 3 ships sunk (Myogi and two Tenryus), and I got a nice shiny Emden for that. ^_^
