Among the measures: Top and bottom surgeries will be banned for minors aged 17 and under. Doctors say bottom surgeries aren't performed on youth and top surgeries are rare. Puberty blockers and hormone therapies for gender affirmation will not be permitted for children aged 15 and under. Youths aged 16 and 17 will be permitted to start hormone therapies for gender affirmation "as long as they are deemed mature enough" and have parental, physician and psychologist approval. Parental notification and consent will be required for a school to alter the name or pronouns of any child under age 15. Students who are 16 or 17 won't need permission but schools will need to let their parents know first. Parents will have to "opt-in" their children every time a teacher plans to teach about gender identity, sexual orientation or sexuality. Alberta law currently requires parental notification and gives them the option to opt students out. All third-party teaching materials on gender identity, sexual orientation or sexuality will need to be approved in advance by the education ministry. Transgender women will be banned from competing in women's sports leagues. Smith said the government will work with leagues to set up coed or gender-neutral divisions for sports. Needless to say the left have lost their s#$t. Seems reasonable.

rmgill
Have we seen discussions on the Edison Motors developments up in Canada? These guys have come up with a pretty, on the face, nice concept for off road trucking. Diesel Electric Hybrid with electrically driven axles, an onboard gen set and specifically geared for hauling logs downhill and regenerating as much power as possible and storing it. They built it to be as practical as possible where it came to access, parts, and other details. They've apparently run afoul of the provincial government as apparently the folks who advise on grant paperwork for a fee, are also involved in the approvals of the grants, with the Provincial government more or less giving them the cold shoulder. sunday
Very worrying. Quote Canada introduces blood-curdling new ‘thought police’ law that would make even Stalin blush… Quote This new bill is supposedly aimed at safeguarding the masses from online “hate speech,” and it’s a dictator’s dream come true. Naturally, the left is hailing it as a beacon of democracy—a term they seem to misunderstand more and more. The real shocker in this bill is the alarming retroactive aspect. Essentially, whatever you’ve said in the past can now be weaponized against you by today’s draconian standards. Historian Dr. Muriel Blaive has weighed in on this draconian law, labeling it outright “mad.” She points out how it literally spits in the face of all Western legal traditions, especially the one about only being punished if you infringed on a law that was valid at the time of committing a crime. Ssnake
Meh, those traditions were concocted by white, old, male slave owners, and have held back Canada for more than two millenia. About time to abandon those crazy, colonialist laws!
R011
I'm not seeing where the legislation is retroactive, though if an old child porn post was still up on a site it might be criminal because it's up now even if created years ago. https://www.mccarthy.ca/en/insights/articles/bill-c-63-government-canada-intends-establish-new-responsibility-regime-social-media-operators-and-direct-content-distributors The definition of "hate crime" and 'hate" might be a problem. The legislation hasn't yet been passed and is till subject to change. Once passed, it can still be overturned by Parliament when the Conservatives win the next election. I been following him for quite awhile. He is a logging truck driver at heart, with a solution based mindset. It's not surprising that he would not qualify for any grants as the purpose of the grants are to make the politician look good. I have a friend who consults for this Provincial government and this current administration is a real clown car (as opposed to the Federal Clown car)
