When in a panic, the Liberals always pull out the gun control vote pinata. The problem is that no matter how they hit the pinata, fewer and fewer votes are coming out of it. They have also left the SKS untouched because it is a very popular hunting rifle and going after it will blow up in their face. Another problem is that they are running out of guns to ban and that means they either have to spend a billion dollars to seize them or try to take them by force, which will turn out ugly. If that happens, the police services will lose access to every private gun range in the country and that would drive up training costs immensely.

Meanwhile, President-elect Trump has said he's glad Freeland is gone.  He says she was "toxic".  This may stem from the last set of trade negotiations in 2018 when she was taking a hard line.  

Were I him, I wouldn't count on Trudeau's successor being as spineless as he is and that successor may well be Freeland.

Even if they manage to flush the Turdeau. My feeling is they will have to drag him out by the socks. It is probably unlikely that the Liberal party will still win an election. It is also possible that Trump would be happy dealing with someone with a spine as long as they are not a ideologue.

Increasing pressure within the Liberal party for Trudeau to step down, in which case we'll be having an election this spring.  

Reception to Trump's 51st state comments are poor, but generally considered to be trolling so not too much worry.  More concern over the possibility of tarrifs, but hoping to avoid these with negotiation.  Sorry Mexico.
